And of course:
Each of you has cast yourself into a crucible, one that is so apathetically viewed I'm the one dealing with it. That's okay though. I needed to bloody my newly built agreena anyway, the sand is far too tan for my liking.
How this works:
Each of you has till February first to submit one (1) piece of writing to my site private messages. This piece should be no more than one thousand five hundred (1500) words (this is less because it'll mean I can get through them more quickly). To prevent you from just putting forth something you've already written, the piece must be in the 'Lovecraftian Horror' genre and include a yellow garment of clothing. I'll decide the winner, though I'll give a piece of criticism and compliments to each piece that deserves it. If you're worried about me picking favourites, knowing the authors and all, you've made the massive mistake of thinking I actually care.
Anyone not tagged may also join, as long as they follow the prior rules.
Failure to submit anything gives you the pleasure of being put into the shame pit. Whatever sad souls that are still in there are starving, so your skin should be a welcome sight to them.
Some admin may give pointless points to the winner, but don't count on it.
Thanks for doing this Green! Time to figure out how to write Cosmic Horor I guess.
Thanks for hosting this Green!
Honestly I'm probably going to lose due to the fact that I've never been that great at short stories anyway, and then you had to shorten the word count and add horror. I suck at horror. I suck at horror really, really bad.
That's true, I'll try to keep it in mind. The only thing is, I often come up with larger plots that won't fit in with the small word count unless I just use telling instead of showing. Then I either have to scrap the idea and come up with another one or have a bland story that isn't as fun to write or read.
At least we have a little over two weeks so I have time to procrastinate more experiment with and get better at horror and just writing short stories in general.
OMG, yes It happening (finally) I was scared ebon forgot.
Are you in threaded view? Make sure that the button on the top says non-threaded. If it says that it means that it is in threaded view.
He was very persistent.
From what I know of him this seems very fair. Hopefully we'll get something from them at some point regardless!
I greatly appreciate the consideration for my original request and real life schedule. This seems to have popped back up, changed formats, and taken off quickly; however, the lower word count and considerable time frame mean that I might be able to put something forward.
My apologies to Green in advance. Anything suspense/horror that I write is either painfully or comically bad. This will be a nightmare.
You get special circumstances.
Ooh this is happening, Im so exited! :D
is t ok to have fantasy like dragons or vampires with the horror parts or does it have to be the Cthulu time period?
By 'Cthulhu time period' im assuming you're referring to the 1920s or so (when CofC came out). In which case, no. Feel free to experiment with any setting as long as the story 'emphasizes the horror of the unknowable and incomprehensible more than gore or other elements of shock'. (Wikipedia)
@EbonVasilis. I'm going to kick you ass!
(Or am I? :P)
May the games begin. Good luck to all.
I got inspired, so I'd like to enter. Assuming you don't already have too many people, that is.
Feel free, looks like I'll be reading a lot, some of it may as well be by an author I know is competent. Put a puzzle in this linear story and I might weep, though.
Got it, one 1500 word riddle coming right up!
I suppose I should publicly throw my hat into the ring instead of just playing from the sidelines. Hope some really cool stories come out of this mini-contest. But I'm mostly doing this because I like to play chicken with the SHAME pit when I can. I've heard it's a horrid place. I can almost guarantee that some names will be added here and can't wait to see which ones.
For all future people asking 'can I please enter': yes you may. If you publically post it here and don't deliver though, you're getting SHAMED.
Aha you fools! I shall enter the fray just to throw a little more mayhem into the mix. That and I love me a good bandwagon so I'd hate to miss out on something interesting.
Hi, would like to enter as well if you still have room for one more.
Thank you! Then let's put Green's love of reading to the ultimate test.
This whole thing is gay.
Except for Green, she's cool
As an average lovecraft enjoyer, I think I'll join in on the fun. Last year, I was writing a lovecraftian CYOA on here but I never got around to finish it, so this will be fun to get back into that mindset.
Don't forget it isn't lovecraft if it doesn't have racism.
Don't help the competition!! Lol
I guess I can try my best but I'm not a very good writer :(
Ha ha, you were too late :)
Ha ha, you were too late :)
You forgot the comma.
You forgot the comma.
Your "nevermind" is capitalized. Mine isn't.
Your "Nevermind" Is capitalized my is not
I'm not sure if that was on purpose or not...
Stop coping me!
Ok yall, I will stop being a spammer.
Welcome to the fray, mind the blood at your feet and the pit in the center that brings you to hell.
Whaat, no one told me that it's gonna be Lovecraft?! Gosh darn it, I want to write one too just for the funsies. Oh, I've been already toying with this one idea.
