Good god, I think I made the post a bit too long. XD It triple posted the new thread thing.

@Sethaniel Can you fix that when you get on?

Phobias

Funnily enough there is actually a phobia of eating.

Phobias

Yeah, just found it and make that one bold in the long list of phobias.

Phobias

I thought the phobia for eating was just anorexia.

Phobias

I don't think anorexics are actually scared of food. Just scared of getting fat.

Phobias

There are two phobias for eating actually; One is an inability to swallow for fear of choking, which may lead to the rejection of most solid foods. The other is more a food aversion, where certain food textures or odours cause nauseous feelings or even vomiting. Neither of these food phobias is linked with anorexia, which is a disturbance of the body image. Anorexics believe they are fat regardless of their actual size, and refuse food for this reason.

Phobias

I've know several people who suffer from Cibophobia.  They throw out all leftovers and won't touch aged foods.  I feel that they are missing the best flavors that food can offer.  Most sauces are near tasteless if they aren't at least aged overnight and I can't imagine eating most cheeses while they are still "fresh".

Phobias

XD We're just the opposite. Just th other day, I had chocolate that expired in July of 2012, and jello that expired April of 2013, and then watched my grandpa eat a grape that had a bit of white fuzz by where teh stem used to be.

Phobias

Did you get food poisoning? XD

Phobias

No. I had it two weeks ago and both of us are just fine. ^-^

Phobias

The best pizza is leftover pizza!  And the other day I drank some chocolate milk that started to turn, even though it wouldn't expire for almost a week.  I just don't understand some people.

Phobias

Ehh, it depends on the pizza. Some pizza does not age well, but I will say that I have a fondness for left over buffalo wings--which, I assume, is because of the sauce aging that you mentioned before.

Phobias

For some strange reason, I never have leftover buffalo wings.  :)

It seems that anything that contains spices needs time for all the flavors to meld for maximum deliciousness.

Phobias

I just absolutely love day old stuffing. It is way better than just cooked stuffing for sure.

Phobias

I like stuffing sandwiches, mac 'n cheese sandwiches, ...  Heck, sandwiches make almost everything better.

Phobias

I definitely need to try the stuffing sandwich for sure. "Almost anything better" Almost... I think you mean makes everything better. I could eat a bowl of slimy grubs as long as you slap it between a pair of buns and drench it in sauces. Scratch that I could eat a meatball sub.

Phobias

"I think you mean makes everything better." — That would be improper grammar, considering that "sandwiches" is plural.

Not really, no, nothing makes 'a bowl of lard with a hair in it' better with the possible exception of the garbage.

Phobias

Chocolate doesn't really expire.  That white stuff is called bloom, and it's not harmful.

Phobias

I found out that if you microwave a chocolate bar that tastes a little stale it's a bit messy, but it tastes as good as new.

Phobias

Biophobia - Fear of nature.

I think either that or zoophobia could count as a "fear of life".

Phobias

XD So that list isn't even all of them? Wow. I fear for mankind.

Phobias

Well, all you need to do to make one is take a Greek root and tack "phobia" onto the end of it. So for instance, "sarco-", meaning "flesh", could be made into "sarcophobia", the fear of flesh.

Hmm... so that's what sarcophagus means...

Phobias

sarcomastigophora!

A small, unicellular organism?

Phobias

It means "fleshy whip bearer". To be honest, I had no idea that microbes were into that sort of thing.

Biophobia is more accurately described as the fear of living things, while zoophobia is the fear of animals.

Phobias

My fear of long lists is acting up...

Also, according to the internet trypophobia, or fear of holes is something that exists.

Phobias

My personal favorite is "Phobophobia- Fear of phobias."  I guess it could mean that they think they are contagious.

Phobias

Panphobia is a fear of everything, which I imagine could be interpreted as a fear of life in general.

Phobias

I think I have arithmophobia... Really...

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Well, actually I stared at it for a moment then I started feeling a bit... Queasy.

...I think I'm gonna unwatch this thread.

Phobias

Phobias

How many times did you edit that? XD

Phobias

Zero.

Phobias

What's it doing?

Phobias

Mathematics.

Phobias

He just used a script to generate a random number.

Phobias

Yeah, just a random number from 1 to 1000000000.

Phobias

If only there was a way to use Javascript to make the number get bigger every time the page is refreshed.

Phobias

You could use the difference between a fixed date and the current time.

Phobias

I'll remember that.

Phobias

It's a doomsday clock, when it happens to end on all zeroes, the world will end.

Anyone feeling a bit necro/ thanatophobic?

Phobias

He didn't. He used a script.

Phobias

To clarify, hydrophobia can refer either to rabies or to a (usually more benign) fear of water, not a fear of rabies.

Phobias

Francophobia- Fear of France or French culture. (Gallophobia, Galiophobia) Racist

Anuptaphobia- Fear of staying single. Excuses

Barophobia- Fear of gravity. How do you even

Testophobia- Fear of taking tests. I can't take the test I have testophobia. (I'm gonna see if this works)

Phobias

How about hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia? It's the fear of long words.

Phobias

Yeah, I heard about that one. The irony is that they are frightened of what they are frightened of.

Phobias

What you said applies to everyone. It's not irony.

Phobias

I never said hippopotomonstrousphobia or whatever applies to everyone.

Phobias

No, "they are frightened of what they are frightened of."

Phobias

"It is shap'd, sir, like itself."

Phobias

...Okay?

Phobias

The way you worded it, it sounds like a tautology.

Phobias

I said that they are frightened of what they were frightened of- which is the fear of big words, and since the fear is a big word, they are afraid of what they are afraid of. Make sense?

Phobias

Well how is that ironic?

Phobias

How is that not ironic?

Phobias

Because everyone is frightened of what they are frightened of. I see no irony whatsoever in this.

Phobias

Not everyone. He's talking specifically about hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. The fear of long words, counterintuitively, is itself a long word. It's situational irony.

Phobias

Well, maybe if he said their phobia includes the phobia name.

Phobias

Actually, if you analyze it closely, it's the fear of talkative horse monsters.

Phobias

Pretty reasonable fear, actually.

Phobias

I thought it says the fear of foot-and-a-half long hippos...

Phobias

"Hippos" means "horse". Hippopotamus actually means "river horse".

Phobias

Haha, I know, but I thought that it's a misspelling/conjunction of 'hippo' (the English word) and 'monster', as the part 'poto' is still present in the word.

Booyah, dead languages

Phobias

Who looked at a hippo and said "yeah, that's a horse" ?

Phobias

Drako's ancestors, obviously.

Phobias

Pfft, you with your unrealistic standards for horses. Real horses have curves!

Phobias

Hobophobia- Fear of bums or beggars.

I don't blame you.

Phobias

I have a fear of living things that are larger than a nickel that fly near me. What's that called?

Like I don't care if a small bee or a house fly or a gnat gets in my face, but anything bigger than a small bee is no bueno. Butterflies, birds, wasps, hornets, horsefly (well not so much), moths, locusts, etc. I'm fine with them being 3ft away, not any closer unless there is a barrier.

Phobias

Oh god yes, butterflies are so creepy if you actually look at their faces.

Phobias

I'm... Sorry?

Yeah, me too. . . but I'm not looking at that.  Even if it isn't showing their freaky little mouth-proboscis thing.

Phobias

Pretty fucking creepy bro.

EDIT: Thanks for taking it away.

Phobias

It's probably for the best.

Phobias

Are enough people really afraid of the Walloons that we needed a name for the phobia?  I doubt most people even know who they are.

Anyway, isn't that just racism?

Phobias

Added you another one: Trypophobia.

Don't even think about posting pics that trigger that.

Okay, fine, I know it's technically not a phobia, per se- it's not really fear, it's intense repulsion/disgust.  All I know is I don't want to look at it.

Phobias

Please god. . . I suffer from Trypophobia. . .

http://trypophobia.com/

Phobias

I'm still horrified that apparently not everyone does. What is wrong with you people? How can you not want to kill it with fire?

Phobias

Especially the skin grafting and the bacteria and the eggs on the frog and. . . it's horrifying. My one true fear.

Phobias

What about a girl whose eurethra isn't quite vertically aligned with her vagina? Or, ooh, ooh, morel mushrooms.

Phobias

I'll be running.

Phobias

Then there are the classic lotus seed pods.

Phobias

I prefer morels, though. They have a horrifyingly smokey flavor.

Phobias

Okay, the mushrooms really weren't that creepy. But they're still gone.

You should be aware, I can and will penalize you points f*** with your posts if you squick me when I asked you nicely not to. ^_^

Phobias

You're about as fun as an athletic cup lined with sandpaper. One of those awesome petting zoos where they just let the little kids roam free among the pygmy goats.

Phobias

It's all jus' fun 'n games, 'til someone loses an eye!  :P

Phobias

. . . I think you may be using the cup incorrectly. XD

Phobias

Haha!  Yeah, It did read like I was referring to the cup instead of the comment.  You got me on that one.  :)

Phobias

I don't disagree. I've never really found those places to be that fun, especially when llamas are involved.

Phobias

Who needs an alt when you can talk to yourself, right?  :P

Phobias

I bet he didn't realize he wasn't logged into his main when he commented.

Phobias

My main what?

Phobias

Accounts. It seemed like you were commenting on your own post but tried with an alt, but you didn't remember to log into the other one.

Phobias

Nah, Seth edited my post; I was replying to his edit.

Phobias

Seth can edit posts?

Phobias

Yep. He's an admin.

Phobias

Oh, I thought he could just move them, or delete them.

Phobias

Nope. He can publish articles, unpublish storygames, award points, remove points, ban people, pretend to ban people, edit posts, move posts, you name it.

Phobias

Pretend to ban people?

Phobias

Sometimes Seth just changes peoples' passwords, so they can come back and use their account later.

Phobias

Speaking of which. . . since the banhammer has been laid to rest for the time being, can we let Playa back?

Phobias

Sorry, no. When an account is banned for reals, there's no way to recover it. Not even for an admin.

Phobias

Wait. . . didn't 3J say that he would consider letting Playa return?

Phobias

Ah, no, not the same thing. He would consider letting playa make a new account.

Phobias

Damn, that sucks, because Playa was a co-author for Homo Perfectus 8, a valuable story for the site.

Phobias

He edited mine, didn't he?

Phobias

What did it say?

Phobias

It's the post that says "I'm... Sorry?"; originally, it included a close-up image of a butterfly.

Phobias

Oh, yes, he did. I'd say that the most hilarious time he ever edited someone's post was when a troll made a really graphic post about sex and Seth altered it to say something about making sandwiches.

Phobias

Intriguing...

Phobias

A number of people had replied to the original obscene post, changing it made their responses seem to be in regard to sandwiches.

People who get banned for duel-cheating?

Phobias

I've lost the original thread here: What about people who get banned for duel-cheating?

Phobias

IAP: Who needs an alt when you can talk to yourself, right? :P

Jamescoker1226: People who get banned for duel-cheating?

Phobias

Ah, makes sense.

Phobias

Yeah, I know he didn't get banned, per se, but...

Phobias

Wat.

Phobias

D'aww, he's got Satan's eyes.

Phobias

B-b-but. . . goats!  Little pointy-headed cuddly demonspawn!  They chase the children, knock them down and steal their souls!

I bet you don't like the stingray petting zoo either. . .

Phobias

Krikey, that's a big'n.

Phobias

Steve wouldn't have wanted you to hate the rays.  Especially not cownose rays.

They're so f***** HAPPY!  With their little smiley mouths! They fly up to you and give you kisses.  And they're soft!  You can pet them and they're velvety and delightful.

If I had a stupid amount of $, I would totally get myself a ray pool.

Phobias

Why did you censor fucking h*****?

Phobias

*Waits for Seth to censor Royal's post*

Phobias

^_^

I'm trying to be a responsible adult, for any (by now surely traumatized) children that may be lurking.

Phobias

The holes and clusters aren't bad. It's that really disgusting-looking pictures of like skin grafting and like the thing on the dogs head. Bleh.

Phobias

The only ones I seemed to have any problems with were the first frog, the part when they photoshopped the lotus seeds onto people and the dog. The burn was kinda gross, because it was a fucking burn, (I don't even think there was any holes in that one, I just saw blood, weeping wounds, and a few lumps of pus) and the skin graft was actually surprisingly okay. (only made me feel slightly bad when I realized that it was a net made of skin, but even then, it wasn't that bad and I was ore grossed out by the fact that it was stapled to his skin.) The bug was cheating though, the skin thing has nothing to do with a bunch of small, spongy holes. In fact, I don't even know if there were any holes on that bug.

Phobias

Most of them fucking made me shiver. Especially the skin graft and the dog's ear and the wounds and shit. Now, I'm not super sensitive to blood or ANYTHING, but those weird ass holes. . . it makes me cringe everytime I think about them.

Phobias

Kinda inspired now. In fact, I'm surprised, of all the horror monster cliches they've played out in video games (Claws, no eyes, big teeth, horribly mutilated.) that there hasn't been a monster made out of skin graft flesh nets. Especially because some of them were products of surgery or fucked up bio-science.

Phobias

Sounds like something Rob Zombie would do, making a weird ass monster. I wouldn't watch the movie, even if I am a fan of Rob Zombie.

Phobias

Clive Barker almost did that, what with Pinhead almost having a grid over his face. I think Hellraisers would've been a better/scarier movie if Pinhead was actually a guy covered in a net of wet skin with the pins driven in, but I don't think the autograft system was invented back then.

Phobias

Okay! Thanks for the disgusting facts! Rather talk about some demon shit that skin graft masks and shit.

Phobias

Come to think of it, the boss monster of SH4 had slimy tendril-skintears on its mouth and neck. Why didn't they ad more skin grafts?... I guess it makes it look like it's more natural and covered in the amniotic skin or whatever, but if Walter supposedly made it , I don't think it'd be that natural... Although I guess Walter made everything in SH4 with his mind, so it doesn't matter.

Speaking of trypophobia...

It almost looks like they were tapping into the trauma suffered by the children who ran into Deadhand when playing Zelda late in the evening... I mean, look at that hunched figure, those eyeless eyes and that white, ambiguously gorey skin...

Phobias

Ha, fucker! It won't show because my computer blocks it because SCHOOL!

Phobias

Look up conjeror from Silent Hill on google, I dare ya!

Phobias

That guy isn't so bad, if that is him.

Phobias

I can't do the lotus seeds.  It's a hole, but it's also got a little nubby thing inside the hole, and that's just. . . nope.

Phobias

Oh gosh, my wife had surgery a few years ago, and she had like, 20+ staples all across her chest/abdomen.  I did not want to clean that.  And towards the bottom, you could see that a couple of the staples went in crooked, and that was somehow worse.  That bit scarred worse than the rest, too.

Phobias

I just showed my mother and she was like no it doesn't affect her. And I was like hooooow

Women Everything drawn by Junji Ito.  Ftfy XD.

Have you read his Cat Diary?  It's hilarious. It's just an everyday story about him and his girlfriend's cat, but it's drawn with his . . . unique perspective.

Phobiaphobia: The phobia of phobias

Didn't Bo Burnham write a poem about the phobia of gay spiders?

Phobias

I love the song Words,Words,Words by Bo Burnham! I didn't think anyone else would like his music here.

Phobias

Now I know the official term of my fear (ophidiophobia).

Phobias

Aww... Snakes can be cute!

Phobias

Small snakes, but not the rest... *shudders*

Even caterpillars (not the ones who turn into butterflies) scare me. I don't know why.

Phobias

So... No Titanoboa, then?

Phobias

Yeah, I can't be the only one who thinks Black Mambas are the most hilariously adorable instant-death bio-weapons ever known to man!

Phobias

:D

Phobias

Awwwwh

Phobias

Aww...he just wants to kiss you with his teeth.

Phobias

*manly shriek* Umm... Cute?

Phobias

Look at them! Look at them and their adorable smiley faces!

Phobias

That looks more like- I'm going to poison you now, hehe.

Phobias

Nonsense! That is an expression of innocent joy if I ever saw one! Sure, they might kill the fuck out of you if you upset them, but then they'd look more like >:O as opposed to :).

They're like Mind Flayers that way.

Phobias

You keep talking about that Mind Flayer girl you dated once as a reference to them, but I never knew the specifics...

Phobias

She didn't let me remember too many of the specifics. All I know is that I should probably regret it, and that she date-raped me several times.

Phobias

My mom's boyfriend owned a snake, and he named it Roy. Well, Roy was a boa constictor and got out of his cage, and crawled over my mom in her sleep, then sat behind the TV, unbeknownst to everyone.

Scariest fucking four days of my life.

Phobias

Boa constrictors are some emotionless-looking motherfuckers, and are nowhere near as adorable as the Black Mamba.

Phobias

No, not quite emotionless, more or less, like they know they can fuck you up, but only if he feels like it. Lazy bastards.

Phobias

You're fucking evil.

Phobias

That's only when they're facing you and possibly preparing to kill you. Otherwise they look like this.

And that blank, vacant expression has a striking similarity to the expression of Micheal Meyers.

Phobias

I can't see the image, sorry.

Phobias

Then I'll post more, just to torment Derpy!

Phobias

I'm not actually scared of snakes, I mean, holes frighten me more than these.

Phobias

I know, I just thought we were posting snake pictures to torment derpy.

On a completely unrelated note,

Phobias

Whoa! That one is especially cool.

Dumb people.

Phobias

That doesn't count. He says he's not afraid of little snakes, only big ones, like this!

Phobias

Well damn.

Phobias

Behold!

TITANOBOA!

Phobias

Phobias

NO! NO! NO!

Phobias

Ah, everyone's favorite god-killing, world-devouring serpent.

Phobias

It frightens me almost as much as Oxbow lakes do.

Phobias

Interesting. Take a look at this happy camper and all his little pals.

Phobias

That looks like it's from a stage play that I desperately want to see....

Phobias

It may be from a play, for all I know; that much raw human dread is hard to come by organic.

Phobias

Weird. It isn't loading for me.

Linky?

Phobias

Phobias

One smile, and then--boom. Dead.

The happiest smile that you've ever seen is the last thing you see.

Phobias

You wouldn't see the smile though, you'd just see the big open mouth with the fangs, the smile's only from the side.

Phobias

Actually, it's less of a boom and more of a thud.

Phobias

Or just a "phht" if you happen to be sitting in a well-balanced position.

Phobias

AAAAAHHHH! *smashes through window*

Phobias

Yay me! Arachnophobia for days!

Sometimes I just think of a Halloween costume involving spiders. It's weird, but then I cry in the corner after my mind shows me a big picture of a giant turantula.

Phobias

Am I the only one..?

Phobias

Phobias

Damn son.

Ehhh. Makes me a bit worried, but not terrified like I saw a snake.

Phobias

Does that....have @!#$%^& wings?!?!

Phobias

You can swear on the forums...

Phobias

I don't want to unless necessary. Now is not the time to, but I am completely capable of swearing.

Phobias

Yes, that spider has wings. Go pray to your gods for redemption as you slowly realize that you're already in Hell.

Phobias

*screams* HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Phobias

It's weird to think that people actually suffer from some of these. I laugh at it but I really don't have a place to seeing I'm terrified of syringes. Freaking syringes.

Phobias

A fear of hypodermic needles actually isn't that uncommon.

Phobias

Anthropophobia :'(

Phobias

Boo.

Phobias

That's it! I'm unwatching! I can't take these snakes any more!
