What should I do for a prequel?

I'm currently working on a prequel for "ERROR: NAME NOT FOUND"
I'm wondering if I should have it be a short story, a CYOA game, or have the community choose what he does, and I update the story accordingly.

With a short story, I could tell the story the way I want to, without having to think of any other ways it could happen.
With a CYOA game, each person could have their own experience, but I'd have to think of how else it could have gone. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, I just don't have any ideas on how to do that right now.
With the community choosing, I could guide it to what I have in mind, but there is the chance that almost nobody participates, and everyone will have the same experience.

I'm thinking of just doing a short story, but I also like seeing a story change over time. What should I do for the prequel?

Wow what you want to write. Not sure anyone else would have any particilar opinion about this, or why what anyone else thinks would matter to you either. You either have a particular way you want to tell your own story, or you don't particularly feel an urge to write it either way. In which case why not wait until you have something in mind that does interest you instead.

If you're thinking I'm asking what the story should be, then sorry for the confusion. I already have a rough plan laid out, and I am asking if anyone has an idea as to what format I should write it in.

You being the one that knows what the story is are also way more likely to have a preference for one format over another, I really doubt anyone else is going to have a strong opinion or the context to know what would be a better fit.

And your first storygame seems to have been written with AI. Avoiding doing that for the next if you're going to post it here is really all I do have an opinion about.

Agggh, I knew I had horrible timing with that AI question in my first post. It isn't made with AI, that's a completely unrelated story that uses the body horror stuff I was talking about in said post. Although I am interested as to why some people think it's AI.

Because it reads like it was written by a retarded genderless robot.

If you are looking for advice, I would not recommend having the community choose.  Most of us are really not interested in having you type prompts based upon what we say into an AI and then tell us what it says.  Additionally, weren't you the one all worried that folks would steal all your brilliant story ideas? So why would you try to get all the ideas from us? You are a persistantly retarded newb.

See previous response for the AI part

See another previous response for if you think I'm asking about ideas for the story itself.

I am not making a good first impression here, am I?

Dude, you must be way stupider than even I am giving you credit for.

I would suggest retreating from the forums if you're going to whine about the impression you're making or worse, try to defend yourself from being called stupid (not that you've done the latter, but covering my bases here).

Go read, rate, and review some storygames in need with all this free time! Then work on writing a story yourself.

You haven't really done anything heinously wrong yet, but you've not started off on the right foot, no. I'd recommend reading a few site etiquette articles as well as pinned forum posts before saying more.

Yeah, I think I will stop posting on the forums for a little bit. That last part was meant as a joke, but I can see how it could come across as whining. I will read those etiquette articles after this as well.

Write what you think fits best. Look at the reviews when you publish it. Then either learn from the project or ignore the reviews and continue doing your own thing.

You might've noticed the top authors mostly do their own thing until they are really good at doing their own thing. What they don't do is having AI write for their own thing or letting others choose how their own thing will look. Because then it will no longer be their own thing.

Write it as a short story and publish it here for feedback. Given that you can't think of different paths for it to become a storygame and the community isn't here to spoonfeed you ideas, that's probably your best option.

Write a prequel story game (1) with multiple endings and have one of the endings lead into your first game (2).

Write a sequel story (3) for one of the other endings of your prequel (1).

Write a sequel (4) to that new sequel (3) that allows one of the characters to travel back in time to the events of the prequel (1).

Rewrite the prequel as a new story game (5) but this character who travelled back in time keeps screwing with the options that would have led to the second sequel (3).

Keep repeating this process.
