Player Comments on Dangerous Memories

As far as storygames go, it's pretty linear, but the story itself more than makes up for a lack of branching choices. In fact, I don't think that's the type of game Dangerous Memories was set out to be, which is perfectly fine. I was immersed in the story all the way through, even in the beginning when I was trying to catch on what was going on. This was one of the better uses of long-term amnesia I've seen. The way the story unfolded little-by-little made it all the more exciting without talking down to the reader. Even the streamlined style of writing was to the story's benefit, keeping a pace that kept the excitement and tension high.

I can easily say reading Dangerous Memories was one of the most enjoyable things I've done on the Storygames portion on the site.

I loved it! Of all the mystery stories I've read on the site so far, I'd say this is definitely the one with the most mystery. I really liked that you started off not knowing anything and had to figure out for yourself who to trust and who not to. It's a shame, 'cos I'd like to see a sequel, but since the guy's already got his memory back, that wouldn't really work. Great game! ^_^

Wow, great story. Well written, and I love the unreliable narrator style of Memento and The Paradox Factor that you pulled off in this story. Very well done.

i liked it but i got the bad anding

This was very confusing and weird but kept me entertained and interested to know more about what will happen.

Amazing story! Great action and adventure, very good idea of waking up not remembering who you are etc, very original. Great characters, good length of story before a choice, sometimes a bit long. Excellent vocabulary.

Okay, I loved this a lot! The mystery with Adonica, the bull, and everyone else was a fun one. The narrator with amnesia is also enjoyable in itself. The story is fairly linear, with a couple of bad ends sprinkled in here and there.

I really enjoyed playing this. It was very mysterious, and the amnesia from the beginning meant that neither the player nor the main character knew anything that the other didn't. However, I loved how you left just enough clues to begin to piece together what was going on early game.
The main (and basically only) issue I have with the game is that if Adonica is killed, and you visit her and see her body, the game later still comments "what they might have done" to her, even though the main character has already seen her dead.
Other than that, really well-made game.

This was an interesting story, not like many that I've seen before. It was a little too linear for me, but content made up for it. I also didn't like the way information was brought on, with random pieces of information being remembered as the story develops, but I think there could be a better way to smooth that out. Overall, good story!

I think this was one of the first games I played when I found this site. It's probably still one of my favorites. Great story, though I wished it was more detailed.

I don't like how it would have a long sentence in the titles and then repeat in the storyline.

This game is good I would recommend it and this should be a James Bond plot

very good story, the lack of endings i guess is sad, but it was very fun. i liked some of the deaths, and made me laugh a bit, i have no idea why. i like it and the story makes up for the endings, truly great. all throughout i didnt know if i was good or bad, and thats why its so good.

The story started off pretty well, only to end abruptly and weirdly. The story seemed rushed and frankly, there weren't many real choices either. I liked the writing style though. Have to say you maintained a solid grip on me. All in all a decent read

Really good! I new in only about 30 seconds that he was in a car. It took me a while to realize that the cloth was actually a seat belt. It was a very good story! I hope you make more stories in the future!

This story is very intense in such a way that I feel like I must keep playing until I have discovered the whole story. It's really well written and very interesting. I can't waid to read more of this author's work :)

That was pretty darn sweet, with the amnesia and stuff... I think whoever made this is a very good author. I also think you should use items with your story.

nice story, I loved the action and mystery part of the tale. this should get five stars.

6/8 nice story would have given higher score but there really was no reason to really like the characters. I just like feeling connected to the character i am playing and a bit more of a story in between all the scenes would have made it perfect. Overall great job

I liked it. It was interesting, had good grammar and was well written. A decent length and a nice plot line. All I can say is that I wish you could add more detail with the slow recollection of memories. It was more, "you regains. Little bit of your memories, but they are useless ones." Then "you regain all your memories of this one person" then at the end suddenly you regain everything just by looking at one person. Maybe you should have tried to lengthen that aspect to a bit more. Other than that, great story and good work.

This is an almost-perfect example of what I love in mystery - straightforward yet detailed explanations and a short yet developed storyline. Definitely a must-try!

Wow! This was an awesome story! Linear but awesome. However it would have been nice if it was more harder for it was eventually cleary what to choose to survive. I was a bit disappointed in the end since the story ended so quickly, however since the choices were meaningful and the setting was amazing, I give you a whooping 7. Thanks for such an awesome work! Fun in the "I have no idea what I'm doing" kind of way. Very interesting though.

I liked it, I think your narration was splendid, but I must admit to finding one fault... "you can't outrun a bullet" ... actually, running (in a zigzag pattern) is one of your best options. It's very difficult to hit a moving target, and even if you do, it rarely hits a vital organ.

Really love amnesia espionage story. Hope that you make another one like this. People said that amnesia story is cheap and overused. I tell that they are wrong. Amnesia story is like sex, you'd never have enough as long as it is great. Thank you for the great work.

This story was absolutely great! Although, I found it to be a bit short, I really liked it! Maybe you could make a possible sequel?! By the way, I earned a 45.
Are there any different paths you can take to get the same or a better ending?

The ending was sort of fast and easy--it all fell into place very, very quickly on the last page. I think you could have easily dragged it out longer. But, all in all, it was a fun play. :)

Really good story, wish there was a bit more reader involvement or decision making, but all in all it was a very vivid piece and would love to see another.

Fun read

I noticed when I was going down every alternate path that you re-used a page when you probably shouldn't have.

If I tell the policeman the woman's name, and then go inside her shop, I am then forced to follow the policeman. When I go to follow him, it tells me that since I know where the woman's shop is, I "can always come back and talk to her later."

Having already seen the inside of the shop, I somehow doubt the main character would be planning to doing that.

Not bad, though the passport part sounded a bit like the bourne identity.

Excellent. Sometimes the amnesia thing seems overused, but you did it well here and it works. The reveal does seem a little sudden, but all in all--great work.

Fantastic story telling! It was exciting and really fun, I have to give a 7/8. Will there be a second one I would love to read it. It had me wondering just who my dude was, so many false things going on I was getting confused but then at the end it all made sence.

Another excellent story. Not only is your writing extremely good (at times you mess up a tense but it's barely noticeable), you are an amazing storyteller. That was exciting. I'd like more choices, however. I appreciate that it's harder to drive the story forward that way, but still nice to have.

This is a very good game! I very much like the way you write and though, yes I have to agree with Nate, your choices were simple. But, I like simple games with writing, I like reading them. Plus, you have excellent writing skills, so this game definitely deserves a 6. Please continue making more games!
