Winds of Change is a Political game which lets you play in the post-war USSR and do what you think is correct.

In this game you play as a young citizen of the USSR just after the end of the WW2. You can play as you wish, ending up as general secretary, officer of KGB or leading an open rebellion against the party and the soviet system. Winds of Change are coming from the east

Welcome Comrade

The sun rises upon our great soviet motherland. The year is 1945 and the war with Japan is over. Comrade the USSR has managed to defeat the fascist foes who attacked from east and west and now we are considered to be one of the major powers in the world together with USA, G.Britain and other capitalist powers.

The main power within the soviet society is the CPSU, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The Soviets also have some powers but generally what the party says goes.

Despite the CP is the leading power in the Soviet Society and despite the prohibition of factions within the party, three major political “factions” exist in the Soviet System :

  1. The Hard Liners:  Under the Leadership of J. Stalin , general secretary of the CPSU this faction is the leading one within the party and the country. The hard liners are supporters of Marxism-Leninism, state’s control over the main productive powers of the society, they are also in favor of a conflict against the capitalist powers, of encouraging socialist revolutions all  around the globe and in favor of fighting with all means the capitalists within the USSR or even people generally against their Socialist policies.

  1. The Reformists: Reformists also enjoy some power in the Soviet Union. They are in favor of Marxism and of Soviet System, however they favor small private business, they want to co-exist peacefully with the capitalist powers. They are completely  against any kind of political persecution. They would support any socialist revolution provided it is moderate.

  1. The Nationalists: Nationalist are a small force within the Soviet Union (Yet their faction includes important personalities of the Society) and that’s because they are hunted as enemies of the people and of the socialist state. They favor free market, free multi-party elections, state support to the orthodox church and the destruction of the soviet system. They enjoy the support of the capitalist powers, yet they also “enjoy” the hunt by the KGB

And you comrade?

Which side are you on?

Keep in mind you'll probably get a few low ratings because it's a demo. If you want to avoid that, you're also able to post a link to the storygame on the forums (while you have the "sneak preview" box ticked on the Storygame Properties page in the editor) and have people play it without having to hit publish.

@ no proble with the ratings, it is my first game and i don't have great ambitions.

I work in this day by day. Up to now it is done by 10% , when we reach the 30% i will release a demo

This sounds really interesting. I've been working on a story-game based in Russia also. Though the time period in mine is post USSR and not at all political. I look forward to this story game! And if you need any help, I have been doing a lot of research on Russia with my own game and I'd be more than happy to share any info. :)

Good luck!

Was looking through some old games and found this, inspiration much?

100% correct. Crisis in the Kremlin is the major inspiration for me. However CitK is mostly a game[based on 87-93 timeline]where the only way to win is to transform the USSR into a western democracy without a coup of the army or a total financial breakdown. However on ''Winds of Change'' both 3 factions can actually win the game with military, political or financial means. [ A spy of KGB gets a total different end from a local farmer or an ex-soldier even if they both win the game and belong to the same faction]

Also events like Greek Civil War,Korean War kai Crisis Of Cuba are

small update

As you already know. 3 paths exist in the game. The Hard Liners'  the Reformists' and the Nationalists'

However let's take a closer look at what opportunities each faction gives you:

Hard Liners:

a) ex Red Guard
b) Officer of KGB
c) Marxists Philosopher

Reformists

a) ex military officer
b) small business owner
c) Member of the Party

Nationalists

a) Member of a family with the same roots as tzar
b) Ex Farmer who fought with the Naziz
c) Member of the Party

nearly 2/3 of the demo are done

the nationalist path is all that is left to do

Can I win with the Reformist or the Nationalist and still keep the USSR intact or will it boil back down to Russia?

++Winds of Change++ Preview

with the reformists you have (one of many) options to keep the union even if it won't be such a communist nation

about the nationalists i haven't decided yet :p
