Player Comments on Mechanised Assault Unit

I love mechs, you love mechs, we all love mechs!
So that means we love this storygame, right? Well, maybe. The writing is pretty good in-and-of-itself, but the plot itself is very generic. It's just a mix of Halo and Independence Day with some random tropes thrown in.
Spoiler: Your random border outpost is attacked by aliens, which comes as a big surprise to the characters but not at all to the readers. The aliens' mechs are effectively just tripods from War of the Worlds, and they have big lasers. Even the ending (at least, the one I got) is really predictable. You send a distress beacon to Earth, and it's implied that no one ever comes to help. This is a tried and true sci-fi theme, that the rich core worlds just don't care.

A side note: This story also doesn't have that much branching, so even if you explore some side paths, it's really not that long. Even though I only went down one path fully and got one epilogue, I can infer that there's maybe only one other epilogue where you don't die.

Overall, this story really isn't terrible, it's good, as long as you haven't read/watched much other sci-fi.

I got the ending where my teammate and I survive but the planet is controlled by the aliens, wonder what happened after that? Does help from the Sol Federation arrive?

This really wasn't my type of story game. It did however have very good descriptive details. It was well written and had a good amount of choices.

The story is excellent, but I feel that some deaths were a bit cheap. A bit over descriptive. Will continue playing to get other outcomes.

So, I just finished the game, really cool plot and stuff. Got the ending where I'm not really sure what happens, but we survive. I liked that there's a bit of mystery with what happens to the planet in the ending I got.

Not bad, except it is boring that there are no battle scenes like selecting weapons and blasting them! ;D

This story was very interesting and it ran smoothly but also brought enjoyment to myself as a reader! I think that you should of added a bit more to this story because the choices I made came to, what felt like, an abrupt and unsatisfying end. I must agree with the other comments I read. This is a good read, a little overly descriptive but that does not diminish from the story.

My only problem with it is that it reads like the entire story was written from beginning to end and then the choices were added after. I say that because it seamed like I was being pushed to select the option that would bring me to the end of the story.

Either way, it was still a good, I enjoyed it and look forward to a sequel.

Don't stay at e fort, you'll just die. I did the whole thing with all routes in about 5 minutes

very good start, but want more. also, aliens seem the cliche overpowered and unstoppable. try to make them a little weaker. it he and interestlps add suspense when they still win but seem beatable

It feels like its been cut short. I would suggest that you make a sequel. And part of the reason I put"better than that food is because I can't have it.

While I am relatively new to this particular scene i have been reading and enjoying multiple choice text based games for a while now. personally, this story has great potential, but lacks in one major area - its VERY linear. I am assuming this is due to its short length, so i would recommend the author spend some more time on a full length story, rather than just a linear, shorter one. HOWEVER the author does have a lot of potential, and what i read was still intriguing and kept me reading further.

this deserves a sequel. I looked in your author page for a sequel and didn't find one. I was disappointed. if you do decide to make a sequel one day I will read it because your story is truly one of the best I have read on this site.

It was pretty short, I liked it, and to gage whether or not people would like it I would say it is a good game. I would love to see more of this series in the future.

A fun little game

It wasn't bad, quite descriptive, though I felt the storyline was a bit linear, with only one epilogue I have found so far. Also, it lacked explanation, and the endings just seemed very abrupt. An interesting read nonetheless.

Rather well writen story, but a bit light on the game side of this thing.
Long parts of text between choices and not always a real choice after each of those parts. You often just have a "clic here for next page" link.

Too short, but a good story. It's a shame the aliens were really never explained though, and I expected to fight some of the frontier raiders based on the intro. Can you make a sequel where the aliens are actually FOUGHT?

An interesting idea, but it felt very railroaded and short. There was also a lack of back-story on both characters and how the enemy managed to get a hold of the Behemoths. I would still like to see a sequel however.

wow...cliffhangers suck,but this game is 8/8, this was so copyed off of mech assualt because it has battlesuits and the mechs are simular to the ones in the games but i still love this

Well, I died a lot, but before I did that, I noticed a few continuity problems, mainly wolfman dying twice, first when leaving the fort, then agan when running away from the alien dudes.
And yeah, i would like to see where this is going, really.

That was pretty flippin' good. I especially enjoyed the, well, the machinery. I always used to love the Mech Warrior Games for the PC
