Well, I just made a story to celebrate this bug being fixed, as well as the 4th of July, and I can get to the main description page, but if I try to edit tags, co-authors, or the pages, etc., I get this error:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0006'
Overflow: 'CInt'
/my/adveditor/chapters.asp, line 16

Well, someone get Alex again. It's only in the advanced editor, the basic one is fine.

Just a word of advice for everyone, dont email alex immediately. Hes incredibely busy, and if iy turns out the bug isnt real, then it's kinda embarrassing.

That the bug isnt actually happening to anyone else.

I just tried it. Works for me. But here's someone that is getting affected. So it is confirmed this is affecting multiple people. It probably isn't just Chris and Imrah though.

Qnd yeah, its certainly true that its affecting multiple people now, but we  shouldnt email alex before knowing that. It should not be something we do instantly whenever a bug appears.

He was able to make a story, so ... sort of yes and sort of no. Yes in that Alex did something and, it apparently worked out for him, but the fact that the bug is still popping up is worrisome and unfortunately, he's still having issues: link

I'm totally for people trouble-shooting and making sure it's not a problem with their account. It's not fair to Alex to holler at him over every little issue, especially if it's only a browser issue... I just agree with Fazz that we had other cases before Chris posted.

Can confirm. Happens when I try to edit the game options.

Only "basic" storygame pages are editable for me on newly created stories and I can't view the "game options" page or create links.  I can create pages, though, just not from the add link button.  And I can view the advanced options on games that are initially created to be an advanced game, but there is little I can modify and the "chapters & pages" isn't viewable.

Moral:  Focus on perfecting your writing on basic game pages until alexp has some free time.

Thanks; I replaced every CInt() with CLng().

In case you're wondering why this all of a sudden was a problem...

CInt() converts text to an Integer number, but when I originally wrote that code (2003?) I didn't realize/consider that it was "only" a 16-bit integer. This means the number has a max value of 32,767... and the "StoryGameID" finally exceeded that value.

So, that's a lot of storygames :)

Might I add that CLng() uses 32-bit integers, which have a max value of 2,147,483,647?

Well, that'll at least buy us another year or so.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I still get the error when clicking on "Game Options" in the "Classic Editor" and "Add New Link" gives me this:

500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

I don't know if it is just this game or not, but I don't want to create unneccessary games if I don't have to.

Advanced games seems to be fixed.  Thanks.

I have this same thing, and it sucks because I always use Basic editor. :[ What to do?

Just use the advanced editor, it's ten times better than the basic editor.

You're right- it's not that bad once I get into it. :)

I promise you'll like it better than the basic as you use it more and more ... though, Alex did fix the basic editor.
