Player Comments on Hell Girl: The Shattered Mirror

I have not seen the anime but this sort of story is timeless, it has been told all over the world in different forms. This was an excellent version with perfect writing, good use of pictures and probably the most effective use of the item option I've seen in a story game. I don't like fan fics a great deal as they are based on plagiarising to a lesser or greater extent but with a classical story like this it is not so much the idea as the execution that counts and this flowed together perfectly in story-game form, if a touch too linear in one or two places (info from 3 or 4 pages could probably have been condensed into 1 without any effect on the story-game overall)

As a fan of the series, this was quite a fun story. Reminded me of the first season. I think it would have been better if some of the pages were more consolidated. Overall this was a solid experience overall. Good job

I thought that in this story, the type of theme it had was pretty cool.

Also, the ending where you just endure it all sent shivers up my spine. I realize now you didn't quite mean what I imagined, but it still made me feel stuff, and as someone that's dead on the inside that's all I really want out of a story game.

It was really enraging to see that no matter what you do the endings are all very similar and although each one's a victory, I don't feel too victorious in any one of the ends.

Is there really any more than just the one ending?
Bit of a kick in the teeth to find that despite your choices, you have the same result regardless.

I've never heard of Hell Girl, but this was a pretty great storygame in terms of offering meaningful choices and writing. Going to explore some of the other paths. 7/8

*SPOILER* there was no hesitation. I pushed mayumi in front of the car without thinking twice. I guess she really got to me in the game :D anyways, very interesting story.

SPOILER: The game pretty much only gives you the illusion of choice, where it actually matters. Sure, you can reject Mayumi, but she ends up getting her way anyway. If you choose not to use the doll, the game will still act as if you did. I was hoping there would be a learning point that years of suffering is worth it to avoid an eternity of suffering in hell, but there wasn't one. There's really only one ending; you still go to Hell, no matter what. There's no choice.

Loved all the options that I got. Best part of the game was when I got to choose if I was scared or pleased. Also I am for. Please make more games so other 3-4 year olds like me can have fun.

It's not the worst text based multiple choice game but it's just verry bad. The outcome appears the same ((May contain spoiler)Must say I've only played once but I watched the anime and I didn't use the doll at all) but the outcome is still the same and there are way to less options. I understand this all is becous you made it from an anime and can't change it to much becous it would ruin the game. But thats why I would recommend you not to make text based multiple choice games based on animes unless the anime itself has multiple endings. (Yes there are animes like that) Also I think you would need to put a really really lot of work in these games if you want to get good at them. Becous your writing wasn't all that good. (Please don't judge me from my opinion it's my opinion just like yours is yours)

One of those stories where there is only one path. It, from what I read, doesn't have very many endings.

I commuted suicide o.o Her life was so depressing, and no one, no one helped her. It all seemed so hopeless. I wasn't really willing to send us both to HELL though. What's a lifetime of suffering worth eternal pain and torture? At least I can be comforted by the fact that this won't be my last life.

Bravo. One big Morton's Fork of a game. You can't win, really, because either way you're either condemned to hell, a murderer, a suicide, or torture victim, but hey...it was quite well written. And you can at least get the grim satisfaction of killing that bitch.

Oh. My. Gosh. This was one of the first games I ever played on this site, and this was just awesome. I played this about 7 times to get all the endings. The TV show seems a bit too dark for my tastes, but you did a great job with this story.

I really, really liked this. I'm going to replay it to check out the other paths. It was simple but had a good flow to it, and it was pristine as far as mechanics, grammar, and spelling are concered. I gave an 8!

Corinth had this story almost done, it seemed a shame to lose it. I cleaned up the loose links and finished one path. There's four endings, I think. Some of which are definitely Maturity 7. That's what you get for playing a game about Hell.
