Question About Rules

I'm wondering if it's considered against the rules, or even in poor taste, to try to recruit some people for another site that wouldn't be in direct competition since it's not a CYOA story site.

We've had other people try to recruit others and we haven't stop them

We won't really care, but we'd probably lose some respect for you depending on what you're recruiting for.

Oh.  It's just a forum site that primarily plays themed Mafia games. :)  They really need more people.  Hopefully it's not going to get me a loss of respect. ;)

Phew! We thought you wanted to sell us Viagra or something!   ;)

Question About Rules

Naw.  Not my style to imply that people would need it, let alone try to sell it.  I can't sell anything, unless I'm absolutely convinced it is the BEST THING EVER!  And, since I've needed viagra, I would never try to sell it. ;)

Ack!  Outdone by my late night posting.

NEVER needed Viagra.  One of these days I'll learn to really proof read my posts.

Generally if you're advertising something the member base might genuinely be interested in (eg. "hey, I notice you guys love playing mafia, I also play mafia at this site") it's all good. On the other hand, if you've literally just signed up and are advertising a Kickstarter project or whatever, you'll probably be ridiculed or deleted.

Just use your gut. If you're a regular (even a new regular like yourself) and you think the members might be interested then go ahead.

I'm not even sure what a Kickstarter project is.

It's a way of crowdsourcing funds for creative projects. Basically, somebody will be creating something (an app, a product, a game etc.) and rely on donations to fund it. Users can donate and in return they get rewards; the more they donate, the better the reward. For example, on this arbitrarily-picked Kickstarter page for a film you'll get a copy of the script signed by the director/writer if you donate $20 or more.

We had some random guy come to CYS and try and get people to support his Kickstarter project a little while back, hence my reference above.

Oh.  Yeah, I can see how that would be annoying.  No, I just want more people to play Mafia.  I know a couple of the people personally, and the people I know personally know a lot of other people personally, even if I don't.  But because it's a small group right now, it's not widely known, and I think it could use a few more members.  This place seems to have some pretty cool people and mafia seems popular.
