Occupations, Careers?

Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask you all a simple question, what is your current occupation and/or career? If you are a student, what would you like your career to be?

I am a high school student who wants to be something along the lines of a 2D animator, comic book artist, or voice actor.

Zag! In fact, I just checked out a book helping me out to decide a career.

I always get scared because I never think about my future. Well, I would LOVE to be a Video Game Designer, Artist, basically the stuff you want. I love video games, drawing, and super heroes so yeah.

I have decided I will work my way to get a Computer Arts Designer Degree or whatever it's called. But I don't have much patience with computers. So that question is also unanswered for me.....

I'm. between my undergraduate degree which I got in December and my first graduate degree which I still applying to colleges for.

Eventually, I'm going to be a psychologist. Before that I'll be a therapist for some time.

I have no idea where I should be in America. Elementary school? I'm 11.

That is because I am not American. (Please tell me)

I'm still busy finishing my master's at the moment. I also really don't have an idea what I want to do afterwards. Or rather: way too many ideas and way too little desire to choose between them. Though I am at the moment seriously considering pursueing a phd in my field after I finish, and just see what turns up on my path after that. Ask me again next week and I might give a different answer though.

What's your degree in? And what are you getting your masters in?

My bachelor degree is in cultural anthropology and development sociology, and so is my masters.

If all goes as planned I'll be getting my BBA this December. From there, I will either go for a Masters in Accountancy or a Juris Doctor.

I've become very interested in auditing and fraud detection, so...

Not sure if you mean high school or college, but pro tip: you don't need a degree to be a cop. The only use is if you want upwards promotability to state or federal agencies. A lot of people try to tell you that you need a criminal justice degree and it's bullshit.

Stay-at-home mom, full-time writer and freelancer. Kinda between jobs and decided to finally write full-time. Slowly starting to pay off, very slowly but now it's picking up steam. I just launched a website and blog. I also write articles and submit stories online to different magazines and the like. Plan to self-publish one of my novels, one of these days.

I plan to eventually start a free site to help writers and other creative type people legitimately earn money from home. And I want to make some of my storygsmes into free mobile apps for people to play. Of course, I will need money first to do either. So possibly neither will ever be accomplished, sadly. :/

You know, I've always wanted to be a director. In my opinion it's a lot more fun to organize something than to participate in it, plus those silly actors wouldn't be able to direct a damn movie.

But if that doesn't work out, being a voice actor is my second choice. I have a pretty damn good voice and a lot of people say I could be a narrator for documentaries and shit. Perhaps I could... When I'm an adult that is, it'd be kinda strange if a 14 year old narrated a nature documentary.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I could also be a screenwriter or an author, but that requires creativity and an ability to write; things I lack.

EDIT EDIT: Also have two back-up plans in case any of my other plans fail: Two of my electives in school are Webpage Design and Marketing. I could be a salesman or a webpage designer, obviously. And if all of my plans fail, I'll work in a dead-end job and live a shitty life... Ah, the American dream.

That's weird. I would have swore you were older.

"In my opinion it's a lot more fun to organize something than to participate in it."

You have obviously never been to a Kung Fu movie. Or a horror movie. Or a battle scene from LOTR. Or a Jack Nicholson. Or a porno.

Occupations, Careers?

Omg, so true!! Horror movies are so much fun. Being a zombie or a victim. (I can actually scream like the girl in Halloween 4&5, but that's neither here nor there.) I love scaring people, lol.

Occupations, Careers?

For some reason, I expected you would mention something about pornography.

Occupations, Careers?

Uhh, no. (Dude, I'm a mom...)

Occupations, Careers?

Just because you're a mother doesn't mean you can't or don't do those kinds of things. Heck, one of my best friends' mother allowed him to watch unrated movies which displayed nude women. Anyone is capable of anything.

Occupations, Careers?

Sorry to disappoint. I've never partipated in a porno... And my kids are young, under 10. I don't even curse in front of them, if I acn help it, which is why I occasionally use create words such as mother fudgekins or darn it or son-of-a-biscuit-eater! Lol. Still, why would you even think that? I like horror, not romance....

Occupations, Careers?

I simply expected you to make a joke or make a remark about it. I'm not disappointed.

Occupations, Careers?

If I ever take up acting, the horror movie villain is something I'd like to do, the more cartoonishly evil the better. The one role every actor wants to have at some point in their lives. The one role Nicholas Cage does every time he's on. Being the hero or the comedy relief is fun, but after I become the crazy slasher. I'll be able to quit knowing that I've reached the very peak of any and all entertainment I can achieve as an actor.

Occupations, Careers?

Like The Joker?

Occupations, Careers?

Something less mentally toxic. Like Freddy Kreuger or the good 1/3 of the dads from The Shining. Hell, if the other actors are kept in the dark about the situation and would actually be jumpscared, even something without lines or attitude, like a Xenomorph, would be fun to do.

Occupations, Careers?

Like... Horror Improv?

Occupations, Careers?

They would still have the scripts, but it would be a real reaction because they're mostly kept in the dark. Like the Chestburster scene in Aliens, except the whole movie is the chestburster scene.

Occupations, Careers?

You can star in them, I think I will just write them. It would be fun to act, but I'm not actor/actress material. I want to write a good story about a woman serial killer soon. You hardly see woman serial killers, or else they aren't vicious. Mine will be a victim turned villian as she takes revenge on all who wronged her...

Occupations, Careers?

Far too late to reply, but here it goes:

Yeah, those'd be fun, in fact I'd be sure to sneak in a creator cameo or even portray one of the characters that doesn't require much acting ability.

Occupations, Careers?

That would sure be something. A porn director who cameos in everything he does. Your stage name should be something like "Wenkin' Tarrantino" or something cameo-director-ey.

Goddammit, all-nighter Chris didn't notice the part about pr0n. Nah, I meant the other stuff, I could be like Hitchcock or Tarantino. But probably more like Hitchcock, I'm one fatass motherfucker.

Though I could also be, like, the pizza delivery guy or the landlord... Yeah, that'd lead to some se-*THIS HAS BEEN CENSORED BY THE PR0N MINUTEMEN; PROTECTING YOU FROM PR0N AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE. NOW ANOTHER PR0N0 SHOOT NEEDS YOUR HELP. HERE, I'LL MARK IT ON YOUR MAP*

I'm currently in my final year of high school but I'm going to go into game design once I graduate. If that doesn't work, I'll look towards becoming a journalist. And if that backfires too, I'll become a pilot. I flew in a flight simulator once, and the supervisor said I was really good for someone flying a plane for the first time.

Occupations, Careers?

Currently in CO-LEDGE, and basically homeless.

I REALLY wanted to be a game designer, but realized I was #2stupid2code (I got novice skills, though.), now trying to be in HR or PR because I realized I'm pretty cool with people.

Second dream job was to work in a warehouse and move boxes from one place to another (like in AlwaysSometimesMonsters).

Living with people who like keeping me around.

So yeah, my current Career is Professional Moocher.

Occupations, Careers?

Occupations, Careers?

It's really easy, and there's no possible way I could fuck up.

It's all forklifts, clipboards, and stuff these days. It's an especially fuck-uppable job.

Occupations, Careers?

Not if we use simple commands and hand power!

"Tim!"

"YES."

"Move these boxes on to that truck!"

"K. *Proceeds to move boxes for an hour*"

Occupations, Careers?

Pretty sure they'll make you use a forklift or some other semi-complicated lifting utensile for most of it. The employer for Box Co. would get less health insurance costs and a higher boxes-lifted-per-person quotient.

Well, I did say it was a dream job. I'm not trying to be that realistic.

Really, Will? I was majoring in English and Education, before circumstances beyond my control caused me to drop out... Namely, becoming a single mom and being pregnant with my second child while working two jobs. Something had to give unfortunately... I sometimes miss teaching, although as I didn't finish school, I was only a substitute.

Occupations, Careers?

I did English at Uni and dropped out/was kicked out too, I didn't really enjoy it there but like it a lot more now, that sounds hyper stressful! I guess when the children are a bit older you could always return to give teaching a try? I cheated a bit and went to China where it's much easier to teach English than in the UK or America but I think being a parent is a lot more difficult than being a teacher because teachers get the wonderful experience of saying goodbye to their children at the end of every day :D I am sure after looking after 2 children 24/7 you'll find it easy to look after a group of them 8/5 :D
