I've been doing some... other things lately, notably obsessively reading Dumbing of Age (dang it, Morgan_R) and binging TvTropes (for some reason), but mainly making my new webcomic, Honestly Confused. Shameless advertising FTW

It helps that I recently got this Wacom drawing tablet thingamajig, but I won't shamelessly advertise it because you can read all the hype on your own. :)

Anyway, I was wondering what you guys think of webcomics, which ones are your favorite, and all that. I'm curious to see what other people think, especially because my webcomic interests have fluctuated magnificently over the years, so I thought it'd be cool to see your guys' experiences.

In case you wanna check it out, here's a link to Honestly Confused: http://honestlyconfused.webcomic.ws

I like webcomics, though I don't really read them much. I just can't find the time for it.

It's hard for me to find something online that I like, but my relative just introduced me to Ava's Demon. I am completely enjoying it. Finished it the day she showed me ^-^

Love the drawing style.

Holy Shit thank you. I love this art.

I really like 1/0. Like Homestuck, it starts out with silliness and gets really deep and involved throughout the story. Unlike Homestuck, it's funny and interesting all the way through. Manly Guys doing Manly Things is also a good one, but it's more of a 'fun' comic than a plot comic. That's not to say it doesn't have a plot, it's just that the plot isn't as focussed on as it is in... Well, literally any other Webcomic I've seen.

Webcomics and Stuff

Oh I like mgdmt. Rainbots XD

Webcomics and Stuff

Manly Guys is the greatest thing. I still have my CP background as the immensley manly "Jared Riding a Gyrados with the Commander's kids in sparkly pink". So great. :D

Webcomics and Stuff

Ozy and Millie was the first webcomic I really enjoyed. Found out about it through the gateway drug known as TV Tropes.

Webcomics and Stuff

About the only one I periodically browse is Oglaf.

Webcomics and Stuff

Oh god...

Webcomics and Stuff

Lol.

Someone on another forum kept posting random sections of Oglaf in threads, and I wondered where it originated from.

After locating the comic, I started reading from beginning and found it amusing enough to read the rest of it.

Because I know Tan gets a kick out of laughing at the silliness of white supremacist rhetoric, I'd recommend that he (or anyone else) go read "Billy the Heretic".

It's all about some adopted white "racially aware" kid and his Jewish parents who are part of some Zionist conspiracy. The other bit about this comic is apparently "Billy" is supposed to be partially based on the cartoonist himself.

Webcomics and Stuff

I found Oglaf through the xkcd creator's recommendations, read through it, was thoroughly scarred, and never looked at it again. :)

Webcomics and Stuff

You know, this makes me appreciate the Stormfronters. Besides them being very confused as to whether a) the Holocaust was a great thing, b) the holocaust never happened, or c) 'A' and 'B'; at least they're actually an extremely 'nice' and civil bunch. This is just so mean-spirited, it's much more on the 'VNN' side of things hahaha.

That said, my love for you grows, man. Hilarious.

Webcomics and Stuff

oglaf is a good one too. Totally nsfw.

Sithrak is great.

Webcomics and Stuff

I like webcomics, but I don't keep up with most of them because I occasionally forget they exist, the one I linked to in that same thread you mentioned is the only one I read on a regular basis.

Webcomics and Stuff

Big fan of Order of the Stick and XKCD.

Webcomics and Stuff

I second these recommendations. Both very solid web comics.

I once kept up with Sequential Art and recently dived into Goblins.

Webcomics and Stuff

In no particular order, and not bothering to link because you all know how to operate a search engine:

Gunnerkrigg Court

Girl Genius

Dumbing of Age

Dinosaur Comics

XKCD

I read more, but those are the ones I'm most inclined to recommend.

Webcomics and Stuff

Holy Fark, Dumbing of Age is creepy. Didn't encounter/bother to look at any NSFW bits, but all the characters look like children. A little disconcerting. >_<

Webcomics and Stuff

All the NSFW stuff is behind a paywall. I wouldn't recommend it here otherwise.

They just look like cartoon characters to me? I mean, I'm not interested in NSFW content in that style. But the strip itself doesn't seem weird to me.

Sorry to link you to something you found creepy, though. :/

Webcomics and Stuff

No need to apologize - different strokes for different folks, right?

I was just.. put off slightly, considering as the character's from the first panel reminded me of prepubescent little girls.

Just out of curiosity, how explicit does it get? XD

Webcomics and Stuff

*goes to the first strip*

...okay, I see where you're coming from. His style has changed over time, particularly with regards to head/body proportion.    Which is a major cue for how people perceive age.

If you're asking about the NSFW stuff: Haven't read it, wouldn't know. XD

Webcomics and Stuff

Well, I'm not looking at any NSFW stuff, mainly because it'd be both creepy and illegal, but from what I've gathered from comments:

You need a $25 Slipshine membership to view the comic. Worth it? Doubt it.

It's basically porn.

Apparently, it's really awkward to read. Kinda expected that.

Webcomics and Stuff

25 bucks for porn? When google is a free service for everyone? For shame!

Webcomics and Stuff

You... you realize that there probably hasn't been a single minor in history charged with watching porn, right? Not encouraging you to watch it - it's fucked up horrible, but still.

Webcomics and Stuff

I was saying it'd be illegal for me to view it (a) since I'm a minor and (b) I'd be viewing it without paying 25 dollars.

Webcomics and Stuff

I think it's illegal to distribute pornography to a minor...?

Either way, I don't think a single minor in history has been charged with viewing it.  It would be

  • a waste of court time
  • a waste of public funds

to prosecute horny teenagers.

Webcomics and Stuff

That seems about right. Time to go watch some porn! Yaaaaaa okay no.

Webcomics and Stuff

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. It's one of those things that warps one's perception of the world.

Webcomics and Stuff

It's true, nobody ever pays for the pizza or fixes the cable in those things. Complete irresponsible examples of perfectly respectable fields of employment.

Webcomics and Stuff

I was more referring to this sort of thing.

But yes, pizza guys and cable repairmen really get screwed over by it.

Webcomics and Stuff

... I tried looking for that one scene about the porno in the Big Lebowski... NEVER google 'Big Lebowski porn'... *Shudder*

Webcomics and Stuff

Very explicit. I bypassed the paywall because the internet is free. Not detailed, still comic-art, not as explicit has average hentai - but explicit still. 6/10 - got hard, nothing else. not worth it

Webcomics and Stuff

You got me insanely hooked on Dumbing of Age for some reason. :\

Webcomics and Stuff

Sorry? XD

On the plus side, it updates daily & has a huge buffer. Definitely the most reliably-updated webcomic I follow.

Webcomics and Stuff

No need to apologize :) I do appreciate the regularity as well. From Dumbing of Age, I've also discovered and archive-binged Shortpacked! I recommend it.

Webcomics and Stuff

JL8 is pretty GR8.

Webcomics and Stuff

Order of the Stick - http://www.giantitp.com/

Broodhollow - http://broodhollow.chainsawsuit.com/

And Homestuck just out of habit.

I've been told Gunnerkrig Court (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/) is pretty great but haven't had time to give it a serious look yet.

Webcomics and Stuff

Gunnerkrigg Court is pretty great. ^_^

OotS is on my used-to-read list. I really liked it for a while... just wasn't that invested when it started to be more dramatic and less funny. Same thing that happened with Sluggy Freelance, really.

Webcomics and Stuff

Oh yeah, gunnerkrig court is fantastic.

My problem with webcomics is I hate reading one / week.  I'd rather wait till its done & read the whole thing at once.

Webcomics and Stuff

Ahem: Let my magnificent list of webcomics shine down on you all.

Order of the Stick

Goblins

Will Save World for Gold

Schlock Mercenary

Manly Guys doing Manly things

Sequential Art

XKCD (Also of note is the What If Section)

Darth & Droids

Sorcery 101

Existential Comics

WildWestSciFi

Let's Speak English

Cyanide and Happiness (Haven't finished this one at all, a few thousand behind)

Buttersafe (I intend to go through it one day)

Webcomics and Stuff

Cyanide and Happiness 4 lyfe.

Webcomics and Stuff

Ha ha, I remember when I introduced you to Oots. XD

You know those comics I sent had absolutely no meaning, right?

Webcomics and Stuff

Yes, I know now, but i'm telling you they correlated perfectly with the exploding poison assassin Galo sent to kill me.

Webcomics and Stuff

XD I was just trying to mess with you. Crazy.

What happened with that exploding poison guy?

Webcomics and Stuff

I think his name explains what happened to him pretty well XD

Webcomics and Stuff

What's that web comic that everyone hates because the cartoonist always draws a bunch of girls getting graphically raped and killed?

They said the artwork and storyline isn't even terrible, but the cartoonist is just sick or something so he gets a lot more heat than he would if he was just another shitty web cartoonist.

Webcomics and Stuff

All I know is that there was one webcomic where a guy had a counter for every main(?) character that got killed off, and at one point the main character's wife and child were killed not that many strips after she gave birth, and there was a big uproar and controversy about it even though the guy had been senselessly murdering his characters for years.

Webcomics and Stuff

I already found it through some website called "Bad web comics." It was called U.S. Angels Corp and it was apparently some guro based comic. Looks like the writing was shitty too and the artwork was considered the only vaguely redeeming feature, but it didn't look all that great to me.

The guy took down the comic due to too much hate mail I guess. Quitter.

Webcomics and Stuff

no romantically apocalyptic in the thread...no unsounded in the thread... ;_; why does everyone have shit taste except me??! That was a joke by the way, I know how opinions work.

Webcomics and Stuff

Oh right, unsounded is pretty great. That's another of the ones where I'm waiting a while.

Webcomics and Stuff

I know of one that I don't think has been mentioned yet, The Perry Bible Fellowship.

I sort of stumbled upon that one by accident when I was in a comic shop and I saw a big book collecting all of the comics. (Which I didn't know anything about at the time) Browsed through it and found it funny enough to purchase it.

I think there are still new ones made though infrequently.

Webcomics and Stuff

Most of what I read have already been put up but 'Pearls Before Swine' is probably one of my favorite humor strips. Besides that, uh, Chick tracts are always fun.

Also Existential Comics, though only a handful are really funny.

Webcomics and Stuff

I would have mentioned Chick tracts, but I figured those didn't count since they were created in regular print and then digitized for the web later.

Webcomics and Stuff

I'd recommend Todd Allison and the Petunia Violet ~ very hilarious, the artwork is great, and its just great haha

Any opinions on TwoKinds? The artwork looks alright, but I don't want to invest my time into it just yet.

If you can get around the furry worship, it's not a bad comic at all.
