Hello fellow writers. I have come to this place after hearing about it for some time from fresh_out_the_oven (an irl friend of mine). I must admit I've read nothing here yet, so please offer up recommendations.
I've been writing fiction for some time now, but have never been thrilled by choose-your-own stories, so I'm in unknown territory here. Please yell at me to write something because I want to, but I'm a pro procrastinator.
A few fun facts about myself...I'm a fan of fantasy (LotR, Mistborn, and Six of Crows notably). I like watching movies and TV shows (a big fan of sitcoms, though I'm currently watching Arcane). I like cats and have three. My current hyper-fixation is gardening. I'm half British, a girl, and my current picks for favorite music artists are Lana Del Rey, Hozier, and Cigarettes after Sex.

Here are some recommendations for stories I think you might enjoy:

Spell of Slumber(fantasy) - A classic fantasy CYOA that's a spinoff from the Sleeping Beauty story. You play as a spell singer who tries to avert the curse, making it less deadly, with interesting results! The prose is very poetic and it's a great work.

Sterling City(modern thriller) - This is pretty far from a refined and dignified fantasy story about spell singers, but it's a gritty urban CYOA playing as various characters who live in Sterling City. Sterling City is like New York, Detroit, and Chicago all rolled into one and the stories feature plenty of action and gritty violence.

Innkeeper(fantasy) - You play as a kid who wanted to go to medical school but his dad died after taking out a loan from an unsavory mob boss/loan shark, so he has to put his plans on hold until he can run the inn successfully to the point where he and his mom can pay back the loan shark/sell the inn. The story quickly goes in some crazy but entertaining directions.

Cyber Monkey and WarChimp(sci-fi) - You play as a cybernetically enhanced monkey in a dystopian cyberpunk setting! What more can I say.

Anyway, obligatory Eternal recommendation. You'll have to, uh, have a bit of an open mind. Also popular around here is Price of Freedom, and I personally think you'd like Mission Sunshine, Blackbirds, and Blood in the King's Court.

Blood in the king's court is a really good rec! Definetly a very interesting take on the vampire myth, and one that's really satisfying to read all the way through so you get all the endings.

Orange's stories are really cool that way; you don't really know everything until you read through a bunch of different paths, and you really, really want to know everything. I'm excited for her contest entry.

These people do not know what they're talking about. You absolutely should start with two of the very best of all time stories on the site: Boobs! and Mercer Gang.

Welcome, fellow procrastinator. I'd give you some recommendations, but maybe tomorrow.

...I think the others have got some good recommendations, already. If you want to do some searching for yourself, the top rated of each category is always home to good picks. Otherwise, you could go read some newly created stories and make the author's day with a review, or something.

Mizal, did you know Fresh doesn't have any depth perception? She's supposed to wear glasses, but I don't even think she owns a pair. One time we were eating cooked goat (delicious) at a friend's house and she tried to rest her head on my shoulder, but ended up crashing right into the corner of the chair-back. Bless her heart. She's a clumsy little bean. I took her for a walk in the woods on several occasions, and she always be tripping over rocks...or nothing. Just tripping for fun.

RK, did you know that born2die is very, very bad at tennis? Her brother, her, and I went to play tennis once and whoever we put her on the team of lost. I'm decently sure she didn't manage to even accidentally hit the ball at any time. :P

I may have the depth perception of a drunk cyclops, but I can hit a tennis ball!!

Oh, also--fun story--for an indefinite amount of time she was hopelessly attracted to my cousin. It was quite the saga I had to endure. There was poetry, and fangirling, and late night mental breakdowns. She may say she's not in love with him anymore, but she's come to admit that if she was hopelessly drunk and he proposed to her, she'd say yes. I'm not sure when this scenario would ever be happening (especially since he never liked her back) (oh well, so sad), but now you know, teehee.

He could like me. He only said he didn't like, twice. :D

You do have an amazing taste in both music and movies. I am a big fan of fantasy and zombie so i think i am in a perfect position to recommend you. Definitely and i mean DEFINITELY read "Eternal". it is one of those few cyoas that leaves you staring at the screen when you reach the epilogue... just perfection. apart from that you can read "price of freedom". If going beyond the website isnt a problem, the best is definitely "rogues choice" available on playstore for free by delight games. you can msg me if you want more recommendations. Also dayyum you reading cyoas while being kidnapped?! definitely the hardest cyoa lover lmfao

Why thank you; I like to hope my tastes are somewhat cool XD. I do want to read Eternal, it's just seven million years long and I don't prefer reading stories on a screen, but AT SOME POINT I will succeed. I'm currently reading LotR, Dune, and Jurassic Park, so I'm trying to limit my reading list on here. oop XD
And the hardest cayos lover in Fresh, who is the one holding me at gunpoint making me read stuff.
