There are several types in action.

The type where everyone makes up a char and a stat sheet according to the creators blueprint or example (creator can go by GM for Games Master) then they all send their 'Plans' the the GM who reads them all and decides the outcome based on planning and creativity. Like  Puppet Master.

The type where actions are posted in the thread and players and the GM simply respond to each others posts to move the story along with the GM occasionally putting in set pieces. Like The one Aman is running at the moment  (Hall of Heros or something... sorry Aman but I forgot its name).

Some are just interactive choose your own adventures where the creator posts a page of info or story then gives options for people to vote on which one to choose.  There is one of these running too, Blackwater... something, if I get to edit this I'll look up the names.

There was even a tower of riddles where the creator simply posted riddles to players (with a little fun back story as well) and players simply had to answer them correctly to advance in a race to the finish.

Basically if a member thinks up a great idea for a game they can either play with, or run for others, they create it and ask for players.

You're thinking of the roleplaying games, which are flooding the forum games section, but aren't the only types of forums games.

Think of dungeons and dragons played on a forum instead of a table and you basically have what most of our roleplaying games are. Most are modified in several ways, but the basic principles are still there.

Question

Another Q do you just jump into a RP forum or do you go into a new one?

Question

Depending on how each GM is like towards their game, you can either submit a request to join an existing game or join a new one. Heck, you could even make your own forum game~

Question

Usually there is a sign up thread saying how you sign up. sometimes it's just "I want to join" but if the game just started that day already, most game master's will let you join a little late

What does OOC mean?

Question

"Out of Character" It's usually used outside of roleplay. When you want to ask a question or just mention something that exists outside the game setting.

Also Feanor, you missed LC-type games.

'Living Continent" kind of a strategy civilization simulator (I think anyway)  :)

Question

Living continent is no where nears what it's actually called haha.

Question

Hehe, from what I've skimmed, you could call it Corn Continent  ;)

Question

^Said In regard to Aman's army of corn-spear wielding, corn house dwelling, corn husk wiping, corn worshiping villagers who are lucky to get a fish head to chew on once in a while haha.

The game itself is really well thought out and deep (I'm not mocking it), but I can't help but poke fun at poor Aman  ^-^
