Compared to the Review Competition this certainly has a bigger prize pool, aha. Trophies are serious business! Still, reading is hard.
Procrastinating writing by reading, and procrastinating reading by writing, might be a good approach to take by those in the contest.
I think if I manage two featured reviews I might have a shot at first, second, or third (but happy to be proven wrong, aha).
Alright I guess I'll do my part for the community.
Here to cash in for my second throphy
Here to stop Darius from getting his second throphy
I hope Petros will kill you
...in a coin-toss murder story?
I will do ten thorough reviews; don't think that anyone else will do this much.

The mods are godlike and omniscient. They know.
I agree with ya there, DB.
Reviews are your duty as a citizen of CYStia. You should be lucky the powers at be reward anything for something such a reviewing stories on a story driven community.

Miss Mizal, you terrify me..... 0_0
...And I mean that in the most respectful way possible...
Count me in for this one! Always happy to sign on for more reading.
I might as well do something with my summer outside of working. I'll give it a go.
Sign me up as well.
I will try this "reading" thing.
Oh that's right... You can't 'read' :P
I guess since I've already been making comments in here I will sign up too. Just don't expect me to get much reading done because every second of free time will be poured into the Crisis Contest and the remaining Thunderdome duels. :,)
Okie! I will try and remember that!
(Or I'll have a post count on my profile)
Well maybe this will be incentive to finish reviewing every story below a 4, though I'll be taking breaks and reviewing better stories to preserve sanity and avoid burnout.
Count me in.
I'm in!
Also I just had a comment featured today after this contest started. Does that count as one?
If not, being featured for the first time is still an accomplishment.
Congrats!!! :D
Congratulations!
I'm in.
Sounds like a great challenge, I'm in. Guess there's no better way to start than to post a (hopefully) soon-to-be-featured review of The Reign of Terror.
That's true. Any healthy writing site should have more consistent readers as opposed to writers. I think it would be cool if you got given more points for a featured comment, although I'm obviously not educated on how the point system works. I feel like you can't get too many readers or too many people reviewing, but I feel like you can have the opposite lol.
I'll add that the featured comment itself is worth two points, so that's 16 points in a day for a single review. If you keep it up for a week, assuming no one else competes, that's 112 points.
Yay!

I've mostly been busy with preparing for the next academic year, so it might be a couple of weeks before I can return to reviewing regularly. Maybe I'll try to write reviews on my phone when traveling. Either way, if anyone wants to snatch the first-place spot (though really I prefer you don't), now would be a good time.
Don't mind me snatching it up because I finally have some free time now >:)
I knew you would respond, haha. But don't you have classes starting soon? I have a friend in the Netherlands and she says her new term begins in a week.
I'll take it as a compliment that my writing level is on par with someone older than me.
Technically I only have till the end of the week till things get busy again, but I'm mostly already done with the preparations.
I admire the competition here. Reminds me that I need to review some more stories as well. Want to give a decent showing before all of this is over, despite my own busy schedule.
Update: I don't recommend writing a review on your phone in a speeding car, especially if you have car sickness.
Anyway, it'll be at least 5 days before I can type up reviews on my laptop. I just hope I won't return to see Darius with 50 featured reviews.
Mystic is built different when it comes to reviews. She can smash out 2 well thought out reviews at least on the same day, even on lengthy stories. With me, i read the story (slowly, mind you) and then i probably spend about an hour just trying to gather my scattered and disjointed thoughts and feelings on the story, and then take another 40 minutes typing it out in a manner which is actually readable lol
I dont know how some of them do it, but ill give it my best shot : )
That wasn't me, but a member called MinnieKing. Just checked and saw that they once had 23 featured comments in a day, making all the other achievements on the Avon thread irrelevant lol.
23 featured comments in a day and 0 points lol
I noticed my order status has changed from 'warden' to 'warden of avon'. Does the status change occur once you reach a certain amount of commendations or?
My method is similar to Darius' and Will's where I take notes as I read each storygame. I found that to save time, I could just write the review while I read, however I leave the parts about the overall theme, character arcs and plotline for when I finish the storygame. Sometimes I still write disorganized draft notes when feeling tired and organize them later.
Honestly, after reviewing so many storygames, I notice some of them have similar elements where they succeed or fail. At one point, I copy pasted the same paragraph on formatting dialogue for three different reviews but I changed the examples to be specific to each (because it felt too much like cheating otherwise).
Shhh don't tell them.
Is this still going on? I see Ben posted some long review and I wasn't sure if the winner had already been called and he's still running the race.
What timezone is the deadline?
Also, when the deadline hits, are the judges going to go through the list of submitted entries and make any last minute decisions about commending comments that haven't been yet? I only ask cause I've noticed that a few of the entrants here have posted links to review for submission, and I wasn't sure if it just wasn't considered enough for commending, or if whoever is running the contest was waiting until the end to go through every one and tally up the score.
Is the contest over or do we have another 24 hours?
Thanks Will for running it, and Congrats to Mystic too. Out of all the people who could have won, I'm glad that it's you.
Thank you for running this contest, Will! It definitely inspired me to write a lot more reviews than I would have otherwise. I really appreciate the smiley face trophy :) Congrats to Darius for getting second place! If it makes you feel better, my original plan was to write 100 reviews and I did not even get close lol. My goal was to get my own personal trophy (receiving Will's meant I would meet the 3/4 active trophy holders requirement) and give you one if you mantained second place. However, it looks like some of the older trophy holders have become active since then so this is unlikely to happen for a while. Also, well done to Ben for somehow remaining in third place despite being away for the last two months of the contest (though maybe that's just a testament to the apathy of some other members). Kudos to Milton, Crimson and Noor who have written some really great reviews too. And thank you to my competitors, most of whom let me win too easily, though you wrote some good reviews in the process.
Congratulations on the victory! You definitely earned the big W!
Darn you always write the most wholesome comments. I would be honored to receive your trophy :) and I'm sure you'll get one in the near future.
Thank for organizing this competition. I hope we do more of these in future and that it will continue to encourage people on the site to read and review. Congratulations to Mystic, Darius and Ben! Feels nice to get a mention too even though I didn't review anything close to the top three.
Thank you very much! And honestly dude, you placed fourth out of two dozen contestants, finished out the contest as a major front runner, and submitted seven featured reviews in less than a month. That is extremely well done, especially considering most of the participants either didn't submit anything or only submitted a few. You and the other Frontrunners who put in effort deserve acknowledgment and point bonuses for your contributions as well.
