Any way to read offline, I wonder?

yesterday
Hi there! I am Manu from Germany, and I just stumbled across your nice site. :) I love the stories written by Delight Games, as well as the old Fighting Fantasy Books from back in the days. That’s how I found you.

It seems the stories published here have a save function linked to someones user account which is great. But I am wondering, is there any chance to read the stories offline? Especially in holidays I love to read those books but an internet connection is not always given.

Greetings!

ANY WAY TO READ OFFLINE?!

Hello there, Manu! Welcome to the site! Sadly, it seems like you cannot read the books without an internet connection. You can't even do anything on the site without an internet connection; all you get is a bland No Internet screen blocking you from reading all the delightful storygames on the site. Even continuing the story you're currently reading by clicking on your desired choice isn't possible without an internet connection, because it leads to the same No Internet screen instead of the page behind the choice.

Hope this helps, and hope you can play some of the storygames on this site :)

Welcome to the site.

CYS exists purely as a website so there's no way to access any storygames offline or to download them for later. The save option exists as a way to save progress so that you can close the game and later return to it without having to play through the beginning again. It is quite useful for longer stories or if you read on a few different devices, but you still an active connection to read.

Allright, I see. Thank you both!
Then I have to travel only to places with a stable connection. ;-)

Your site seems amazing anyway.

  1. Welcome to the site, Manu! Quick piece of advice: I'm not certain if this is the case, but don't share your real name online unless absolutely necessary. Putting that aside, I hope you enjoy your stay here!
  2. As previously said, there sadly isn't a way to read the stories offline. If you really want to read a story offline, your best bet is probably to find a good linear storygame and just take screenshots of a path you particularly enjoyed, then read it all over again when you are on holiday. (Or just buy a physical CYOA book, lol.)

Okay, thanks for the advice! I just thought maybe there was a way to download stories somehow, or using an app with an offline mode or something, but I doubted that in the first place.

Ya, I guess there is more than one Manu. ;-)

How did I miss this?! Anyway, hi and welcome to the site! :D I hope that you will enjoy it. When you say you it's as if you're referring to the site as a singular person. As people have already said, I don't believe that there's a way to read offline. I hope you have a good day and I highly recommend Innocence Lost.
