Player Comments on Dead End

Decent game, slightly disappointed that there really wasn't much humor in the story (aside from the very beginning where you had the option to spit on Tom and the dialogue after you try to take on the horde with anything that wasn't the chair) but plenty of action. However it didn't feel like the choices I made mattered; like when the army were apparently killing anything that looked like zombies. I decided to pick the stupid option and run through the army shooting at basically anything that moved which I thought would end up getting me killed but somehow I managed to get past them without a single scratch and also take out 3 of them as I charged past. The missions were also way too easy to complete; like at the beginning where I had to kill Tom which was apparently mission 1. There was no difficulty there, all you had to was pick up a weapon (hammer, baseball bat or screwdriver) and press 'use item'. Mission 5 was also annoying ; there was no thinking required, all I needed to do was go ''There's a guy trying to kill me. Let's kill him.''

A rather fun and interesting storygame to say the least. This really reminded me a bit of the Dead Rising series from Capcom in a way, with all of the available weapons and sometimes miscellaneous items that you can use to face the undead. There were some noticeable issues with grammar in this, or lack of detail in some parts, but the game does play well for the most part.

Something that I found to be interesting was the mission system of this storygame, they were decent enough but I couldn't help but feel that they could've been better written or more expanded on to make this storygame feel more exciting overall. Still, the missions do give this story a rather game-like feeling and I suppose that's something that was intended, so it does pay off well enough in the end.

Although this was a interesting experience, there is a lack of a strong or coherent plot in this. I think that adding more story aspects in general would have been to this game's benefit. Things like memorable characters, memorable scenes, and memorable dialogue go a long way in leaving a lasting impression on your reader.

This was a rather interesting adventure at the end of the day, so good work. You show some remarkable promise as a writer in my opinion. ^_^

A fun zombie game. I felt a massive sense of deja vu with this very first chapter - I could swear I've read that before, picking up all those items. Maybe I tested it or something.

The writing was pretty clean and brutal, the descriptions good. The hero was a violent maniac, killing with no remorse, which was surprising for a normal joe who's never killed anyone, but I liked it. '"Thank you." You say and slit his throat.' That part made me cackle.

A gory fun fest worth its salt. Zombie heads exploding, one man's race to escape certain death and save his city. Good job, DV.

This is quite a fun game with an interesting concept! My only issue is the amount of time it takes to do certain actions. You have 80 hours max and it shouldn't take an hour to exit a restaurant. That's all.

This was awesome and very entertaining. It seemed sort of like a zombie movie almost and it was full of details. I think it could've been a little longer though.

I literally came to a Dead end.

Oh boy. This was a rough one to revisit. I was clearly playing way too much Dead Rising while I wrote this. Not TERRIBLE for however old I was at the time, but definitely not worthy of being published. Gathering an assortment of different options is a neat idea, but unforgivably underutilized. You only have two chances to use them before abandoning all of them for the shotgun. What a waste. I clearly hit a point where I just wanted to finish the damn thing and rushed through it. There are far too many glaring grammatical errors and no real options. You can either follow the linear path or die.

The concept of a satellite that awakens the recently deceased is nonsense, but it's a neat little idea. The motivations of the terrorists being, "We want to kill Americans before of their gross porn and stuff" is absolutely hilarious. Overall, I gave it a 2/8. Nice try, 13 year old me.

More people need to use the thing you used to pick up items, especially for zombie stories...

It sucks. While the ability to hold items is clever, there is next to no story, no character development & nothing to keep you playing. Add that to an eternal choice outlet & a spontaneous death. The only thing that I could have done differently in the hope of furthering the, 'story', is to kill the warehouse squatter (who I envision as Clint Eastwood for some reason). It hardly seems worth lt though.

I died pretty early on. But really well written so I gave a high rating. I can appreciate good writing. :)

It should be longer and span over a longer period of time. Also it should be less convenient it seems that everything is just too easy. When you said that there would be few real weapons, I wasn't expecting to receive a shotgun shortly after. Good idea for a story, just needs some improvement in some aspects.

I thought it was really good. Just maybe fix done grammar here and there- remember paragraphing. But otherwise, it really was great. 7/8.

That was too easy. The writing was smooth and flowed nicely but the path to take was too obvious and I felt the story was lacking in creativity.

It was pretty good, a few misspelled words and at one point I believe I saw missing links which made it impossible to finish, but other than a few minor things like that the story was really good and the setting was great. I would say maybe during certain points it probably should have been a bit harder and maybe added in some more freedom, but those things are forgivable, good job, I liked it. :)

That was a very good story, I didn't even believe Short Way was right! I just chose it for shits and giggles! Great story though!

Good stuff. I like the inventory items. I think there is a bug in the mall though... I just keep going in circles until time runs out, even after I take every single item.
The path to the "best ending" is fairly obvious. But the story was well thought out and the descriptions are fun.

It was alot of fun and I spent some time on it thinking about my choices, I got what I think is the best ending first time so will play again to find the others.
Only major problem that ruined my enjoyment was I got stuck in a plaza loop that ended with me having no links at all to click so I had to go back about 30 pages and avoid the mall entirely because everytime I went there I ended up with great guns but unable to leave. I skipped it and just finished with the weapon you get at the start.

Easy. At least it made me glad whenever I see "You completed mission blah blah".I knew I was in the right track. lol.

not bad, way too menny spelling mistakes, and a bit too easy, but the writing and ideas them selves, accept for the more unoriginal hollywood moments, such as the sniper rifle in a gun store, I mean really, where is this store?, Columbia?, but again, accept for that, it was good.

Loved it.^_^ it was fun. My only qualm was it could've been a bit longer, and you could've made the hours actually mean something. Maybe a few quests or whatever that made it so you didn't get to helecopter on time or ran out of hours? And also I was HOPINGGG we'd get to use everything from the apartment. it seemed such a waste to collect all that stuff for neu reason and then take the shotgun and yeah. Maybe perhaps but together a team of survivors to help you with the terrorists or sumpth like that, or perhaps take time searching for ammmo and weapons. It was a good game, but it could've been tweaked a bit.Got the best ending, so yay :D

I really hate zombie games, zombie movies, everything about zombies... but this wasn't all that bad. although I'm REALLY sick of the word zombie after reading this. 4/8 would have been better if zombies weren't so trite.

Okay, so I've tried to beat this 4 times and I keep getting trapped in the mall. It literally just loops and does not let me leave. Was a fun game, but due to that large error I can only score it a 4.

Apparently it takes an hour to shoot a guy in the head or run into a hallway lol. Anyway, loved the story, but 80 hours might have been a little much. At least I got the good ending :)

ZOMBIES yay! This game is very good. In my opinion, it's a bit too straightforward and on the easy side - I got the best ending already playing it only one time. A little more challenge, maybe more differing paths to chose would make the story even better.

This game is freaking awesome. The diction is great, the plot outstanding. My only complaint is that there are some parts of the game that make no sense. SPOILER: How is it that taking the long, stealthy way behind an attacking army gets you killed, but simply sprinting in front of them gets you to the next mission without a scratch?

This is a GREAT zombie game... but it's STILL a zombie game, and I think that tried-and-true genre of CYOA is starting to wear just a little bit thin. Good pictures, and good weapons, even if there are so many of them that I never got a chance to use them all. You should cut down on weapons, or better yet, give us more chances to use them; with so much happening in the game, there should definitely be more choices.

Usually, I'm not a fan of any sort of zombie games, but this one is one of the exceptions. Very enjoyable and fun, however, when I went to the mall, I was forced to use the back button because it became a loop with no escape. It was pretty easy and very fun.

Fun game, I like how there's so many different weapons.

Very nice mission system, but there wasn't much to do at any given time, it even said there's nothing to do there. I didn't even explore the school. Not to mention that there are plenty of holes and trap loops that force you to click links until your hours run out. If you gave more of the game more meaning and fixed a few things, this could be a great zombie game.

great writing, and exceptional for a zombie story. however, it seemed choppy and could have used some proofreading before publishing. also, in chapter 2 i couldnt find anything to do. all i could do was just go home and waste my hours.

I don't usually like zombie games, but I loved the humor in this one. 'Striking them out' for good! Lol. It's fun reading the descriptions when you pick up new weapons. Well written, lots of plot and action. I'll probably play it again later to try and do better (because I died horribly and didn't get the best ending!)

I gave it a 6/8. Much better plot then any zombie game out there, although it was linear (one good ending) and the grammar (although not bad) was not good. This was the best rating I ever game a zombie game AND IN MY OPINION THIS IS BEST TER THEN DZD. WHICH IS AMAZING. Great game man.

I will go through this again at a further date -- I like what I'm seeing.
