Pirates of the Carribean, I consider that comedy. Austin Powers, that is comedy. The Wayne's World movies that spun offo f the show, also comedy. I watch a lot of comedies...
mmm... Bad Boys 1&2. I am Legend. I know you said series, but I think they should make a second.
I like the books too much to give credit to the movies, they left a lot out, like all movie imitations.
All four of my favourite movie series are trilogies: Matrix Trilogy (Matrix, Reloaded, Revolution), Bourne Trilogy (Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Ultimatum), Star Wars (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) and Lord of the Rings (Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, Return of the King). Not my favourite movies of all time but definitely my favourite series.
I didn't actually think the third was that bad. Didn't live up to the other two, but still a good movie.
sounds sweet, but I've never seen it
Jar-Jar was actually the only reason I kept interest in the first prequel, but then again I was like eight when it came out, so I was probably just looking forward to the action scenes. I like looking back at old movies and shows and seeing the cheesyness that I wasn't able to see a the time, I should probably re-watch the first prequal again.
Yeah, they were like teddy bears on crack when they went to war with The Empire. They beat lasers and missiles with pointy sticks and logs attatched to trees with ropes, which I think is Lucas's way of showing that the people can resist if they simply have the spirit to do so. Those battle scenes were pretty cool too.
Darth maul was a bad ass. He was so cool.
A bad ass fighter for sure, but that's all. There wasn't much more I saw in him.
Because they didn't give enough backstory, or any story for that matter. I think it was awesome that he could take on a master and padawan at the same time, as well as killing the master.
Bad Boys and rush Hour
Anything with a good plot in general and is in the category of either Sci-fi, or Fantasy.
Horror genre? Trashbin.
Comedy? I might laugh once or twice, but the rest is just garbage.
Action/Adventure? Good for little kids and people who don't want to think and just pass time, but you kinda expect something like a film-noir. There are exceptions like Fight Club for example, but rare in this case.
Crime/Drama? Crime is too cliche now, same story, different names. And drama? Well, if I wanted to cry, I would hire someone to beat the crap out of me and will have a better experience than watching one such movie. And besides, watching intense melodrama while consorting with real life tends to make people unstable in the brain and in feeling. Hence, despondency and depression.
Mystery/Romance? Romance makes the female population have unrealistic expectations and mystery just isn't mystery. Either it is too easy to solve, or we have a Lost tv show like movie. Just jumbled up random crap to confuse people. As for movies with great plot twists, it is only that. I wasted what, 2 hours and 15 bucks just to see a 5 minute plot twist? I don't think so.
Thriller? If it is something like Crank, I would enjoy it. Otherwise, a bore.
War? Unanimously dependent on who is making/writing it. For example, I would watch Lord of War, and not some crap about Vietnam, World War II, or War in Iraq. It is overrated and enough is enough. America needs more international exposure for war films. And if we don't care about that, do something like the American Revolution or the Civil War, with esponiage, etc. If you need a hero, make one up, most of the world has already educated their population in bias ways already, it isn't like screwing up history now will make any difference. Don't believe me, ask your history professor or some history nut.
Musical/Documentary? Documentaries try too hard. Really, I mean it. They could make their point in 15 minutes, provide evidence, source, bam! But noooo, instead they decide that they would rather bore us for 2-3 hours. Musicals? Depends on the target audience. Some are good, some are really bad.
RomCom? The most epically failed genre, worse than horror even. I call this the brainwashing category.
Western? Not unless I'm from Texas.
Sport? Err...no. Just...no.
Family/LGBT? First makes money even if mostly kids watch it, and second one makes some uncomfortable.
Mockumentary? If only they were funny and not look stupid.
Disaster films? Good for the first ten minutes of epic destruction. After that...pointless. I don't care about what happens to the main character, I just want to see stuff getting obliterated.
Histor films? History is good depending on the era, but mostly skewered and prejudiced. I recommend these for Rednecks who enjoyed The Birth of a Nation.
Philosophy? Most have very well developed stories, plots, and ideas. There are exceptions though, like for any genre I listed.
Crank is definitely a mindless action film, but it's the best mindless action film I've ever seen! haha I'm not even kidding, I love that movie. I find it hard to enjoy movies like that usually, but I feel that they did a really good job in making the movie not too long so you lose interest and just ridiculous/intense enough to keep you watching. Good blend of action and comedy, a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. A definite favorite. But that said, it's by no means a genre I'm partial to. I like a good action film, but I find that they're often hard to come by.
I thoroughly enjoyed the (remade) Bourne series. Each one less than the previous, but I still enjoyed watching each of them. I can't remember a lot of the particular things I liked about 'em because I saw them all a couple years ago in succession.
I also like the first few of the Saw series, mostly the first, but it lost a lot of its value when they started throwing random unnecessary things into the plot just to keep the series going. Saw seems like one of those long ass series that probably would've been better off as a trilogy than anything. Not necessarily stopping at the 3rd movie, but not trying to draw everything out so much, so everything could come to a more natural conclusion.
I can generally enjoy and respect any good movie in any genre. I want to say that genre doesn't matter, and it generally doesn't, but I won't hesitate to say that I'm more likely, at least, to like one over another, simply because the movies I have seen in particular genres. For instance, I love comedy, but there are only a couple comedy-movies that I really like and would recommend. However, there are a ton of mystery-movies that I'd recommend. But I still wouldn't be comfortable saying that I like mystery over comedy, because it really does depend on the individual movies themselves.
No, Crank definitely have elements of a Thriller.
I thought it was kind of boring, actually. I agree that it is more action than thriller, mostly because a thriller is supposed to be, you know... thrilling.
I like a Action movies. I thought the reccent movie I just saw Priest was really good. Had plently of twist in the plot and enough action to move it along. It had Matrix like moments which is another movie series I enjoy.
Oh, yeah, the Matrix. Love that too. I've seen way too many movies that I really like to both naming, I think.
But I dunno how Crank is a thriller. I guess when I think of a Thriller, I think of maybe a watered down horror - like Disturbia or Death Proof (maybe not the best in the genre). 90% suspense and build-up. Crank was probably 99% action, 1% ..something else. I'd say something like No Country for Old Men is a thriller, but done really well.
Fight club was pretty interesting, there are a lot of metaphors that I was too tired to explore when I was watching it, I might go back and do that.
Fight Club is awesome, too. haha My favorite war movie's probably Full Metal Jacket; though, I can't say I've watched very many. FMJ is without a doubt a masterpiece
LGBT, I dunno if I've seen any. I'm sure I have somewhere along the line, but I can't recall any. I heard that The Kids Are Alright is really good, and I've been meaning to watch it, but I haven't had much time to watch movies lately.
I also wanna watch Inside Job, which is really more of a documentary, but interesting nonetheless.
I can't believe I forgot about this. Rocky Horror, the American movie version. Not the British movie or the play.
I was giving my opinion JJJ, don't berate me just because Apocalypse Now wasn't in my head at the time. Besides, I said "It is overrated" if you haven't heard. Meaning, it is overdone/considered too highly overall as a genre, and I ALSO said that there are exceptions to all the genres I listed at the bottom of my conjectures. And if you're not familiar with what overrated means, here: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/overrated.
I don't mean to retort, you have been piling up insults with zeal lately. And I don't troll every thread, so quit it. I mean, even Zero don't insult me when I do troll.
And Apocalypse Now is considered Moderately Old in my view. I was talking mostly about B rated to newer films. They're all too stereotypical.
Actually, cross that. You can insult me, that'll make it a little more interesting.
I really want to see why the fat dude becomes a monk, don't ruin it for me! It's hilarious how they shaved his head and left his beard.
All monks have beards right? I also cant believe I forgot Winne the Pooh series on here. (Yes I am a 15 year old guy who likes Winne the Pooh. Deal with it.) I love those movies. I am also compared to erory.
I don't like little kids but that is because of my little brother the A-hole.
Ohh I love those types of kids. They are always so cute.
A recent comdey movie I liked was Zombie world. The Zombies did not scare me; they just made me laugh my ass off.
It was pretty hilarious, but as far as zombie humor goes, I think Shaun of the Dead rules that category.
I second this motion!
Did not see it.
I like Pirates. The first one is the best, definitely.
I really want to see the new Pirates movie. I'm jealous of Cool -_-
better than the 1st and 2nd but not the 3rd? in my oppinion, the 1st one was the best, followed by the 4th one, then the 2nd and finally the 3rd.
The new pirates movie is quite good, if not quite different. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
As well as I. here's my list: 1st, 4th, 2nd, 3rd.
The third just wasn't a really good one. The ending was horrible, in my opinion.
Spoiler alert, fags.
That was the most important part of all 3 movies (in my opinion) ! So, yes, you just spoiled it for every living person who is a fan of Pirates but haven't seen the ending of the 3rd one.
I do, not a big fan of him as a hero, but he does have one of the most complicated back stories of all comic book super heroes, i fear that they will be unable to capture such complexities properly.
I imagine the pictures, do make the strain of reading far less. lol
I suppose the new Bat man movies are my favourite series, im looking forward to the third installment.
I can't wait for the hunger games movie to come out! I'm sure it's going to be bad, and not follow the storyline. The characters don't even look like them! here's a list:
Rewrite cast*
Can anyone else not see the pictures?
really? dang it. Well, if you click on the name, you should be able to see who they are.
are we going by the idea that it is best to have low expectations? thats not allways a good idea, think of it this way, if you constantly say the movie is going to suck, then when you see it, you have allready decided it sucks. instead lets think about it this way, if this movie is anything like the book, it will be great.
did you not, read my post? my post is just like a reply to this, only i would word it slighly differently.
Don't forget the Cirque Du Freak movie (I forget the name, that might actually be the name.) Not only did they mess up the action and storyline, they added a love interest. Adding a love interest that didn't previously exist is my biggest pet peeve. Not only that but the love interest had a monkey tail, A MONKEY TAIL!
Yes. I wish I could direct a movie! I would make sure to have it be as accurate as possible. I loved the Avatar series as a kid and I was looking forward to the movie! Then there was only one scene that made me chuckle a little. That was when Sokka got squished by Appa's tail in the beginning. after that, it sucked. All of it was horrible! No comedy, and Aang was way too serious. Plus, they said his name wrong. Why would they say his name wrong?!?!? He's the main character!
So, to make this short: Cool is absolutely correct! I'll have expectations, just not high ones like I did for Avatar or Percy Jackson.
I disagree, I always try and forsee the worst possible outcome and try to stick with that. That way not only have I planned for something going wrong, but I can only be pleasantly surprised :)
I was actually disagreeing with Ugilick, not agreeing with you, no offence intended lol. I wish I had seen that movie, I really want to.
No actually it doesn't. We could disagree for different reasons. Say that, hypothetically of course, there is a debate about evolutionism. I am a strict christian and I disagree with it because I think that God created humans and everything in the universe, and you are an athiest and disagree with it because you think of a better explination logically. Does that mean that you agree that God exists because we both agree that evolutionism is wrong?
Also, by the power of reflective, A=A and B=B and Zarquon Omega Booger 8= Zarquon Omega Booger 8.
The point is, we can both list mathmatical formulas, but they don't make sense unless you connect the variable with what the person or people are saying. If you don't people will interperet it in their own way, which can cause confusion.
I can see why they would be similar, but my reason is not the same as yours. Yours applies to the end of movies, mine applies to everything and it is the absolutely worst scenario. So thinking a movie stinks isn't neccesarily the same as thinking the characters of winnie the pooh are going to go into a gang fight over who is slinging honey on the corner, and the loss of Piglett results in Winnie's suicide (that is the worst case scenario I can think of).
To say that A=C they would have to equal the same thing, otherwise it is A is similar to C (don't know the symbol for that)
exactly = implies they are the same.
