Actually, the better wording of that is, that english words with se have been changed to ze. The American language is the one that changed. Most english countries use the english (UK) version of spelling. However, to further annoy me, it seems that both UK and US spelling is now used interchangeably here in Australia, so you can now spell things either way, and word processors don't detect an error. How odd is that, being able to spell the same word more than one way, and it's now acceptable in my country? I never understood why the U.S. changed it's spelling from other english countries though, but I guess words simply 'evolve' and localise over the years, especially since the continents were so far away from each other (before airplanes, of course). But it's confusing now in Australia, where you can ask someone how to spell something, and young people can offer you two different answers.
