All right, can't do any serious work on this until I get home, but here's my first page:
REC.HA.CE.
Those green letters that flickered across your screen at your query, right as the power failed, that's all the information you have about the planet your escape pod has just crashed on, and with both the main computer and onboard scanner out of commission there will be no more forthcoming, nor any way to call for help.
"Recommended for eventual colonization. Hospitable atmosphere. Cold environment."
You know what it means, at least, but other than the knowledge you'll be able to breathe and walk around without special equipment, it doesn't do you very much good.
The good news is, the pod managed to land you alive and in one piece, zeroing in on an Alliance beacon, probably left by the original survey team. They're the ones you have to thank for the eight word description you now have of your location.
The bad news is, the reason you crashed in the first place was because your scout ship was blown to pieces by a Lhasn destroyer. You don't know where the others wound up, or if they even made it to the pods in time. You may well be the only one left. And your crew had information. Vital information, damn it. The most significant being that the Lhasn had somehow managed to build a massive fleet of destroyers once again and were on course for several key Alliance outposts. Your ship's fate, only further proof of their intentions.
That beacon gives you hope, though. The surveyors may be long gone, but they had to have had a base, and it should still be here, close by. There will be communication equipment, scanners, perhaps even a usable ship. Time is of the essence, and the loss of your crew has certainly taken it's toll, but you may be able to salvage this situation yet.
And, that's the only sneak peek anybody is getting. It's not going to be an overly long game, I'll be trying to minimize the spoilers from here on out.
