I have an idea for a very expansive, multi-branching storygame taking place across dozens of planets in a sci-fi universe with a blend of fantasy. The story will follow a young human who had lived in a secluded, backwards little planet all his/her life, and after reaching adulthood is looking for adventure. There will be a few main branches to the story based on what the protagonist sets out to accomplish on his/her journey. Depending on your story path you will be going in a different direction and encountering different planets and characters, with some planets being essential to the story and many being treated as optional side quests. You will be able to recruit certain characters you meet along the way into your crew, all with their own unique skills, personalities and backgrounds.
Most characters will probably be humans but there are different species across the galaxy. One such example are elleekays, who are renowned for their incredible running speeds which they can maintain for distances far greater than a human sprint. They have to be able to run fast to cope with the speedy predators of their home planet.
Where the fantasy part comes in is the inclusion of beings you wouldn’t usually expect in sci-fi, such as dragons, ghosts and gods. There will be multiple species of dragons with the main ones being sky dragons, sea dragons and earth dragons. They all reside within their respective ‘elements’ and don’t necessarily just fly about like the traditional fantasy dragon.
I also have some ideas for game mechanics but I'm not willing to reveal those just yet.
As you can probably tell from my avatar, One Piece is one of the main inspirations for this storygame. There’ll be a lot of easter eggs and hidden references to things I like as well as stuff in my life in general. This, combined with the size of the game, makes it perfect for cameo appearances. This is where you guys come in.
You can request a character to make a cameo appearance in this storygame, whether it’s yourself, a character from one of your own stories or a completely original character. You can be sure that almost any character could make it into this universe because a lot of crazy things will be happening in it. All I ask of you is to help Team Aman to win this competition. This storygame is going to be immensely long, and will take a very long time to finish writing. I'm still in the early stages of developing the setting and backstory. I don't even have a title for it yet. I'll need to learn scripting to be able to get this game where I want it. I'll probably publish one or two different stories before completing this one.
I know you're probably thinking that, like many others with big ideas on this website, I'll probably run out of steam and never finish this project. But I've made a promise that I will include these cameo appearances in this story so I will finish this, even if it takes years.
You might also be thinking that this noob with no storygames published is not going to produce quality work. And you might be right, but I can promise you that I will put effort into this. I don't know if anybody will like my writing, but you can be sure I'll do my best to make this story great.
