I am creating a story and i want to create a money system in which the player can purchase weapons i looked in the tutorial and got lost on how the variables work. I do not really care how they work but can someone tell me how to give the player money and how to award money lose money ect. I just really cant seem to figure it out it is a crucial part for the story.

In order to get a monetary system working, you're going to have to care about how variables work. It seems to me like you're not interested in putting the requisite work into making an advanced storygame.

Feel free to ask a specific question and I, or anyone else will help you, but I don't think that you're approaching this in the right way. I'll start you off with a general plan of action:

• Know how to manipulate a variable

You'll also need to set your game to advanced. This can be done through the new story wizard or from the game properties page of an existing story.

When i said i did not care about variables i did not mean i did not want to know how they work i was trying to avoid anyone missing the point of my question. However thank you for the links they look promising.

Beside each page link on your page editor is a  +- button (the plus is above the minus).

That button will show you the variables you have, and will allow you to add/subtract do other things to the variable.

When the player clicks the link, the variable will be affected however you tell it to be by the time they reach the page the link sends them to.

You should use the advanced editor. This can be done with scripting as well, but this solution should be easier to understand, as not everyone plays well with scripting.

O and would a health system work with the variables too?

Really, any sort of system you want to work that's number based (within reason) would work.

So yes.

Think about what a variable is and you'll easily be able to answer that.
