I know you can't help your debate club instincts sometimes, but you might want to consider whether it's a good use of your time on someone who shows up going "I'm a deeply thoughtful intellectual type person, and I don't like political stuff' and then went feverishly grubbing around with their disturbingly damp little goblinoid palms to raise up a month old thread and make a low effort trolly statement as their literal next act.

The forum is separate from the stories. Politics are interesting, but generally don't belong in fictional stories.

1984? Game of Thrones? The Godfather? Politics is in a lot of great fictional stories, and it sounds like you could do with reading/seeing a few of them.

I really love Gorky Park, now that must be a left-leaning story given that the protagonist is an actual communist.

Also, fiction is fiction. It's (mostly) not meant to be real. That's the entire point of most of the genre.

The entire point of The Godfather (at least in my eyes) is to draw attention to the mafia, a highly political topic.

But still talking about the politics while being a part of fiction, right? They are classics, partially because of how strongly they convey the issues with those politics, both at the time and up to modernity.

Okay I'm really going to have to jump in on this one. A book was directly referenced (by you!) and somebody posts a quote from it that's arguably the most famous (and topical!) passage in dystopic literature, in reply to another post that references it. You don't need to memorize text word for word to recognize it the scene, that has as much to do with the topic as how many books you read in a week.
