Debate: Dubstep or Country?

Two very different types of music, I know.

I was looking through a social media website when I saw two people fighting. One person was a country supporter who was flaming on dubstep. The other was a dubstep supporter who was mocking country. This got me thinking...

What do you guys think? Which is superior; dubstep or country?

I hate country music. Ironic, because I live in Georgia and I'm the only one in the family that would rather listen to Drop the Bass than Cruise.

I dislike country, as well.

Maybe it's because I spent a lot of time in my teen years listening to dubstep. Whenever I hear country, I beg for it to stop because it just doesn't feel right.

Same here.

It might be because I used to live in Utah, and EVERYONE hated country music. Don't know why, but I came to dislike it as well.

I'm not allowed to listen to dubstep in the car because my dad says it "ruins your brain and makes it turn into mush." I don't buy it.

I listened to dubstep all the time in Utah, and look at me now. I have gifted English, Science, and Math. Too bad I can't have more than three gifted classes... My social studies teacher is so... What's the word?

My social studies teacher is an idiot. Luckily for me, I only have a few months until I can get advanced classes other than math

That's the word I was looking for.

Get science. Science is love, science is life.

Debate: Dubstep or Country?

Yeah, I already got my courses, I'm in all the advanced classes that are possible in my year.

Your father clearly doesn't understand how "brains" work.

I hate both, but I hate country more, because I've seen dubstep elements introduced in pop and electronic songs, and I felt it added to the song. An example off the top of my head, is Sylvan Esso - Hey Mami, which starts off as a normal electro-pop song, and introduces dubstep in the second half (at least I THINK it's dubstep; correct me if I'm wrong).

Pure dubstep songs, though, just isn't my thing.

Country is just, ugh, so bad.

Debate: Dubstep or Country?

I actually despise both of them, but dubstep is the lesser of two evils.

I listened to country music when I was in high school (I was the only one that did, until my senior year when about half a dozen girls decided that it was a way to get closer to me).  I don't listen to much anymore, but I can't stand rattling speakers and electronic noise.  Is there a third option?  Maybe nails on a blackboard or something?

Debate: Dubstep or Country?

I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than country music.

I prefer silence, myself.  My thoughts are interesting enough for me.

Debate: Dubstep or Country?

Whenever it is silent in a room, I can't seem to focus on one thing. I'm thinking about CYS one minute, then Pokemon the next, then Mario, then Kirby...

It's just an endless thought train.

I was brought up in a hectic household with many siblings.  I used to go for long walks, sometimes lasting the entire weekend.  It was a relief to get away from all the nervous jabber and raucous behavior.

I had the same problem when I was younger (you tend to gain more focus with maturity).  You weed out the unnecessary things and contemplate the important ones.  It's all about prioritization.

Debate: Dubstep or Country?

I'd argue that a lot of today's country music sounds more like pop music just with a southern drawl rather than proper country music.

Dubstep reminds me of a variation of Techno and I hated that too.

Debate: Dubstep or Country?

It's a cryin' shame that the two were ever brought together.  There was some good pop and some good country, but I've yet to find even one of the mixed that isn't just irritating.

Can't agree with you more on that.

Red Solo Cup is the only one I can think of that isn't entirely awful.

Old country was whiny bullshit, new country is trying too had to imitate better genres, because you can hardly sing anything else with that accent without sounding stupid. The only country I really like was the country music they made before country music existed, which was folk music, and not really country at all. Dubstep is vaguely tolerable, when it's remixing other songs and trying not to be dubstep, which is ironically the same thing I hate country for, which I gues just means that country sucks more than dubstep.

Don't really have great things to say about either of them, but I guess Dubstep is more tolerable. Right down there on the hardly-tolerable-level with Let It Go Meets Metal, directly above such horrendous non-tolerable songs such as Baby and Annie's Tomorrow as sung by Axel Rose.

Debate: Dubstep or Country?

I used to be able to tolerate country. Now, I can't stand it. When I was a kid, it was a distinct musical genre manifested by several talented artists with deep, lilting voices and decent guitar skills. Now, it is pop with a few references to beer and tractors. The other day, I heard a song called "Take it on back" and I kindly asked for someone in the room to take that song "on back" and shoot it in the fucking head.

Dubstep, as I believe I have said before, sounds like a helicopter banging a fax machine.

Sadly, though, I would have to say that I would rather listen to dubstep than to country.

Fuck the both of them; I like classic rock.

I love some of these definitions XD

I don't mind either, so long as it isn't ear raep or boring as all-time fuck. Not my preferred genres, though.

I don't like country music so I'll go with dub-step by default.

DUBSTEP!!!!

1. Dubsteps guns, so yeah.

2. Have you seen the moves of those people?! They're awesome.

3. It's just cool.

You got the first because of my personal weapon? *fiddles with dubstep gun*

Didn't know that Country was a music-genre commonly hated. Personally really like pretty much all of the Highwaymen' work. Plus, Nelson's dishing out his own brand of weed which is totally rad.

Dubstep hurts my head.

"Dubstep hurts my head. soul."

I think they both suck.

If I had to pick, then Dubstep would be the one I hate more.

I'm clueless about the music in music. I tend to appreciate lyrics more than anything else.

Dubstep is usually lower in that department than Country music.

Yeah, I appreciate a story being told with the music, whatever the genre.

Country, all the way. Dubstep sounds like a dial up going on a date with a blender.angry

Country is ok, I guess. I agree with IAP on dubstep: not very good on its own but can work as part of an electropop song, though often it could do without it.
