I used to mess around on this website years ago, back when I was horrible at writing. I've returned to writing prose (which I haven't done in a while), so I thought it'd be cool to experiment with this site to see what I can make with it. I'll probably read a few stories too, I remember some of the bigger ones, particularly a zombie one and one with a necromancer? I don't recall. If you have any suggestions for what genres you think I should try and explore in my game-making, or if you have any suggestions for games I should check out on here, let me know. I don't recognize a majority of them.

Those stories would be Dead Man Walking by BerkaZerka, and Necromancer, by Endmaster. You'd probably also enjoy End's story Death Song (same world as Necromancer and set to parallel events), and Eternal and Rogues.

And BZ is working on a hugely ambitious storygame called Legacy of Dracula's Castle right now, you can find the thread in the Writer's Workshop.

We've actually rotated out a ton of the featured stories in the last couple of years though so that's plenty for you to check out, there's been some pretty incredible talent around here and overall quality has shifted steeply upwards.

As for what you should write, well that mostly depends on what kind of ideas you have that you can maintain your interest in over potentially a pretty long period, as these stories can be a lot of work. But it does seem like we get a massive quantity of fantasy compared to everything else, so to me, seeing other genres can be pretty refreshing. We have a few new categories that could really use some padding out as well.

There's been a few small changes to the storygame editor itself, but nothing major. If you have any questions while you're brushing up on it you can just ask though.

Oh and go to BradinDvorak's profile for the Firefox and Chrome extensions if you want dark mode, quick saves, and a dev panel to mess with variables while testing and so on.

I'll check those out. I'm not all too into fantasy stuff, so if I do end up writing something, I highly doubt it will be of that genre. I appreciate the tips and I'm going to get that dark mode addon now, never knew that was a thing.

I'll check these out. The first one looks particularly interesting. It sounds vaguely familiar, but I was last on this site 4+ years ago, so it's hard to say.

I have absolutely no idea. I've gone through lots of different usernames. Thanks for the offer though.

I don't think I ever wrote much of anything, might have chatted on forums a bit, so there isn't really much that needs to be salvaged there.

Well if your name is a reference and not a coincidence, then I assume you enjoy sci-fi, which is in fact a genre on CYS. The featured storygames are all good, although a lot of the sci-fi games are quite overrated (namely the tsmpaul ones and Homo Perfectus)

It's Blood Meridian reference, which is a fact I already knew and I totally didn't need to ask anyone who was in the vaguely familiar avatar.

However, I'm going to guess your talking about James Holden from the Expanse, which I have also seen all of. I never really noticed how the username could go both ways. Pretty funny. The Expanse was a pretty good show, I haven't read the books, though. If I had to be named off an Expanse character it'd probably be something off Josephus Miller (which is a great name) or Amos Burton. James Holden was fine, but not that great of a character imo.

And yes, I do like Sci-Fi, when it's done right at least.
