Dust off a seat and discuss a good book here...you do read, right?

I do not think this book series has been brought up before. Which really surprises me considering the depth and greatness of the story.

I happen to think it is a great fantasy book series. The plot and the characters seem to come alive in front of you. The author does a great job of balanceing the romance, battle scenes and character development into a plot that does not want to let you go.

I also can't wait for the last one. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how the cycle might end?

I read the trilogy and loved them, I think I finished the Brisinger (or however you spell it) when i was 13, so I don't know if he released an additional one. I don't think it will ever end, the writer will realize how rich he is getting and keep writing books about the series, like when this was supposed to be a trilogy lol.

Actually in an interview the author said there was too much left to put into a single book. So he had to split it up into to. The next book is going to be out in the fall I think.

Eragon

November I think. It's name of course will be Inheritance.

Eragon

By the way this series has been brought up before its real name is the Inheritance cycle.

I think the Eragon series is the best I've read in the way of dragon fantasy. Great job Christopher!!!

I've read the first three books and I really liked them. I actually have copies of one and three.

Eldest was a little boring but Brisingr brought the story back to life.

Eragon

I felt that Eldest was more about what was going on at Eragon's Home then it was about him. It was almost like a really long drawn out filler chapter. It did answer some important question.

When his cousin was whipped in brisingr I thought it was very unfair.

Eragon

Yeah, it was a dick move, but she makes sense about how you can't make exceptions. If she refused, it would create an image that she doesn't punish those she likes.

Eragon

Well that and that Eragon's family is above reprimand. That was a hard decision she had to make. In fact the only reason he did not get expelled or killed was because he made the right decision and won the battle. He was being disobedient and in the army you can not go against a surpierors direct orders.

Eragon

True but that superiors order would have lost the battle. His strategy was stupid and not thought through.

Eragon

Be that as it may. It still does not clear him of corporal punishment. He had to get punished or it would have corrupted her control over the troops.

Eragon

What made it corrupted was the point that she made the guy a superior in the first place.

Eragon

No, from the understanding I got in the book. He was usually a great leader. Also it did not corrupt her control. It only corrupted the captains. She could not let Eragon's brother get away with insubordination. That would show that insubordination is acceptable behavior.

Eragon

The last comment I made was a small sarcastic joke just in case you didn't notice. And to be a great leader you have to keep a level head and understand that you have to do what is best for your soldiers not your personal honor. Eragon's cousin understood this. The captain did not.

Eragon

Yes and that was the captains fatal flaw but by correcting him/ not fallowing orders. He sacrificed his ability to fight till he was punished.

Eragon

And thus comes the age old lesson that self pride brings nothing good.

Eragon

Yep.

I was pretty obsessed with series at first but then I read Witcher.

Eragon

Brisingr was one of the most depressing books for me.  Spoiler: A character dies pretty much at the start.  -.-

Eragon

Surprisingly enough, I didnt enjoy the books. I read the first one, didn't fond it greatit, read the second one, and I hated it. I've heard great reviews, but I was never pulled into the story.

Eragon

Loved the series, thought the ending was very well done. Well written, and of course it's fun to watch his writing style mature over the series. :)

Definitely one of my favorite series ever.

Eragon

I actually thought the series was pretty good but for almost all series I wonder what happens after the defeat of the villain? The only series I've read that actually answered this question was The Percy Jackson series which just was another series.

Eragon

... And they lived Happily Ever After. The End!

Eragon

The last book made me cry a lot lol

Eragon

Why? And I highly highly doubt he character of any book lives happily ever after. But know that I honk about I eldest wasn't great.

Eragon

Hey, so I'm making a forum game based on this series. You guys shouuld check it out :)

Eragon

Ok, Ok....don't kill me now....but...

I did not like eragon.

The idea was great, i suppose (I read the whole book) But I am not a fan of his writing style. Something says "In general" to me. I dunno what that means....but I felt the words weren't flowing together quite right, and it was like they were just....words.... I understand he was very descriptive, and detailed and the story was good, but the actual writing I did not care for....

Sorry, guys.

Eragon

He was a very young writer. So yes, his style was far from masterful.

Eragon

I vaguely remember his writing was good...and I have read at least 1000 books.

Eragon

It was a good story, and the description was good. I enjoyed it.

Yes, it did get boring at times, he got REALLY into describing the surroundings, kindof like the lord of the rings writers, but it was still one of the better books i've read.

Have any of you perchance read the night angel trilogy?

Eragon

Nope.

Eragon

I thought the first book got a little to into detail that wasn't always necessary, but the rest of the series makes up for it.

Eragon's Ending

never read that series. I do agree he got a little too in detail with the surroundings.

What did you guys think of the ending?

Eragon's Ending

The last like 5 chapters of the last book made me cry so much. That's how good it was.

Eragon's Ending

I was disapointed in the ending.

I hate when authors end their book series with cliffhangers like that.

Eragon's Ending

I completely agree this series in endings is second only to fablehaven and I'm still pissed about that. Three am finish the book and that's it? That's fucking it?!?! And Percy Jackson series had the decency to make a new series as a type of ending.

Eragon's Ending

I thought the beginning of the first one was awesome, then I read eldest, and got bored, brisingr thought it was awesome! Then I read Inheritance…

Eragon's Ending

Ha! Brisingr auto corrected is bruising ear!

I read the book (the first one) and the story was good and all, but I just....I didnt like the writing style. The words (for me) just didnt fit together right.

It's hard to find teen books that I like because the writing styles tend to be so... put together. Like you can TELL that each word is a puzzle piece, and you can see the seams

That is why I sometimes read kids books. For some reason, they dont tend to have that problem.

Eragon

I saw the movie, had never read the books.  I tried to listen to the audiobook, but the guy reading it did this horrible gravely falsetto voice for the dragon.  I couldn't get past it.
