Music in Games?

Is it possible to add background music to your story games, to really set a good mood?

Example: I have a scene in my game where the main character roams a vast darkness around him, i want to put music like this in it.

Other example: when the main character is playing dodge ball, and is forced to change tactic's because the enemy team's ace figured his strategy.

Yes, you can put music (via youtube) into games. When doing so, there are a number of considerations.

First and foremost, should be - is the music so jarring that it makes it hard to read the game?

Seriously, most music in the background actually disrupts the flow of the text.

If the music fits, then you have to decide whether to autoplay it or have the player click to start it and whether to hide the video or have it visible. You could also have it pop up or stay embedded on the pages, though if you do that, then it shuts off when you leave the page it is on.

Check out this game (if you can actually get past the first scene) for a wide selection of embedded music files. Note also that they work slightly differently for each web browser. You’ll need to play the game in IE9 to access all the files in this particular game…

Thank you for the reply,

I think I will give more thought if I will use music in my game. I'll definitely check how the music will affect the game in the link you gave me and maybe give me a clue in creating it.

P.S Love the story games you've made, I look forward to dungeon stompage 2.

You'll need a Barry White Album for that  ;)
