Amazing!

This looks just like a real newspaper, love it!

No problem, and I'm honored to have been the interviewer. It was really fun making this, and I plan to make more.

Oh cool, we've had some of these "newspapers" in the past though this is probably the first using actual images.

I really wanted this to feel like a real newspaper, or as much as an amateur could manage. Just didn't feel right making this in just a text format. Glory to CYS!

You should lean into the dark, gritty city story. I saw night in Chicago(didn't rate it yet but Im going to) and I thought it was really well done. The cover was cool, I think you and Mystic make cool covers. I feel like you could really lean into the "urban horror" and write something super cool, that's a good niche.

My big project at the moment is doing a conversion of a board game set in the same world.  It will lean into the urban horror, of course, but with more heavily gamified elements.

Only because you asked... (I actually thought about this on my own, but you beat me to the punch so I'm replying this to you instead!)

0. This is a crossword puzzle.

1. I tried to mix easy and hard hints but idk how well I did on that. I imagine some people will get stumped while others won't.

2. There are no spaces. Multiple word answers are bunched up as one word. This includes names.

3. If its not obvious, this is a mix of CYS names, storygames, and "CYS keywords" (with one exception which is noted in the hint itself)

4. Some names are shortened nicknames while others are not.

If someone wants do the puzzle on here (or can't use the link for whatever reason) just tell me and I'll copypaste it manually here with a convinient place to put all the answers in!

And finally...

5. Don't take this seriously. Hints were chosen based on clarity and humor, insults should not be taken personally.

Happy solving I guess then! (Don't feel pressured, only do this if you want to is basically what I'm saying! Though to make this interesting...I may decide to give a "reward" to the first person to solve this fully! :O It depends how it goes, since copying each other's answers would be kind of easy I'd imagine...)

I think some of the hints I accidentally made too obscure, even just a small rewording of some of them would go a long way, which I'd be willing to do. (11 Down especially! Though if you managed to get that one somehow, then yeah, I'd be pretty impressed!)

Also there's only 48 answers, so you having 42 yet missing 9 doesn't really add up. A miscount might have happened somewhere...

I got one wrong and had to redo some. So the count went down

I'm not even sure I've gotten all the others right

Aside from the really obscure hints, there seems to be a pattern in the ones you missed. A few of the hints are sound in their logic but are meta...take that as you will, you seem to keep track of everyone on the site pretty well otherwise.

I'd imagine the only reason you got 45 Across is due to Enter's name fitting the word count for example, not cause of the hint. (I'll also guess that for 12 Across)

I'm surprised you got 31 Down! (then again the hint might be more well known that I initially thought)

Hints I would have changed with hindsight:

11 Down: Commonly referred to the female replacement of a penis despite a better alternative existing. (This might not seem like much but it should be enough for the click to happen. Also this answer is a storygame!!!)

39 Across: The chad version of milk (This answer deserves a better hint but I'll leave you with that to not overcomplicate things)

Bonus Hints to try and help you (or anyone else):

25 Down: There's a reason I put both "fag" and "faggot" in the hint. Its like an extension. A literal extension of those word(s). A description of what makes a faggot a faggot as opposed to a description of a person. (End uses this word sometimes)

28 Across: Ok so maybe saying they get shit on constantly is a bit of an exaggeration. It definitely happened a lot 3 years ago though, and they almost always have their L wingness pointed out in some way when being made fun of. Also its plural, so you can put an "S" at the end. (End also uses this word sometimes)

29 Across: Its related to 40 Across (fag) and 25 Down. (I probably should have related the hint to Cys lore better, do tell me the L wing/R wing thing wasn't confusing! :O)

22 Down: Remember that member names can be shortened to nicknames...even if said nickname doesn't get used often...if that doesn't help then I'd just have to spoil the answer all together...

1 Down: He makes drunk posts every once in a while. Also loves cosmic horror, as evident in one of his storygames. The original hint was a reference to a short story he wrote prior to Prompt Contest 3.

3 Down: Like 1 Down this is another meta reference. Surprised you didn't get this one considering you already have the M and A given to you. He doesn't get trashed on constantly but he does get made fun of a decent amount, hence the Endmaster quote. His grammar is also not the best and some of his posts can be kind of long unnecessarily.

35 Across: Wheelchair! If you don't get this one I'm actually going to be disappointed in you! Was a running joke some time ago if I remember correctly.

P.S. The fact you got 7 Down on your own but couldn't get 3 Down or 28 Across signifies to me that you don't pay enough attention to things that Endmaster has said. *insert bad daughter joke here*

What threads were you viewing during the Prompt Contest 3 and The Crisis Contest? That seems to be when the Ellipses person was most active. Would be able to give a better hint knowing this info I think. (You still might not recognize them but its worth a shot I guess)

Is the Thara hint a deepcut reference that goes deeper than I realized? Like is there more to it or something? I literally just pulled that from a random reply she gave me a couple of months back and assumed very few people would guess that one on the hint alone!

No, I was sitting on a stove in the other pfp. I stand on two legs just fine. The jokes were aimed at Cel; same time, different people. I actually was suspicious is was me because my user fit and it sounded like something I would say, but no wheelchair.

My mind must have saw the picture, remembered the Cel wheelchair jokes, then forgot exactly what your old pfp looked like (I never got a good look at it) and then when trying to reconstruct the memory thought it might have been a wheelchair cause "that would make sense".

I mean that's exactly what I thought it was (minus the logic you took to assume Ellipses person was a girl) so your good there. I could have worded what I said better but felt self conscious about labeling myself as "Ellipses person" again when that label was no longer needed.

As for Dire, he was here before I arrived here, but given that his first completed story game (unless he deleted one before) was during Prompt Contest 3, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to assume he started becoming more active when you weren't checking the forums much.

I never interacted with her either. I'd heard of you and read a couple posts, but nothing specifically linking you to ellipses. Raven I saw a few remnants of conversation from and read about in THE TRUTH; her hint calling her a bird bitch made it not too much of a jump.

With the help of your hints, I would have finished the crosswords without looking at the answer were it not for your misspelling of Suranna's name.

Also, for some reason I can't remember when I ever mentioned liking purple. If anything, based on the color schemes I use, I'd have thought people would think red is my favourite color. But this was a fun time waster.

The spelling doesn't matter in this case either. Only the S, first R, and A interact with anything and my misspelling was still 7 letters long. Cel's name was the only spelling error that threw the whole puzzle off.

The you liking purple thing was a meta joke referencing that you used to use purple prose (might not of been the best idea since you mentioned since then your prose is more beige, maybe its a mix now, idk for sure tho...)

True, though I'm just annoyed at myself for wasting time double-checking the spelling of everything since the timer kept ticking down, indicating that I must have gotten something wrong.
 
Oh I see, the purple part was a pun. I honestly started to wonder if I did say something about it since I quite like purple too.

The Weekly Review was Will's first before passing through various other hands, it's been a long long time since it was anything close to "weekly" or even in spitting distance of "monthly", it'd be a twice a year joke at best, released purely by whim.
