Player Comments on Raceia
There was not really any real plot there. It also lacked any kind of character development and there were nearly no descriptions at all.
Now for the Spoiler warning: There are spoilers so be warned.
I did not explore every path but seemingly the brown key did nothing.
Also when I reached the point where you find the sword it just disappeared again out of my inventory. I never tried using items before but I figure it is not working correctly.
I liked that you used pictures to show the paths you can choose in the maze.
The random deaths behind nearly every door was a bit annoying though.
I would normally also judge the plot but it seemed to be non existent. You just arrive on a island and start exploring with no reason what so ever to even be there. The game also lacks dialogue and real choices that lead to different outcomes. It just seems to be The bad end (death) or the good end (treasure).
I rated 3/8 mainly because you took the effort to use the pictures and also because you bothered with using items.

This had a huge lack of character development, and detail. I felt like this was very short. If you added more detail and backstory and stuff to this storygame, the length and rating would rise. I had a lot of unanswered questions as I was playing the storygame, and they still aren't answered after I got to the end. This had no sense of accomplishment or closure for me, and the ending didn't really feel like an ending
I liked this a bit I suppose. There was a decent writing style, and some nice humor here and there.
I spotted a few grammar and spelling errors every now and then, but nothing that can't be fixed with a quick and easy proofreading :)
The choices seemed completely illogical and random, things that just don't make sense to do in the situations the character is in. These weird, dumb choices should not be here in all honesty.
3/8.

It didn't have the character development and plot that would warrant a higher rating from me, but it was fairly amusing. Most of all, I liked the fact that when you explore you get little pictures on the side that allow you to visualize where you are and where you are going. It helps with not getting lost.

This story was short and it was more of a game, but I actually liked it. I didn't expect to like it since it was the lowest rated game in the Fantasy Category, but it's pretty good.
I got the emerald key, brown key, and golden key. I ended up getting the treasure.
I love the adventuring branching aspect. Each page should have been more developed as it was short, but I really liked the branching. This is an old-school adventure story, it reminds me of some of the older CYOA books, except the writing could have been done so much better.
Overall well done! I enjoyed it, but I just wish the writing was better. It was fun for a snack break, but I feel like you could have done so much more with this premise, so I'm going to give this a 4

This deserves a higher rating than a 3 simply because you bothered to include very useful pictures during the maze part of the game. They actually looked like underground paths too! Makes doing a maze a lot more fun since you don't have to arbitrarily memorize everything and can just see where you are!
I gave it a 5...maybe that's too high but whatever. Sometimes I just want to play a turn your brain off game and this served that purpose very well! :D

This was a fun little game. Though I think it fits more into the puzzle category of stories given it feels more like one. There wasn't really much of a plot other than you trying to find the treasure of Raceia which is fine I suppose but you could have at least made the main character interesting.
I tried all the paths and for the most part, they either end in death or they lead to the one true path which is you discovering the treasure. The only thing that really irked me was that you couldn't use the brown key anywhere so why give it to me???
I think had it had some more interesting plot about why everyone wants the treasure of Raceia or what your character's motivations to get it were, this would have gotten a higher ranking.

I'm learning from reading stories that endings that end with death that don't have a good reason for that are frowned upon. For example, I'm okay with something like "choose to throw your spear at the smilodon, or try stand your ground and stab it as it charges," with either one leading to death so long as there is a reasonable series of events that cause it (e.g., you miss the throw and die, or, the smilodon dodges your spear when you raise it at the last instant and bites your neck; some reasonable explanation is all I ask). In this game, however, some of the "two choices, one of which leads to death" options seem entirely random and aren't really explained in any plot driving way.
If I die,I want to know why.

Meh. Still managed to get the good ending by picking pretty random choices. Games with the maze concept don't usually do so well because what you choose depends completely on luck, and that doesn't make the game very interesting.

Alright, right off the bat, what is Raceia!? Why are you here? Who are you? I also find that the complete lack of descriptions of the environment is rather annoying. All you can do is guess when you're going someplace. This, along with the random thing of you getting to a door, trying a key, failing, and then immediately dying of starvation makes no logical sense. All in all, there needs to be some better, more logical choices, and more descriptions, for things to make sense.
There are still a couple spelling and grammar mistakes such as "Ah ole" instead of "A hole" and "Walking down the ladder". You don't walk down ladders. Otherwise, the proofreading seems to have done the job.

Pretty good for a ten-year-old. The mazes seemed kind of useless, though. Storygames where you just pick random choices aren't really fun.

Yey! I win! Pretty cute game, I enjoyed it but it would've been cool if there was some logic behind the choices you make instead of just going in random directions and hoping you don't die.

My biggest problem with the story was probably my ending. Failing to open a door with a key resulted in starvation. It felt random, unexpected. I did enjoy the story, from what I did. I found it a little difficult to decide where to go, mostly because it was just "West, East and North" I would of preferred a description of where each one lead.
