What do you like? What are your experiences? What kind of story would you want to write? Some people say to write what you know. But I think much better advice is to write what you feel. Feelings transcend experiences. After all, how many of us have experienced war firsthand, yet we have so many stories where war is a central theme. Good research can make up for lack of knowledge and experience. Though, if you do already know something well, that might be a good component to incorporate into the whole. For example, a great many of Stephen King's stories are set in Maine. Why? He lives there and he knows the land, so it's easier for him to write the setting and incorporate it meaningfully into the plot. Hope this helps.

You're not obliged to write anything.

If you don't know what you want to write about, then you're not ready to write. Like nmelssx said, there's no obligation to publish a story here just because you're a member, and if you try to force it it will show.

I'd suggest just letting it set for a while. Play some of the games on here and see if inspiration hits you. As the others said, don't force the game, and just let things sit for a while. Follow up your interests. Find the genre you like and embrace that for a bit and see what pops up in your mind.

If you actually enjoy writing, as I do, and you just don't know where to start, try looking at the article Storywriting: How to get Ideas. There are some fun exercises on there to help you get your creative juices stirring. When I get stuck and can't think of what to write, my method is to find a blank sheet of paper. On one side, I write 3 or 4 Titles for stories. Then on the other side, I write some random plots or scenes. Then, I mix match them and challenge myself to write a few paragraphs (or a few pages lol) about each one. Sometimes a random beginning can turn into an interesting and unique story.

And if you just wanna read stories instead? Well that's fine, too! Above all, have fun and enjoy this amazing site. XD

That's awesome, Derp... I prefer creating my own characters, but that is a very helpful site for newbies or people who struggle to create good plots or characters.

Write about whatever video game character you like to masturbate to, only now they're a wolf!

I hope you appreciate my advice, this shit practically writes itself. Or at least is easy to smear around on a computer screen.

I'll assume you're being sarcastic about the "original" part.

Is this your theory behind the shadow game?

What to write about? Any ideas or suggestions?

I have no idea what is going on with that game, or with any of these others posted recently. It's not as easy to pin down as the origins of the WC plague, but it seems to me we've somehow gotten the attention of another batch of loathsome, mentally deficient children, and they're making new accounts and hitting us with this kind of crap before they even bother to take the time to click around and see what the site's about.

I just read your comment on the game. It made me smile. Only now, you'll probably start getting flooded with PMs from the kid - whining about how rude you are - like I was last night. The new entitlement culture and everyone gets a trophy crap makes me sad.

Whiny PMs are still novel and amusing to me, at least. I only got two or three during even the worst of the WC invasion. :P

All the shitty story games were funny at first too, then starting to get tiresome, then I just woke up this morning, clicked to the site and went 'no, just no'. >.<   I think my tolerance levels have finally been surpassed.

Ahahaha, he did reply in the comments.

Guys sorry you say it's "shit" but really it was just a practice and I'm making a better story called "the spirit wolves" and it's WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better and I chose to do shadow as s wolf because in real life I'm making a real good comic about it and I think next I will put multiple stories in a list and see which one you guys wanna do so don't give up on me this one will be better PROMISE!!!!! And I will probably edit Shadow as a wolf

And then he removed it, but not before I responded:

If it was just practice why would you post it?

I'm done even attempting to be nice about things like this. It is shit. You know it's shit. You didn't even make the slightest attempt to produce anything that WASN'T shit. This isn't me being mean, this is me having enough respect for you to assume you're capable of basic cognizant function.

I mean you and the others like you obviously wouldn't join a site like this and then not even take the time to read a single other story or article, or have a look at the forums before slamming your fists down on your keyboard a few times and hitting 'publish', right? That's preposterous, to even imagine someone with human level intelligence failing at something so basic.

And no one who cares enough about writing to join a site dedicated to it would publish a story unless it was something they proofread and put effort to and could stand by and be proud of, surely?

So what is happening here is you and the others are deliberately trolling. Obviously. And it was very cute, but not so much anymore, so please stop now. :)

I kind of want to put some variation of that in my profile and just start linking every one of these stories to it in lieu of a review. Because these are the questions that constantly come to mind and baffle me. 'Why was this posted? Why? Just why? What made them think they had to post something, or that there was such a hurry they couldn't even work on it a full day? How did they look at the other stories, the forums, read the articles, then look at what they had here and truly, honestly consider it acceptable for publishing and expect a good response?'

Truly the great mystery of our time.

The bit that confuses me the most is how loads of them will use the blurb to write something along the lines of:

"Hi guys, just to let you know in advance, this story is really short... I mean really, really short, I threw it together in like half an hour at most. Also the spelling and grammar are all wrong, there's a load of broken links and just in general, it's complete and utter crap. I am completely aware of how crap it is, but you see, it's my first storygame, and because it's my first storygame I expect you all to ignore how crappy it is for some reason and write nice things about it. So you can now all pat me on the back and tell me what a good job I did for a first try. Don't say anything bad about the game or I'll dismiss you as a "hater" and carry on writing crappy games anyway... Enjoy!" >.<

It's even more interesting when that opening blurb is actually longer than the entire "story..."

Just let the idea come to you, they always do. I got inspiration for a storygame after I had a debate about different types of governments.
