The world has gone insane

Well folks, the world has officially gone insane: Trump has signed to release the Epstein files. Admittedly, it will still be a month before we get them, but it happened. So let's all put on our tinfoil hats and spout our crazy theories as to what will be in them as we count down the days until they are available to the public, with all the glorious changes they will inevitably make to them in order to further their own interests.

HE WHAT?!?! I thought he didn't want to do that?! Why would he sign, if he was against them being released? I don't get politics T-T

The only reason I can think of is that he finally realized that the US is on the brink of a revolt, and he's hoping to earn at least some goodwill back. Although I personally believe that any tiny sliver of it that he meraculously earns will be torn to shreds by whatever is in the files.

Yeah you really don't lol. He was getting a lot of pressure from his party and having people breaking ranks in high profile ways, and it was well past the point where continuing to block the release just made it look like there must be something even worse about him than anyone could imagine in there.

I still don't believe we'll get the full story, he did it this way so he could try to spin or control the fallout or abuse some loophole. I mean it's already a given he'll try to keep the spotlight on the Democrats and minimize or downplay anything involving himself just because that's what he's been doing about everything from day 1. And he can still at trust he has a whole news network and social media platform that are the only thing his main supporters ever look at ready to back any narrative or only report things that make him look favorable.

Although unlikely, it could also be that whatever he was most afraid of has already been released (maybe the "blowing Bubba" email), so he is no longer worried about the rest of it.

Alternatively, they could simply use other delay tactics, like shielding them because of the new investigations they just started into Clinton and other democrates mentioned. it is an optimistic view that we will see them in a month.

Yeah, I had wondered if that would allow them to use a legal loophole there, "oops, evidence in investigation, we'll just hang onto this for three years!" Since the Clinton thing had been announced right when the pressure really turned on.

You don't get politics? Here, let me help. I found an advance copy of the files that will be released, with a few redactions for privacy, of course:

Yup, it's all just a bunch of drama at the end of the day.

Released "with exceptions" and it won't be for another 30 days.

Yep. Isn't it just great how our government is able to hide whatever they don't like from the general public and make everything else illegal! (/sarc)

I expect it to omit everything Trump doesn't want to show, and to place a special emphasis on whatever his enemies might have done.

The main conclusion that has been drawn from all this is:

Between Trump, Monica Lewinsky, Paula Jones, Jennifer Flowers and who knows who else, Hillary's head game must be pretty fucking terrible.

Ronald Regan never had this problem with Nancy.

100% chance certain names have been removed. The only hope for truth is Elon's team illegally copied them, and then someday there can be a he said/she said where both sides claim the other's version is doctored.

The FBI has been working on removing Trump's name since May.

Bloomberg article about it.

On today's episode of How America Fucked Up (Again), Trump is now trying to ban AI regulation (again). And yes, I know that I'm a tad late to the party, but I'm still shocked at the fact that he thinks this is a good idea. Even some of his supporters are fighting against it!

Oh, and there are 27 days until the Epstein files are released!

I mean, think of the power of unregulated AI, if your goal was to gaslight the population or utilize disinformation.

The world has gone insane

It would play right into his ambitions as the next Evil World Leader™. It does make me wonder when everyone will finally rebel though.

I don't seriously think it's going to get as bad as it does in the book, but this reminds me of the book Rebel.

It's actually kind of nice seeing the party splintering on various issues now though instead of just goosestepping along.

Well the thing with AI is that nowadays we've come to the point AI is training AI instead of human engineers. so you enter a positive feedback loop (better AI trains AI better, leading to far better AI) most people in the field expect will lead to exponential growth.

There's actually an AI race going on between China's Deepseek and America's multiple AI companies and you know for damn sure they won't regulate, seeing as regulations postpone when you truly reap the benefits of entering that exponential growth phase. So the question is rather whether you want your own unregulated AI to come on top (with hopefully some influence of your own programming) or China's unregulated AI and the answer can't be neither.
