Can confirm it's a pretty fun browser game, and the races only take as long as it takes you to type a couple of sentences. Joining Yummy in his years long obsession is a pretty easy way to demonstrate your loyalty to CYStia.

I signed up, but despite pretty much every job I've had in the last 15 years involving typing I'm pretty middling in terms of speed so we'll see if I'm even useful. You should get an invite.

You contribute at least a small amount of xp for every race regardless of how you place. And there are daily achievement boosts too.

In pure typing without capitalization or punctuation I can average out a bit past 60 or even 70 on a good keyboard, which is better than the overall average human and basically as fast as you practically need to be as a writer or programmer before to stops mattering, but I'm also aware that's not a truly competitive number against people who know how to type fast.

Also I'm gonna need to be careful because that game is horrible ADHD fuel.

Peng is the only one we have so far who types at insane tryhard speeds, followed by Suranna. (I could get there and I vow to cast them both down, and I will do that as soon as I can take my laptop behind the barn and shoot it and also uh.... just get faster at typing.)

But there's no undoing what Yummy has done, just got to roll with it however many days until the fever abruptly passes.

I'm going to try and maintain longterm interest because Team CYStia being a boot stomping on the face of literal children, forever, just feels right. But Yummy is a true lifer who's been at this 6 years.

I noticed something weird, even when I type as fast as I can, some people are hitting over 90 WPM. Kinda feels like a bunch of the top users might be using typing bots or something to boost their speed. Makes me wonder if the competition is even fair anymore…

90 WPM is not actually fast enough to suggest cheating. With proper hand placement that actually uses all ten fingers you can easily get to 120 or even beyond that. I personally know multiple people at the 90+ range, but most of them are weirdos who live VIM

As a side not the thing that does annoy me is that sometimes I "lose" to people who somehow wrote slower than me and still got first place. Usually those people tend to have premium accounts, which makes me question things a little.

I used to be able to hit 90wpm back when I played MUDs all the time. Pretty rusty at this point though and more used to swipe typing on my phone than using a real, full sized keyboard for grownups.

I peaked at 80 back when I was doing more programming a few years back, the more prose I write the less I feel like speed matters with how often I pause, reread and redo sentences.

And yeah while it shows accuracy to my understanding your placement depends purely on how long it takes you to type out the paragraph given. I could be wrong

I figured it out.

You can type a little slower on average but still finish the race faster. It's the last number in the stats, and usually a very small difference, but the win always goes to the first one to finish line even if it's by half a second. This seems like the strategic use of nitros.

Yeah I figured that out a bit earlier when I learned how nitro works in this game. Makes me somewhat less mad about the whole thing since there is some strategy to using it.

It does take accuracy into account too I noticed.

The only thing that's disappointing is that there's really no way to chat within the game, but I'm guessing schools are using it so they gave to be careful.

Hmmm, I noticed something weird. If you mash the keyboard, you write the sentence faster ( the downside is you don't get that much accuracy ) :D

Sherb deleted a whiny thread from the Tduck account that implied he was making/had already made a third account. There's another thing that gives it away that I don't think he has any idea of, but it really did help to have a heads up on the timing!

It's always a fun phase when they have yet to figure out the trick of frontloading their alt's email address with Zs and Ys so they go all the way to the back of the alternate accounts tab and are borderline impossible to find.

Well I'm glad in this case, I still have ptsd from that bullshit. My browser would actually time out before it loaded the full page by the time we figured out that one kid was doing it.

Gosh, I don't think any mod who went through that will ever forget it. This one seems a little dumb though.

If the aim is to engender doubt though, it may be effective. But certainly if you're trying to stay hidden it is imperative to do nothing to draw attention to yourself. I wonder why people do this? Some sort of psychological double bluff in their own heads causing them to make a huge mistake?

A tip if you want to practice on something else so you don't tank your writing speed, this site has a bunch of different ways you can practice your typing and it's free.

Comma keeps fucking me up. I should know better. But it's a terrible place for such a frequent punctuation. Should be where the forward slash is. Got to remember to use the middle finger for it.

I had 108 WPM in that "The quick for jumps over the brown lazy dog." sentence. Could have had more maybe but I didn't know you also had to capitalize. Makes sense I guess.

How do you do Nitros?

You hit enter and it will use the nitro and skip the next word.

Did you just reply to yourself? Or did you forget to log on to your alt?

I found the answer to my question, and thought it might be useful for other people doing nitro typing, so I put up the response. I don't use alts.

Anyway, I was wondering the same thing. Not sure why skipping words is an achievement, but I am just here to make numbers go up.

There is a skill to picking which word to skip (especially since the skip includes trailing punctuation), although a fair amount of time I just hit it for the last word when I have a nitro dialy achievement.

There's a perfectly good edit button though...

What kind of update do you think would get more attention? The way I did it seemed to spawn a lot of comments.

I don't like typing and hated it when I had to take it high school.

I cannot do these accuracy challenges. I type slower to try and be more careful and somehow it makes the typos dramatically increase, which in turn also dramatically tanks my speed while fumbling to reorient.

My best guess is that the slower pace makes me have to consciously think about the letters more rather than just going on muscle memory.

I have the same problem. Every time I miss a comma or something, and start thinking about where the key is, I end up losing about six seconds.

I am determined to climb the ranks of the fastest typers in our team!

Leaderboard has reset and there's one lone tryhard, undoubtedly Asian, just thrashing our entire team? We have to fix this.

We have, by around 5k points. Although we do need more people doing dailies so these things don't happen, the competition will only get harder since school is starting back up. The sweaty elementary schoolers will swarm, and god forbid sweaty Chinese or Japanese elementary schoolers.

I get back from my summer camp tomorrow and then I can get use of my computer again. I'll join the effort. 

I'm almost certain the guy is cheating, so I'm basically ignoring them wherever they place. 100% accuracy at 174wpm doesn't seem possible anyway, though maybe that's my noobishness showing.

It’s most definitely possible, same thing when you see high level Tetris players place 20 pieces in 5 seconds. Shouldn’t be possible, but it is because of practice and muscle memory. And Smurf accounts.

I refuse to believe anyone with those skills would spend them soloing on Nitro Type.

We appear to be winning again, but it is close. Thankfully doing daily missions doesn't take that long

I'm no typing expert, but it almost seems like when I don't think about the words and instead trust instinct I do better. Then again maybe the last run was a fluke.

I'm similar in that regard since touch typing is mostly muscle memory. I get the best results when instead of trying to type fast I just type at my normal pace and go with the flow.

Did y’all know nitrotype has mobile support? It sucks but it’s cool.
