So I was derping around in Sketchbook earlier and decided to try my hand at a self portrait. It was intended to become my profile photo here so I tried to make it decent instead of another one of my half-assed doodles I hardly put any real effort into.

Sadly I drew the sketch portion of it too small along the way so it's pretty pixel-y for my standards...

Anywho, what about you guys? Any fantastic artists that are likely more talented than me? I always love looking at other peoples' art so I can think of what a failure I am, and then get motivated to increase my skills so I can feel accomplished if I ever get better then them.

I like drawing, some say I'm pretty good but I'm not an actual artist or anything. (other words I'm not good at it)

I draw, not on Professional level or anything but I do own a tablet and have a plethora of sketchbooks lying around. I do plan on becoming an animator, though it's harder then I thought it would be.

I can't draw clothing lines unless it's by accident... I'm also terrible at anime... :c

I can, but I usually have to copy from another picture to see how it's done.

That's how I started, I could copy something from just looking at it and then after a while tried making my own design. I like drawing anime but find drawing backgrounds, actions/movement, clothing and their hands and feet difficult :P But the other day I did this awesome tree XD Imma proud.

Hands are eeeeeviiiil, I had to crop my picture down to where I didn't have to detail them in.

I can copy hands and feet, and I can do some pretty nifty FP (first-person) drawing, but feet are just.... I just put shoes on :P

I can't do sandals or high-heels but I can do something like Converse and high tops shoes.

Basically what you said. Anything that actually shows the feet is just difficult....

Actually, Here's my most recent attempt at art - done for the cover of a Bounty Head Bebop Adventure that takes place on Europa (and ultimately not used).

Note that I'm not a real artist. The only thing I actually drew myself in the picture was the sail boat. The rest is all digitally manipulated photographs pasted together - some may even recognize the Rock formation from somewhere here on Earth haha!

Pretty neat, too bad TSR drew that 5 years ago :P

Would that be the rock formation from Cabo San Lucas, by any chance? It looks really similar... though there are probably a lot of rock formations like that all over the planet. :P

I can draw good cities in charcoal or pencil lead and I do okay with maps. Can't draw people or a detailed tree for anything.

ps: charcoal drawings are amazing.

If you have ever seen some of my profile pictures, you can tell I'm pretty good. :P I can spend five minutes with a pencil and paper and come out with something amazing. And my family is always asking me to draw things.

I'll draw a picture, and try to finish it the next day, but then I realize that the pencil lead is wrong, an the xxx that ii drew next to the xxx that i drew yesterday doesn't even look the same, and i'll lose all motivation and .....

Never ever ever stop critiquing yourself, that's one of the major reasons that you get better over time.

....Though it has left me with a lot of unfinished drawings. I'm so fickle about it, I end up drawing something for 15 minutes and and then leave for a few hours to do something else... *sigh*  >_>
