Basically this 11 year old girl gained massive subscribers on youtube within days by doing commentaries.

?I have mixed feelings about this. First, she is actually pretty damn entertaining. (feels weird to say that) She is very mature for her age. She reminds me of a youtuber named LeafyIsHere who does similar sorts of videos.  But also, it scares me that someone this young has such a good grasp on social media and world problems.

Children, gaining awareness of the world around them and displaying both watchability and maturity beyond their years, thereby surpassing their sometimes frankly awful peers? Oh, the humanity! :3 (I haven't seen the videos, but I... genuinely do not understand why you find awareness in an 11 year old disturbing, you aren't that much older, man.)

Sorry, I phrased that wrong. I meant it scares me more that she is getting into this kind of community at such a young age. It won't be long until she has to deal with hate and death threats and such. That's what I meant. Apologies for the poor wording.

Nah, no need to apologize, lol ... and yes, that I understand. Exposure to the trolls of the world at a young age can be harmful. On the other hand, the average 11 year old has probably encountered at least a few already. (Again, children... I love children... but they can be genuinely awful beings.)

What the fuck kind of world do we live in where people watch videos for you!? That's like sitting in an ice shanty, having the pole out and everything, and then getting out your phone to watch last year's fucking reruns of Major League Ice-Fishing, but all the commercials aren't cut out, and are instead replaced by someone playing sonic in first person and making petty jabs at the sports commentators. That's fucking stupid. I hope she crashes and burns when the novelty wears off. Hell, Leafy's in the business of kid-bullying, isn't he? Maybe they should get together and condescendingly react to each other's videos. It's the closest they'll ever get to making their own fucking content.

If they're making videos, it's content. 

Oh, I'm sorry. Quality content. The kind actually worth watching. I can put my voice over a six year old banging legos together singing "Let It Go" and it's content, but it's not worth watching over the original video, nor is it really my own content. It's just me reacting to someone else's content because aren't I just the uniquest, most interestingest fucking thing in the world? At least the 6 y/o can bang some fucking legos together. I'm just playing CS:SR and complaining about the noise. That I chose to watch. So that somebody else would watch me watching it.

Jesus Christ, this is so fucking stupid. If you take this overwhelmingly bad idea "criticism" and actually apply it consistently then any content that's not completely original (according to you) is apparently trash. This includes reviews, criticism, and parody of every single entertainment medium (which itself is a TON of content on youtube), Let's Plays, reaction videos, and commentary channels like h3h3 and retsupurae. There's no way you think all of those are not "quality content."

It's not stupid to parody, let's play, or critique a movie, but I kinda draw the line when you start pulling random "art" videos and other even mildly popular/watched bullshit out of the depths of youtube just to moan about how stupid they are. Everyone knows they're stupid, and everyone can cringe on their own The commentator "genre" just seems like a condescending, unneeded laugh track for people too bored/lazy to search and find their own stupid shit to laugh at. Namely the sea of salty, venomous 12-year-old fans that stalk their every comment section because they're afraid their parents will catch them finding something uncensored or someone will think they're watching these videos unironically. "Reaction" and "Commentary" videos rarely add anything new to the original content. Critiques and analyses do. If you stab someone with a stick, then they'll react to it, and everyone will watch because they don't want to be stabbed themselves. Nothing is added to the experience, it's just clickbait and bullshit with a terrible laugh track. That's a reaction/commentary vid, which is what I'm disapproving of. If you're genuinely trying to be a critic, at least you're analyzing the stick, the stabbing method, and its components, which adds another layer to the experience with varying degrees of humor. If you're a "Let's Get Stabbed" player, then you react to getting stabbed, but also provide your own insights and go off on tangents that may or may not be completely unrelated. That's also another layer to the experience. In an age where getting stabbed by a metaphorical stick is twice the rush and completely painless, you're much better off finding your own crazy person with a stick than watching other people get stabbed just to see their reactions. If you want to see people's reactions, you might as well get your own fucking stick.

Umm... Do you even get what kind of videos they do? Cause its not a fucking react channel. God those things are cancerous. The videos are commentating. And the game footage is most likely their own. They aren't talking about the game at all. Its just backround for their commentating on whatever the fuck they're commentating on. Fucking hell, Sent. Watch one of their videos before you complain, you're being an ignorant fuck right now. Again.

Funny thing is, I have watched some of their videos, and it takes a moron not to be able to tell that's what's happening. In fact, now Youtube thinks it's all I want to watch, and a single errant fuckup with the mousepad will grant me yet another wealth of information about these uncreative fucks and their videos. And there's no difference between "React" videos and "Commentating" videos, aside from the fact that the latter one is scripted and pretty much exists sheerly for the purpose of making jokes at the original creators' expense. Someone's being an ignorant fuck who can't read context very well, and I'm sure it isn't me.

Whether you enjoy the content or not, is up to you. What I was saying was that comparing this to a react channel, such as Jinx, is stupid. One of them is staring at anothers content with a blank face while saying a couple sentences, while the other has a scripted rant which they had to atleast have thought over for some time to make. Also, I don't prefer commentating channels over other sorts of videos. I was using LeafyIsHere as an example, and I don't neccessarily enjoy his videos.

I dont watch react videos as i dont enjoy them but there are people out there who do and i say to each there own.

Or like watching people play sports. Watching people do things is a pretty big past time.

Well, I already knew kids her age got crazy involved with all this internet memes and shite. If anything, the fact that she's so aware of it all and how much of it is bullshit is impressive, and gives me hope for the future.

I just generally don't get any enjoyment out of watching these types of commentaries (the ones which have a video going on in the background whilst the creator rants about a particular topic). They're usually incredibly negative without adding a meaningful level of analysis or discussion to that topic. Then to make up for that and liven up the atmosphere, they gratuitously include irritating memes throughout the entire video. See Jerma, TotalBiscuit and Thorin for the type of quality content I'd actually enjoy listening and watching.

As for LtCorbis. To me, she's quite irritating and not entertaining at all. I understand also that she has a regular schedule, but I watched a couple of her videos and it seems to me, that she isn't really putting much research into them. Regarding her age, it's true that some 11 year olds can be more mature than others of that age, but her personality to me appears quite haughty when really, her content isn't spectacular, as I've pointed out above. I also have concerns for her in that, yes she will be exposed to a very high number of trolls and harassment. And also, when her other responsibilities (like school) start to take up a larger portion of her life, will she be able to keep up her content? If not, what then?
