The forum is separate from the stories. Politics are interesting, but generally don't belong in fictional stories.

1984? Game of Thrones? The Godfather? Politics is in a lot of great fictional stories, and it sounds like you could do with reading/seeing a few of them.

Okay I'm really going to have to jump in on this one. A book was directly referenced (by you!) and somebody posts a quote from it that's arguably the most famous (and topical!) passage in dystopic literature, in reply to another post that references it. You don't need to memorize text word for word to recognize it the scene, that has as much to do with the topic as how many books you read in a week.

1. I have read 1984 before, although it has been roughly a year since I did.
2. I typically remember the general plot and a few minor details that seem interesting to me in the moment
3. I would have continued the conversation earlier, however:
   1. I didn't notice that it had a reply
   2. I didn't have the time to do so

I admit that I don't remember the quote, and that I probably should have recognized it or realized that it came from 1984, but I did not lie when I said that I had read it before and that I read very fast.
