Co-author(s?) needed

I need at least two co-authors for my story- one to write and one to proofread. The story is a Fantasy/Animal Perspective about wolves. If you have any questions then just ask. Thank you!

What will your role in this project be, if not writing or proofreading?

And what exactly do you expect to be doing while two theoretical strangers do all your work for you? Cuz I know you're too young to be lounging at a pool sipping a cocktail.

Edit: Dammit, Mizal.

Gosh I suck at wording. I mean someone to help write. Not to write the whole thing. XD There's too many paths, and I don't think I can handle them all- plus of course I don't really think it's the best plan to proofread myself, because I'm sure I'll overlook all the typos.

This still doesn't ... really work. Now, I never, ever think it's a bad idea to get a proof-reader for your game. No one should fault you for that, because even if you do proof-read yourself--which you should--having someone come along after you to find what you will inevitably miss is just a smart thing to do.

It's the "I need someone to co-write" bit. We have no incentive at all. You want us to help you out with your work, and while I try to encourage charity, why should we? You want us to commit time and effort to your project when we all have our own.

You haven't published a story independently yet, so we don't know if you're any good, or if you're able to get stuff done.

You explained the genre, but literally nothing else about it. Do you even have a title? Why is it a fantasy? Is there a plot? What's the plot? How is this different from nearly literally every other wolf perspective story that ever got panned on here? (If it isn't different--meaning both unique and good in this instance--and you dunno how to make it different, you might as well just trash it now.)

What do you have written so far? Anything at all? You posted no excerpts, no summary, (again, no title) and you haven't said how much work exactly you plan to do or need done.

And lastly...

My first game on here is nearly a thousand pages long. I lost track of how many endings it has somewhere around 15 and that's not including a single "random death," it has items and scripting, and profile badges. Wanna know how many writers worked on it?

One. Just me. I got about four beta-readers to help me clean up my mistakes, of course, but every letter, every picture, every pathway, all of it was me. (One picture, I specifically commissioned from an artist friend, but I paid for it out of my own pocket.) So maybe that's why I don't necessarily get it when people say "I just need help because there's too much to do."

... Isn't writing, and the love of it, why you're here in the first place?

Okay.. That's probably true. XD on second thought, I'll just write it myself like a normal dedicates author instead of trying to get help for the sake of sheer laziness. Thank you! Sorry for the trouble.

Edit: Do you by any chance know someone who could proofread for me?

Edit again: Don't answer that.

And that's the attitude that instantly makes me like you more than over half the newbies I've had to chastise for laziness. It's not really troublesome, I know writing your first game can be daunting, I certainly felt intimidated during the creation of my first... but overcoming that is just part of the experience.

Feel free to come talk to me if there's something you need advice on or something that you don't know how to do. Good luck.

(Free advice for your good attitude: Don't accept Malk's offer.)

Thank you, very much. I'm starting to feel like this is the best website I've ever joined, considering on sites like Scratch nobody accepts constructive criticism and on sites like YouTube there's nothing but non-constructive criticism, ha. Well, I guess i'd better get off the forums and keep writing x3

When you have a fair number of pages down, just ask for a proofreader here. Someone will probably come and help out if you provide a link.

Writing Workshop threads work best when you need help or insight with a specific issue. Such as, does this scene flow well, or does this scene stretch the parameters of suspension of disbelief too far - considering that X, Y and Z are considered normal features of this world, universe, race, phallus, plant, etc.

Yeah, co-author requests pop up a lot, but never seem to result in much. A couple of friends scribbling on something together just for fun might work out, sure, but I just don't see it in serious attempt at a more ambitious story. The main one is there's just no motivation, like Kiel said. Most of us have our own WIPs and even in the case where you know you can rely on the other author, it's still a lot to expect someone to want to drop their own story to spend days or weeks on someone else's, where they won't get a final say in their own work and aren't even guaranteed much of the credit. .

Even if it was the one time a collaboration went 100% smoothly, there's still the issue of the flow of the story suffering from wildly differing writing styles.

Not singling out Cinderblaze, it's just that I see these kind of threads posted a lot and can never see why anyone would bother.
