Player Comments on The Quest for Pegasus

This is not a story game. It is completely linear. The writer made no effort to conceal this, as nearly every page has two links. One leads to a restart link, or is an actual restart link placed there for no apparently good reason, and the other progresses the classic Myth along its time honored rails.

The only exception is your being allowed to be a little tempted at one point, or object totally. Either way, it makes no difference- but if the wrong choices there hadn't outright ended the story, well, more on that later.

What this is, is a "slightly" interactive summary of the myth. It is very well executed in terms of writer's voice, grammar, punctuation, accuracy etc. It accomplishes its simple aim of telling the story. Small ambitions, modest achievement.

Two or three alternate endings in addition to a "True Legend" ending would have launched this game to a completely different level, well probably from a 4 to a 5 or 6 from me. So for example: (Spoilers ahead)

In He is seduced but the secret is kept and we have a few pages and choices with some solid drama, maybe overthrowing the king or wild escapades trying to keep the affair a secret.

Or perhaps another where he opens the letter. Then he quite wisely flees the area and gets wrapped up in something outlandish while on the run. Etc.

It would have added tremendously to the story, but would likely add no further educational value, unless the author also took the time to interject bits of culture into the events, or worked them into the narrative.

I liked that we had an epilogue. That was a nice touch.

Basically a linear story with links to reset the game.

A big draw back is that the game is so linear that it's practically just a short story. Pretty much every decision either continues the main story or goes, "Oops, you fucked up. Now you're dead."

Still, you get bonus points strictly because I'm a sucker for Greek Myths. ^_^

I can tell you tried, but the problem with this is that as long as you know how the legend goes, it is not hard at all.

The choices were quite obvious, and so was the story. Overall, it was a good story, but improvements can be made.

Nice! Very true and even has some not so common knowledge about Athena and Pegasus(Sorry peeps I'm not gonna spoil that knowledge. You gotta read it yourselves.) Very good read but it is a bit short, and does not have any alternative paths but it works because, this is a mythology based story.

It's definitely a work of art. You had to know some Greek mythology to write this. Very fun and entertaining. I highly recommend playing!

This game is pretty great, just that you knew to do everything correctly to win so it's boring... If you elaborated the story a little more, like all of Bellerophon's adventures until his death, that would be perfect.

This game is a lot of fun, but I don't feel like it's entirely Choose Your Adventure. More often than not, you could continue with the story or simply start over, which means no real choice. There aren't branches that you can follow and explore, it's just, you chose wrong, back to start.
Nevertheless, I admire the creativity and the knowledge of the subject. The writing is not too bad and appropriate and flowing images always add points.

It was great and I love Greek Mythology!

This is great but it is way to much like the legend of Bellerophon. I knew all the right choices and that is kind of boring, less of a twist. But it was great never less.

This game was interesting and well written, but definitely very linear and predictable. However, I guess this is to be expected in which retell a story like this. Definitely more fun that just reading the story of Pegasus itself and it taught me the story as well. Have a go at it if you got a test on mythology or something, or just have nothing to do.

This is great! I know of course its obviously in the greek myths, but you added more detail. Its just that I just dont like the part Bellephoron (lets call him Bell) was thrown off Pegasus. Still, why wouldnt the gods let Bell visit them on Mt. Olympus?

i'm a sucker for Greek myth... it's quite short and it doesn't really have lots of options, so decision-making isn't really that hard.

I am fond of greek myth. This was not... overly exciting as the -only- way to get anywhere is to follow the preconceived path, but it was made well, nonetheless.

Nice, I love myths! What a shame Bellerophon had to succumb to his hubris in the end. The only downside of this story is that the path to victory is too obvious and predictable. Try to give us some harder choices!
