I just got on this site to make a final project for college. I started making pages laying them out to connect to their prospective choices and whatnot. Someone played it and at the point they played I had barely any actual content down. Again just pages connecting to one another so I could go back and add more detail and stuff once I had my structure all set. They said "It smells and feels like AI slop (slightly modified i guess)." is there any way for me to get rid of that or am I just stuck with that accusatory comment because someone tried my extremely rough outline of a project? I wouldn't be so upset about it if I didn't want to make the story better but it just puts me off.

     You already asked about this in the other thread, you don't have to make a new one for it.

     Well first of all it was in big blocks, AI makes nice, neat, and clean paragraphs that start looking worse only when you begin to read it and realize it's AI. I seriously doubt this is AI work, and I didn't read a sentence.

I have this habit of being obsessed with em dashes—the greatest punctuation known to humanity. AI also is obsessed with them. Fortunately for me, I use them like novels tend to use them—with no spaces—while AI tends to put spaces on either side. I probably shouldn't have said this though, because now the lazy, untalented people who use AI to write for them who read this will be on the lookout for the most glorious punctuation in the history of the universe—the em dash.

That is if they get off the couch long enough.

I'm not sure what you did to trigger Chris exactly, I don't think he even looks at the forum often.

Criticism can get pretty blunt, though it helps to know who the local edgelords are versus the more prolific essay length reviewers are on that side of things, if you can handle a mix of both you can get a lot of useful feedback. Most people using the site as regulars are trying to improve so detailed criticism is encouraged.

I think the story is pretty promising and hope you do so something with it or with a similar idea that pushes you creatively a little more without a deadline to worry about. (Or if you need deadlines to function like me, there's going to be a new contest coming up in January.)

An impressive amount of detail, and way more branches than I could've anticipated. Quality of the writing is the best I've seen so far this whole year, even last spring. Reminds me of A Mind Forever Voyaging, a least a bit. Keep it up, I think you've got more to say in this medium.

Even the OP was admitting it was an unfinished outline he was sketching out, that's literally in the thread title, and the generic nature of it all is how it got the AI accusation to begin with. The "way more branching" so far is like, what color do you wear, and do you call ahead when you're going to be later or run to work, and then a couple options at a meeting. The story so far is very short and most of the word count even then is from duplicated pages with small tweaks. It's a potentially interesting idea in a kind of dystopic setting I really enjoy, but so far not much more than an idea.

And any comparisons to A Mind Forever Voyaging are frankly just cringily sycophantic. Did the professor just use AI to write a comment? Lol.

At Thanksgiving I was grateful for all the mods, but especially Thara, who is my very favorite and always has been. I spend at least four hours in meditation on how wonderful she is every day, and will name my first born child after her.

Lots of people may like Ogre, but only FOOLS don't love Thara! She is also one of the best writers on the site, a close second only to Endmaster. And best reviewer? Sure why not.

The last time Thara gave me a commendation, it was the most amazing and cherished day of my life, and every time I return to the forum it's with awe and anticipation that it may happen again.

Do you just want to be on her good side?
