Suggestions for improvements and additions to the site.
This feature was rejected 8/12/2012: If the sneak preview is turned on, anyone can get to your unpublished storygame by manipulating the url of another storygame. The simple way around this is to a) not include any end-game links b) turn sneak preview off (and if you have playtesters, add them as co-authors) and c) report any ratings that your unpublished storygame gets to JJJ.

I don't know if this has been suggested, but is it possible to make the sneak preview in such a way that people can read the story/game you are making, but cannot rate or comment?

Don't put end game links in yet?

You could also add the person as a temporary co-author and leave the sneak preview turned off (providing you trust them enough to not edit your storygame).

Or, could we have a 'disable end game links' button if we turn sneak peak on?

Isn't this should be in Newbie Central?

No.

I kind of agree with this, its not a super important feature, because you have the ability to just not put in end game links like JJJ said. But you really shouldn't have to.

It just doesn't make sense to have people be able to rate a storygame that's not even done yet.

I'll agree with that.

I agree with what Zikara has said. It's not really an important feature as there are a ton of ways around this problem and if you were smart you'd implement them, but at the same time it doesn't make sense for people to be able to rate unpublished storygames.

You could also just exit the window when you get to the end. Or restart. You don't HAVE to rate or comment.

But some people like to rate/comment on unfinished games, so this could allow people to prevent the rating of unfinished games

Tell the person not to comment/rate when you ask them to test it.

What about people that are not testers? They just go to your profile, click on your points, find the game you created but haven't published and play from there, and rate/comment on the unfinished game?

If that's really a problem, then why allow your game to be pre-viewable?

Yes, you have the option to not have a sneak preview. That will prevent anyone from playing the game if you don't want them to.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, you only get points for creating your first three games. You don't get any points for creating stories afterward, so then it isn't on your points' list. Then they can't click on it.

But many unfinished games are first 3 games, and this problem mainly occurs with newer writers

It's never occurred to me when I was new and this problem hasn't come up before, from what I remember. In fact, nobody could read others' point gain until recently when alexp updated the website.

My first game ever I made 3 years before I actually became active. It doesn't exist anymore (I guess I deleted it almost right away).

The next two I got points for are still works-in-progress. The one story I have finished, was the 5th that I started I believe.
