A small introduction in a Elephantine world

So, I figured I may as well post an official introduction.

This account was made almost exactly a year ago from now, actually (IIRC, December 2012); I just didn't get around to doing anything, really (lol).

There's quite a bit of information in my profile describing myself, but so I'll just give a few sentences.

I'm currently a junior in highschool (age: 17). I'm a closet atheist, due to my entire family being devoutly Christian, close enough to be fanatical (i.e., anti gay marriage). I'm a libertarian, and am slowly becoming a moral nihilist (that there's no objective morality, not that I'm an insufferable douchebag who has no heart). As evidenced by the username, I'm a cynic, but not overly much.

I suppose that's more or less it, and if anyone has any questions, I'll obviously answer them.

Tally-ho, chaps.

Welcome! - back! I feel like you should be welcoming me since I've only joined quite recently! Lol, nice to meet you, you may call me OMW, OldMan, Mr. Willakers, etc. Basically, it doesn't matter what you call me - but what should I call you? O.o

I guess there's not much way to shorten Cynical, is there? I guess Cynic, would be fine. Or Cynical, since that's not exceptionally long, in and of itself.

Welcome to the site! You shared a lot about yourself, but I haven't seen anything on storygames. I hope you enjoyed some storygames on this site. Played any good ones?

Kind of interesting that we've gotten a few new intros with people describing themselves as cynics. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. Just kind of interesting.

Ah yes, the storygames, I actually wish someone had asked me this question earlier; I was going to put my personal top five or ten on the "Your favorite storygames" thread, but it was several months old, and necroing of threads is usually frowned upon in most online communities, so I was like "meh."

Naturally, Eternal is one I absolutely adore (which shouldn't be surprising, since it's on virtually everyone's list ever), and it would easily land my Top 3 list. It's got to be Endmaster's magnum opus.

Dead Man Walking is another personal favorite. Possibly the single most expansive storygame on the site (one of Endmaster's may actually exceed it in length, but I've never seen an official page count for any of his stories, so I don't know).

Last, "Farewell, My Childhood Self" I absolutely loved. In my personal opinion, it's the best Romance story on the site. It had the perfect blend of melancholy and joy for me to not be overwhelmed either way.

All three of these earn a personal score of 8/8 (Best of the Best), for me.

Honourable mentions:

Snow: This would have overtook My Childhood Self if it wasn't so goddamn depressing. The end of the story actually elicited a tear from me... legit. But then, I suppose that's what it was going for. 7/8 (Amazing)

The Homo Perfectus series: What can I say, I LOVE superhero stuff, so an actual superhero themed storygame was brilliant to me. It has a good idea in how it handles the superpowers; the writing could definitely improve, however. 6/8 (Good)

Gotta say, I like your tastes. Farewell, My Childhood Self (I keep forgetting to rate that one) and Snow are at my top as well. I can be a sucker for romances. Still haven't played Dead Man Walking or Homo Perfectus yet, but judging from everyone else's posts it sounds like it's worth the time. For the ones I did read, your descriptions for them are dead on. Glad to have another person who loves these storygames on the site.

I kind of wish the favorite storygame thread was still around for discussions like this, but I suppose introduction threads is a fine way to talk about them, too.

You mentioned Eternal and Endmaster in the same sentence.

Will you be my new best friends.

Eh, that's okay, Cy didn't throw one until a year later, so you're technically right on time. ^^
