I'm like so sleepy (it's 2:20 AM) , but I miss having friends 💔 I found out I might have BPD in the worst way possible and it only clicked until *after* I impulsively ended all my relationships after a bad friendship breakup.
So...
Anyone native American/aboriginal Canadian here that want to chat? I would love to yap about my ocs with you. Especially the ones from the Rez lol

Well you see, normally you discuss shared interests and values and things with people in a normal way over a period of time, until you both realize you like hanging out with each other and have at least some amount of emotional investment in each other's well being. Bursting into a room going "Can I has friends??" just gets you weird looks.

But hey, I hear there's this cartoon about ponies that's good for people with your condition...

That is an extremely specific type of friend to want, I think you would have better luck getting back in touch with anybody you knew before this who met that criteria, we don't have very many Native American users.

We have some Mexicans, but they're kinda like the Bosmer of Native Americans. Lore just as crazy as the other Elves, but due to the engine limitations it's sometimes hard remember they're not just short Imperials.

Friends?

That's unfortunate! Usually, there are at least one or two natives hanging around, but oh well. T-T Thanks for the suggestion, though; I'll think about it!

Ngl, the fact you're looking for a specific ethnicity as a friend strikes me as odd. Why do they have to be native American or aboriginal? Makes it sounds like you're using this forum as a dating website 💀. Additionally, most people don't open up like:

"Hey-hi! I'm a purple-loving person who decided dropped all my friends on impulse and has emotionally-crippling BPD. Be my friend please, so I can tell you all about my OC characters (Only if your a particular race tho)! 🤗"

Alternatively, you could just tell me to suck a fuck and just keep friend-shopping for racial purity. I'm sure you'll find someone else and you two can make a really dope Native American inspired story.

LMAO this just made me giggle, but don't you think it's easier to make friends on common ground? I'm native if that helps, and there's no harm in simply wanting to chat with someone who's the same ethnicity as you. It's just the same as a poc person at school wanting to be friends with another poc because it's familiar to them :))

P.S you must have a rough social life if you see anyone looking to chat = wanting to date

Just out of curiosity, since I think you're trolling and looking for a reaction, who do you have more common ground with? The 1/8 Native boy who grew up on a reservation but is clearly and obvoiusly white (with just enough Native ancestry to legally live on the res), or the 100% indigenous person who was adopted shortly after birth by russians and grew up in Moscow?

wait wait so, the issue here you're taking with this suggestion, is that the rent-a-friend company is Japanese?

Friends?

Ahh yes, because clearly the problem is that I wasn’t excited enough about the brothel/fake friend fantasy. Not the fact that it was a completely gross suggestion in the first place and I was just turning it down politely. But what else am I supposed to expect from someone who forgot their comprehension skills?

Friends?

So the idea of having a Japanese friend is gross to you? Wow.

Friends?

I think you may have missed that this person was mocking you. My suspicion is that most people in this thread believe you to be morally inferior, that you are committing Hitler-esque microaggressions due to a sense of ethnic superiority, and that these character flaws—borne of extremist, low intellect CRT brainwashing in school—are a big part of why you are lonely (not necessarily my opinion, just my best guess about the general room temperature).

Again, I'm just voicing what I intuitively believe is the rough general consensus. Most people here do not believe who someone's ancestors are, what their first language is, and who they grew up with have any bearing on their worth as a person, and certainly not their suitability to be a friend, nor the ease of finding common ground with them.

Also, I'm sure a large portion is convinced you're making all this up to get a reaction.

Friends?

If they're not trolling, I just want to know how they thought this thread was going to go. The random "won't someone chat with me" threads always devolve into joking and shitposting immediately because there's no topic and literally nothing else to do with them.

The sudden flip to anger and dropping of insults felt out of place enough to be fake though, the random "ableism" accusation especially. I'm not actually sure if there's any real people who go around calling everything ableism, or if that's just another meme about blue haired tranny lesbians.

Asians and Native Americans have the same ancestry.

Are "aboriginals in the US or Canada" really the same ethnicity anyway, isn't that over 500 different cultures?

Not sure we want to unpack the reasons you excluded South and Central Americans from the list, we can leave that one for your therapist.

Friends?

oh, so you're stupid LMAO what's got you so heated you're nitpicking every comment to find something that's not even there?
Asians and Native Americans have similar ancestry, but they aren't the same. We have differing cultures and beliefs that have long been separated for over thousands of years.

2nd, wow, you used Google for once. shocking. Obviously, there are over 500 different groups but we're still from the same ancestors pre-colonial because the only *real* difference is that we have colonial terms dividing us "native americans vs aborignals of CA" different terms, but historically the same people with similar cultures/worldviews so yeah, we are the same ethinicty.

3rd. Because this wasn’t a continent-wide diversity census, it was a personal post asking if anyone from my culture wanted to talk about OCs. This isn’t Survivor: Global Indigenous Edition. You’re the only one turning it into a UN panel discussion. Maybe take it down a notch.

Friends?

You haven't even said what your tribe is. And what you're posting about "similar worldviews" is a generalization so broad it's useless at best. People spread across massive continents had wildly different cultures to the point the only things they really had in common were "lived on this half of the planet before people from the other half arrived." But since I actually don't believe someone with even passing interest in history would really be this way, you're getting a little transparent with the baiting at this point. Shocking. Wow!

At the basic level, there's no way an American Indian who grew up in that community, can only find other people of the correct ethnicity by wandering the internet and asking for replacement friends at random while going on about their mental illness. But the OP was actually fine, it's your responses that torpedoed this whatever it is you're attempting.

(inb4 they join the review contest and declare they'll beat everyone who wronged them and get them banned)

I think Mizal's point was that "the indigenous people of America and Canada" is such a broad definition for an ethnic group it's almost insultingly meaningless, just like Fluxion's points about "pocs" that you never responded to. I find "Asians" similarly stupid for what it's worth.

Okay, there's the polite part of the post out of the way. Because you misunderstood but then doubled down on "the same people" anyway, and I'm sorry but what. The Incans and the Iroquois are not "the same people with similar cultures" you vapid nincompoop. And no, I didn't "use Google for once" on any of those things. There are a lot of people in this community with a deep interest in history, you're the only one showing your ignorance.

What's weird is that you're actually the second fanfic loving wacko I've seen here willing to override and simplify the actual values and beliefs of real humans to make them fit your personal reality, and then lash out at other posters with this kind of arrogance. It's disrespectful and dishonest.

I'm not sure what you think CRT is, but judging by the associated buzzwords, if it's Critical Race Theory you think is something that is being or has ever been taught to K-12 children in the US, I'm afraid you've been unfortunately deceived by the pernicious hallucinations of the Murdoch Countries' collective dementia.

My own theory as to the cause of OP being a gremlin, based on repeated observations of people like this and the experience of having been a child on places all over the internet, is that this purple person is either not a native, or is not one in a very significant way. Without the tools to actually connect to or identify somebody that actually lives on "the rez", she's more just looking for someone to bounce her OCs and their associated ideas off of so that she can learn more about what the lifestyles and conditions of her imaginary characters might be like, from a more socially acceptable position than an outsider pestering somebody for details about their life and culture so that it can be incorporated into whatever they're writing about their OCs. Many such cases of this, the practice's been around since before the internet, when people had to do their polite and well-intentioned brownface by mail. The difference now of course is that it's easier for teenagers to do it, which I suspect the purple lady is based on self-diagnosis and typing accent, but maybe that demographic is just older now.

Your explanation makes sense though. A sneaky way to research, basically.

Anyway, I don't know if CRT is really taught in schools (colleges), but I think it's pretty clear it's taught on TikTok etc. FTR I don't necessarily resent it in and of itself, but I do resent people calling it a theory, because I feel that's an unearned level of rigor/substantiality.

EDIT: my issues with CRT are not related to whether or not it is an application or derivative of Marxism, or whatever buzz words the MAGAs like to use. They are similar to my issues with the Austrian school of economis (which rejects to a degree mathematical models and emperical evidence). I don't think CRT is rigorous enough, testable enough, and internally self-consistent enough. I'm sure someone will be offended by that, but this is 2025, we're all offended at this point. EDIT2: I didn't major in the social sciences so my opinion means little.

She probably is really young, (if she's real)
No one was even rude to her and she got so tilted so fast, I think I was the harshest by far and I only posted after she abandoned the thread.

I suspect that on whatever fanfic site she uses a thread like this gets a lot of positive attention with people thinking these things make her cool and special. Then that didn't happen here and she got upset and fled.

Should've stuck to the art threads, that still gets good attention and it's for doing something besides being born.

I also think it could be an issue of demographics, or at least I imagine fanfic writers as being individuals deathly allergic to grass and mostly white children from the US or UK. And here there are mostly adults and people who are Hispanics, Chinese and probably others, and Dutch? Real Indians too, from India or at least there used to be. Nobody is going oh no, the Trail of Tears, we feel so bad. T-T

Real Indian from real India here! Columbus was a twat.

Friends?

Columbus was a twat even by the standards of his contemporaries. Which really says something considering that those guys were mostly assholes too. He was arrested and shipped back to Spain for awhile for mismanagement and brutality against both Spanish settlers and the native population, but was later pardoned by the king unfortunately. I think that letter he wrote about the popularity and monetary value of 9 year old girls is pretty well known by now. (To the sister of one of his crewmen, just the most normal conversational topic ever in España.) I don't know how the narrative of that period is taught in schools anymore, or if they even do history at all now that they're not even teaching kids to read, maybe one of the zoomers here can speak to that. But I feel like I always see people speaking about the conquest of the Americas with huge generalizations that doesn't really acknowledge how complex things were politically. Bartolomé de Las Casas imo does not get enough recognition. He wrote A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies in the 1540s and also books prophecying the destruction of Spain by God's wrath over it all. He became an activist around 1515 and spent his life speaking out for the rights of the native populations, just a really good guy all around and it really goes to show that these kinds of dialogues did exist back then, even the Spaniards who were the closest to a devouring swarm the New World got were not just a hive mind on the subject. There were laws passed in the 1540s by the King/Emperor Charles largely thanks to Bartolome that tried to improve the rights of the natives and limit the serf system, although the colonists at that point resisted and circumvented it in a lot of ways, including straight up armed rebellion in Peru.

Not sure how much but I do have some Comanche blood. Don't think we can be friends though since we generally waged war on everyone around us, including other Indians. Even sold them as slaves if we weren't busy just flaying them alive and raping them.

(Not necessarily in that order)

Friends?

The Comanche killed a bunch of people around here! Woo! (The Great Raid of 1840.)

Really, a Comanche should only post seeking friendship with Mongols.

Although they really did themselves in by being TOO good at all the torture and slavery and rape, they went in early on and steamrolled the tribes that had been acting as a buffer between them and whitey. They managed to roll the frontier back for a bit after that though which was more than anyone else did.

Fun trivia is that they escaped their typical raids by having so many horses they could just ride them into the ground at full speed and it was no big deal, the posses following meanwhile had to keep the wellbeing of their own animals in mind and couldn't just keep riding for days straight without a break. According to some captive reports the raiders would just wait till one horse was ready to collapse, slit it open and sort of loosely wrap the intestines around their shoulders for an on the go snack, and hop to the next horse.

You know, exactly like every other native culture, they all had the same worldviews.

There were lots of German Texan kids kidnapped around here, The Captured by Scott Zesch is a fantastic book by the way that shares a lot of these stories. The author started by researching a family member and from there came across a lot of similar incidents. He's got a detailed retelling of the Legion Valley Massacre which is something I've legit wanted to do a storygame on before just for how badass Matilda Friend was.

The Comanche were really fucking interesting, but it's probably a good thing they're all dead; I can only imagine what they'd do to a fanfic writer with she/her pronouns smh.

Anyway, one of these days I'll do a DNA test or try to find out what my grandmother was exactly. Although I know Mexicans need not apply to this thread, her family came from somewhere around Chihuahua. (And probably ate a few too.)

Friends?

yesterday

People in ye olde times were unbelievably unsentimental about their animals. You can kind of see a remnant of that in Amish / trad Mennonite communities, or even in Mongolia where they still eat a ton of horse meat and don't name their rides. It's like, the more key a resource a horse is, the less precious you'll be about it.

Friends?

yesterday
Can't believe someone would just casually eat a horse.

Dogs now, uh..

Friends?

yesterday
Oh yeah, and I wasn't implying sentimentality in the people NOT running their horses into the ground either. That was probably more just a practical thing of having less horses to spare and the risk of being on foot cutting survival chances down so dramatically, besides not being used to pushing themselves for days either.

Not that personal feelings would have realistically mattered here,
because obviously even if he loves his horse that he hand raised, Farmer John who just found his brother and parents dead would prefer to not find his sister in law gang raped with her head smashed in and his nephews whisked away to somewhere a lot more than that.

Friends?

Got some Cherokee in my blood but that don't mean shit, really. I've also got Irish, German, English, French, Welsh, Dutch. So I'm pretty sure my ancestors were a bunch of horny European degenerates who came over here, saw the local women, and were like "Score!"

Whether or not it was consensual, I have no idea. I'd like to think yes, but considering the general history of how white people treated the local indigenous women... well, anyways.

Anyways, if you're looking for people who you think are gonna relate to you culturally (keeping to your own people, essentially) that's on you. But did it ever occur to you that branching out would be a good thing?

Aside from the possibility that you have things in common with people outside of your own race cause we're all human, interacting with people from other races and cultures allows you to learn more about the world and the people in it, and also would give others a chance to learn more about you and your background. You know... the kind of thing that helps foster empathy and tolerance? Not to mention some of us on here have BPD or know others who have it, and would possibly be a little more understanding about your situation if you weren't being a blood purist?

They used to show Little Big Man on TV every so often, my dad loved that movie. It's actually a really fun book too, and the book got a 1999 sequel, The Return of Little Big Man I also really liked. The protagonists poor sister ends up permanently in a 19th century looney bin though, which is a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone, and it's played up for laughs, F.
