Player Comments on Ducky Park

Structurally speaking, "Ducky Park" could be held up as a model storygame: A main character is efficiently outlined and a problem is posed on the first couple pages; meaningful and interesting choices are presented, with some commentary on why the main character finds each option appealing (or not appealing, as the case may be); different scenarios are revealed as a result of those choices; character traits are revealed through interesting dialog; and each story path is laid out through to its own logical conclusion.

I can't say that I found the story as absurdly humorous as I hoped it would be, but I went into to "Ducky Park" knowing there was no right outcome, therefore it was fun to make all the wrong choices and see what happens. Of the branches I've read so far, drinking beer dressed as Dastardly Dog may have been the most fun. I've saved this story so that I can come back and read more of the branches when I'm in the mood for some light reading.

On the other hand, I wished there was an "edit punctuation, spelling, and capitalization" feature that allowed me to satisfy my perfectionist tendencies. The author possessed several misconceptions about the English language that were repeated over and over and over and over again, making it obvious he thought this was really the way it was supposed to work--perhaps a trait that could traced back to some failure of a public school teacher.

And one final note: despite the admirably amount of branching (each branch about equal in length) too many of the stories ended the same way: security firing you from your job (can a security guard do that?), and your father lashing you with his belt for being an idiot. This repetitiveness was a letdown.

Duck Park provided me with an hour of laughs over my lunch break. So thank you for that. The way it is set up, there are not an abundance of choices, but each leads you to a different path entirely. The story is broad rather than deep. The plot is simple. Despite the shortness of the branches, there managed to be several memorable characters--my favorite of which being the redneck overseer of the rides.
Ducky Park is no great epic, but it ranks among the best pure comedies I have had the pleasure of reading on this fine site.

One of the two stories DEP copied over from Infinite Story and while Reunion got featured, I feel that Ducky Park is a better story overall and underrated.

The plot is simple. It tells the tale of a hapless retard getting a job in an amusement park. Hilarity ensues.

Well hilarity ensued for me at least. You’re either going to like the humor in the story or you won’t. Since the story’s main draw is humor, its success is dependent on it and since humor varies from person to person, that might be why it has a middle of the road rating overall.

It isn’t a long story, but it does have a good amount amount of branching all of which lead to amusing ways the protagonist can fail spectacularly. The writing of course is good as is to be expected from DEP.

I know DEP said he was supposed to expand the story at some point. Some of the added stuff would have included a few extra choices like some more mascot costumes to wear, a Halloween focused branch and a branch dealing with the little kid section of the park. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll see these additions.

Anyway, I liked it a lot.

I read through the cringiest sex scene and the worst pick up lines. This felt like a clear author insert.

Pretty decent in my opinion.

Definitely a very humorous game, and I laughed multiple times while reading the very funny and creative writing. Although, at some points the sense of humor seemed to get old. Perhaps it went a bit over the top, and just seemed like really lolrandom humor.

The writing is definitely pretty good, and the characters seemed well developed (at least most of them anyways.) But the sense of humor just seemed repetitive to me, and overall that made for a downfall in the writing quality.

While the humor didn't appeal to me as much as was probably intended the choices are meaningful to the storygame, and there's a fair amount of branching here, so well done on that note.

You did do a very good job of fleshing out a plot and setting, and the characters were mostly well developed, as i've said. The details provided about the characters and their personalities definitely gave them a realistic feeling and relatable characteristics, which is always nice to see in a storygame.

4/8, lots of room for improvement but this was pretty good.

Well, I would like a bit more choice, even if the choices were a bit wacky and random. I'd enjoy that, but suddenly I get the impulse to touch a girl while working a lemonade stand??? It seems more chance than anything.

This storygame was pretty funny, all things considered. The writing had some typos but they weren't abundant and I found myself enjoying the humor that's in this game.

Ducky Park doesn't seem like a place that I'd personally work at but it's entertaining from the perspective of a outsider looking in xD

This game is underrated but actually really good. It might not be a long epic adventure with a great plot or have clever game mechanics, but it is a quick entertaining read and hilarious. It reminds me of some of EndMaster's less popular stories, especially Trash. 7/8

its cool .. cant say anything but it is a story book .. i played it my way and ended up being taken away :( sad .. i wish you made the story a bit more eventful and that ill hve more options to make if i ever made a stupid mistake .. but .. hell the guy is stupid .. xD

Loon, if you haven't already done so; read some other branches. There's at least one where you get to do far more than just touch bewbs. lol.

This game is a work of art. 8/8. My only complaint is that I couldn't touch her boobs.

Quite funny

I gave it a five for the amazing amount of options, the non linearity of the story, and it was generally fun to play. I knocked off three points because of the useless cursing in certain places, and the weird stuff that happened when I had no control of it.

Overall, not a bad game that I will play again and again just to see where all the choices lead.

wow... there really is NO happy ending to this story. the best I get is a lawsuit against the park! Still, very entertaining. Wish I had more choice at times (Ricky made some pretty stupid mistakes...) but it's still enjoyable.

Hmmm. It says difficulty 1 - no possible way to lose, but I believe death is a form of losing, lol! Not bad though, I like the fact you wrote a lot, and were very descriptive (instead of some people who just throw on a single sentence or so on their pages.)
