I, like apparently everyone else, lack a co-author, but certainly would be open to teaming up with anyone who was inclined (i.e. anyone left over).

Hm, I don't think I'll try this competition for a few reasons.
1. The last person I was co-authoring a story with semi-spectacularly left the site amidst the loss of his moderator duties, perhaps I am cursed and for the good of the site it's better if I don't co-author with anyone :D
2. I'm swamped with work until 1 October when I'm off on a ten day holiday so I'm not sure I'll have the time to do this.
3. Horror is not a genre I have much experience with and against such experts as Endmaster and Steve I feel my odds of writing a better story than them are about the same as being struck by lightning (and that's because I like to think if I did win the competition End would obviously contact the dark forces he's in touch with and arrange for an "accident" involving lightning, flames or apocalypses to befall the competition winner).
I wish good luck to everyone who enters though and look forward to reading all the competition entries. Thanks again to Bucky for organising such an interesting competition, these things are great to see. Maybe I'll give the next one a shot (my hunch tell me it might be Christmas themed...)

Inability to stick to a goal is what does us all in, incentives are needed. Even if it was as little as ten points, it might make a difference, and that way anyone who produces something worthwhile gets a participation prize.

I would probably be up for it in regards to time and effort. It's just that horror really is probably my least favorite genre to write. I think we all know that if a writer doesn't want to write a story, then they won't write that story. I look forward to the December contest though.

I was armed only with an inability to be self-critical, and way too much time on my hands. It also might have been 4 days, I'm pretty hazy on it at this point. No outline or notes. Not sure how many words, but it's 456 pages, at least 50 (75?) of which are one-liners in that stupid maze. I'm thinking that a lot of other pages had very few words too.

Do this again but ping them all, and I'm going to petition for you to take away some points. They killed the contest and prevented the only two entrants (who wrote an actually good story) from getting any reward for their effort, IMO they deserve injury in addition to insult.
Shame the fuck out of ShowMeTheCode and the other guy too. Their "story", kind of isn't one. Even if it's not spelled out in the rules I'd guess that an entry that qualifies for automatic deletion doesn't count.

I know who it is, and even with the co-author they're intending on choosing, they wouldn’t be eligible to win or even place due to Bucky's rules. However, I’m still sort of hoping they produce an okay story anyway.

Given that Ug and his drunk dinosaur buddy practically came in at the last minute and STILL patched an actual story together just makes the rest of your SHAMINGS even worse!
Oh, we didn't win. That's settled. My aim to was to produce a functional story game rapidly. That I accomplished.
With or without or co-author who may or may not be an alt, it's not a bad story at all and nicely trippy. I'm impressed you got it out so fast.
I could only give it a quick read on my phone but I'll definitely be taking a closer once I'm home.
I should note that with the story being so short people should find more than one ending before rating, especially endings that are not deaths.
This isn't anything like I'd always aimed to make my first story game here. But I'm actually really proud of what I've put out. It's invigorating. All day I've toggled between thoughts on the finished product and what I might do next.
It's cool though, because my next piece will not have a coauthor.

Oh, wow. Thanks for the feedback here. It feels great to see what I worked on appreciated. However, please only link the other story of the two. I think it was clearly better than mine and Lamp's. I'm sure Steve and Malk put considerably more time in than I did.

I don't think I could've set my expectations any lower for this contest, but even I was rather disheartened by the result. That is quite a remarkable feat to accomplish, so there's that. ^^
Hmm, although I'm quite confused about one thing in particular, tbh. Lancelot was rather active in the RP side of things on the forums, so I'm not sure on how WIBN and him couldn't properly communicate with each other to make something work out. Oh well, I suppose it doesn't matter now.

Yes, it is quite... different as for why our story did not work. (We actually put out effort.) Nonetheless, I will not delve into the details as a courtesy for privacy of PMs, (but there were no ill feelings between us when we surrendered to Steve and Bucky).
Okay, I just say Lance's post which said, "While I did quit, I don't think winning by default is an actual win." I will now shame both pf us by showing how deserving Malk and Steve are.
First and foremost, we had a bad idea to begin with. It was one of those stories where everybody is in a haunted building. It still sounds pretty generic... well, here it gets interesting. There were very few female characters in the storgame, yet all of them were lesbian, but the oddest aspect of this was that one of the girls only had the personality trait of "lesbian". Of course, I did all I can to salvage the characters, but they were still flat and low-quality by my standards. At this point, I was getting worried.
As we started writing the story, I noticed something odd about Lance's writing style. There were no quotation marks.... at all. I could not convince Lance to use them. The nail in the coffin of the story was when Lance told me about one of the death scenes. A character (who was rather tasteless) wishes to not down as the bathroom was flooding. Naturally, he would head to the nearest toilet. There, the character flushed the toilet to the drink its air. (Why?!) Instead of air coming up, a giant turd came out, and the character thus eats it and dies. Cue the LOLs.
As such, I realized that this potential entry should not be finished. Sorry Lance, but I figured this should give Malk and Steve some added praise (while minimizing the effectiveness for your argument that they should not win due to others not entering).
Oh... Well, I suppose that it was probably for the best to drop out of the contest then x)

As I lay on the bed in the bright room of the hospital, with my caring husband (well, as caring as a huge piece of turd is, anyways...) and the female doctor at the end of the bed telling me to breath deeply and push (in between moans of ecstasy as she masturbated, of course), I could feel the baby coming, after a long 9 months my baby was finally about to be born! But then the pain hit. Unbearable waves of pain surged through my body, and I let out a piercing shriek that rang throughout the hospital. My husband, obviously not noticing my outburst, since he is a, well, piece of shit. However, the doctor seems to have gone in full pussy playing mode, seemingly very turned on by my pain, not even paying attention to the baby anymore. Then, the baby comes. I can feel as something finally spurts out of my private parts, inducing incredible pain throughout your body and making a sickening splat on the floor. I wait for what seems like an eternity, paralyzed by fear, with the only sound being the doctor's moans as she seems to hit her climax and the squelching sounds as the thing gets up off the floor. Finally, the thing looks at me from across the bed, and utters its first words from its mouth.
Hi mom, how are you doing, it said.
I blink twice in shock before it continues.
Hey, hey, mom, hey, hey, hey mom!, it rambled.
I stare stupidly before I burst in laughter at the pathetic morsel in front of me. Suddenly, I'm joined by many others in the room, all laughing and pointing at the idiot who isn't even using quotation marks! The thing flees the hospital, chased out by everyone in the room. The abomination is able to escape, but something that looks like it has been reported to scour particular internet forums...

Disturbing imagery aside, this is written rather well.
To be honest,
a) In literary pieces in spanish, quotation marks are not usually used, and as it is my first language, I did commit that mistake.
b) In Kingsman, there is a scene where the rooms are flooded and they use shower pipes to get air from the toilets, weird, I know, but I thought it would make for something interesting.
c) Correction? please, he/she never told me anything about the quotation marks, and as for the characters, I do admit they were generic, but if it was actually such a problem, why didn't WIBN tell me anything apart from the sexuality isue? He/she never actually tried to change the story's setting nor told me to do it, so I thought he/she was okay with it.
Finally, WIBN, next time say something to my face instead of waiting around for anyone else to ask you about it.
