The only time a moose got in my way was before they widened the highway. A young bull decided that he'd give me an escort and trotted for about a mile in front of the vehicle. I was in no hurry, and it was one of those things that most people never get to experience.
A different time, a young cow moose tried to climb in the boat with us while we were out in the middle of a lake! Nature doesn't get any better than that!
Most collisions happen around dusk, what I refer to as "feedin' time", because animals are more active and drivers tend to be more weary. Well, that and being distracted by things that have no business being with them when they are supposed to be "gettin' away from it all." I don't even listen to music when I travel, no cell phone, don't try to read a novel, etc. There's too much you can miss out on if you're distracted. If you take your time and enjoy the scenery, you shouldn't have any problems.
