Hear ye! Hear ye! Rebellions and times of change are upon us! I don't know what other contests or events are planned, but we are rebelling and doing a contest anyways. I do not promise you points or commendations or features, but we hardly need permission to write. This contest will be the pursuit of story crafting on its own merits. If there's already a contest then write for that too.
Prompt: Any setting or context as long as it is centered around a rebellion or upheaval in the status quo!
Deadline: By December 31st 11:59pm EST
Rules: The only rule is you must follow the theme and submit by the deadline. Otherwise I don't care if you submit a 100k word story you already worked on or whether it was written for scratch. The stories will stand or fall on their own merit.
So get to rabble rousing and typing away. For God and for honor and to satisfy our own autism!
Moved to the proper news forum
And this contest is ending just as my yearly prompt contest will be beginning.
Hey that's good timing!
Awesome! Nice to have ya
Yeee locked
Locked and if you edit it to be otherwise I'll just remember
Ah fuck it, why not
Yeah.
Locked.
Why not, sounds like fun :).
I'm in.
Since there's no reward, can I gamble 100 points I place third or higher?
No.
Don't shit up my thread with your gay rp shit.
Sounds pretty gay
I was wondering when and who was completing the trilogy.
If you're writing Gay and Depressed fanfic it better be really fucking good. On top of the fact yours and Fluxes stories will already need to be really good as it is after whatever the fuck this all is.
One of my just started WIPs fits the prompt, so...I'm in.
I do have holiday booked, too, so hopefully, I'll be able to work on it then too.
Locked
Third time's the charm. I'm in.
I swear nobody ever bothers to keep proper track.

Thank you for the opportunity, Corgi! I get to use the word nigger a lot and it's in historical context, so it's okay!
"Choking on dick must've given you anoxia because I ain't losing in the THUNDERDOME or anywhere else any time soon"
Lol, fag.
In all seriousness though, good luck on your wedding, and I'm mostly laughing at how Corgi is probably having a fit because one of the guys who got his contest named the Gaybellion has tapped out.
I am also preemptively throwing in the shame towel, unless I come up with a better idea and throw something in. I got real busy real fast, and also am only entering the first tier and will jump out at the next contest. Sorry Corgi, I just haven't been able to hit the mark with any writing this month
I may have a chance now.
Darius is still in it and he's the King of gay shit, so it's still going to be a tough battle.
True, but this is technically a rebellion contest, and Corgi reacted slightly negatively to Flux's gay shit.
I just hope that anyone except Ben wins this gay contest, only because I just know that Ben would gloat for months on end about this.
I got to the point where if you've joined any contest, expect SHAMING if you don't turn in anything.
It's alright this time. She's mentioned the eye strain being bad before. Maybe the shame Mizal rule could just start in 2025 or something. I almost typoed and wrote 2050 so she almost got real lucky with that lol
:wholesome:
here is my entry - Eros
Wrote the final pages while (still) fighting off a cold and having to babysit a puppy who my puppy hates and I think you can tell. I'm going to bed now
Today's the day.
Should squeak in a few hours before the deadline. Mostly because I can't stay up until past 3am again tonight (I'm in the UK), so I'm frantically trying to finish up now.
Thanks! That's really nice of you to say 🙂
There's a bit more about Thorne, but the story primarily focuses on Arendin and Rain.
I hope you'll enjoy reading it if you get the chance!
And here we go!
Better choices than the first one, I think, though I did have to remove some paths as I got close to the end. I feel like there might have been a broken link somewhere, but I looked multiple times and couldn't find it. And the items kept giving my problems, but I think I fixed them. If not, I'll unpublish and fix sometime after the contest.
Going to sleep now.
If you have pages that look like a dead end, you may want to include a more obvious hint to use your items.
I ran out of time
I think that I should quit contests for a while and just focus on finishing all my open projects.

Alright that's time. Corgi will be judging your stories whenever he gets around to it and the rest are SHAMED.
Looking forward to your big comeback this year! I wanted to post this in the thread a few days ago, but didn’t want to risk being locked into the contest. Here are some of my tips for eye strain:
Of course, it’s also important to rest when you need it. But these tips may help minimize eye strain for first drafts so that when you’re ready to look at the screen, you can save those sessions for editing and refining.
Thank you for your assistance, End Master
Oh just fyi regarding the "continuity error," it was actually just an author error of being clear about when these event take place. Buckley had moved the heirs after the Dark Forest adventure, but before the invasion of the Citadel. This was made clear in one branch I had to remove, but I failed to communicate it clearly—although I did drop one line about when Feydred was berating you: "Your warning of the poisoned water, and the subsequent rescue of the heirs has allowed you forgiveness for your insolence, but remember your oath, knight, for above all things you are bound to your oath. Do not forget."
Basically I just failed to make it especially clear that that event happened, since it was entirely off-page.
Thank you! You get extra bork points.
@MadHattersDaughter @Cat2002116 @Darius_Conwright @RKrallonor @Fluxion
The entries have been read and reviewed. I will now take the tremendous task of deciding a winner. I shall let you all know tomorrow what the results are. You should all be proud of yourselves, this was a good showing and these are hilarious. Thank you all.for participating and finishing.
lol yeah yours wasnt so outright. I had my suspcions about a couple characters but thought I was just being paranoid at that point lol
turns out my intuition was correct
My original plan was to wait until after Corgi announced who won this contest, but just as well as I didn't.
New year, new CYS.
Less stories also means less I have to read.
I win either way.
No rebelling from my end. I'm still entering End's contest!
Still find it funny Morgan never joined that contest since she was actually around at the time.
I mean technically if I wanted to, I could put a LGBT tag on Suzy and Tales 2. Hell I could probably even put it on Tales 1 and AVSCYS.
However, those probably aren't what the alphabet crowd would be looking for and I figure I'm already getting the troll lols by keeping Love SICK in the romance section.
The original Gay and Depressed is on the second page of the search all by itself, as it should be. Nothing can quite come close to it.
I actually thought MHD and Darius had way more gay stories than they did. They only got one apiece according to the search.
Cat and Mara are currently gayer with 2 each.
EDIT: Okay, Darius' "It's a Boy!" is definitely fucking gay. Added the tag.
About 4 of mine did have one or two LGBT characters, but there was too little focus on it with the other three to justify that tag
I mean then we'd have to start making 3 million different tags just to represent what sort of gay shit and in what context.
Which I suppose would be pretty on target for the rainbow people and adding more and more labels.
Hmm...endorphins from actually finishing and posting something (a rarity when I was on IS) slightly muted due to no judging.
Probably won't affect my entry to the Prompt contest, though. My current universe tends to keep my attention and keep me writing, so...my slightly more ambitious storygame should still get finished.
That's very much appreciated, thanks.
I'm hoping to read, rate and review them all over the weekend. I would have done so earlier, but was travelling all day today and I'm back at work tomorrow.
the what. the what scene?
Dammit now I have to go read Cat's story
Well, that's just removed one possibility from my Secret Santa guess....
You know those bots have hot-swappable parts.
I'll accept my award for winning the contest on my desk tomorrow morning, thanks.
The different topics are definitely super cool! I just don't like the added stress of a time limit. I like writing on my own time, if the fact that I've been on the site for nine years without a published story doesn't make that obvious. However, I should absolutely take time to read some of the submissions. I can only imagine the effort and creativity y'all put into each one.
Deadlines are there to make sure we actually do the writing, preferably before nine years pass. Three months is more than enough time to make a storygame, and I'm sure you'd surprise yourself at how well you could pull something together!
Still, if that just really isn't your cup of tea, we certainly would love some reviews left on the storygames that are up and published already.
It's cool that you're showing interest in doing productive things! I hope you stick around to enjoy all this site has to offer. Feel free to message me if you've got any questions; I know the right places to start looking for answers, if nothing else.
We would definitely appreciate any feedback you have on the submissions here and elsewhere. Ratings and reviews are always welcome.
For sure.
He is just leaning into the spirit of rebellion by not judging the rebellion contest. Very rebellious.
I do my contest in my own time. Don't tell me when or how to do it
You're gonna have to either have your story disqualified or just disburse my points to everyone now. I'm not picking a winner under these sort of conditions, and on the chance yours might win I'm not going to have it said that I just pander to whoever decides to hold my points hostage.
So make your choice
I mean if he disqualifies your story, might as well just announce Cat as the winner now.
It's good thing TCat or Fresh didn't join this one. I would have just vetoed the whole thing and announced one of them as the winner.
Aw man, I keep just missing my chance
Well taking my points and demanding a time frame isn't quite the same as just asking lol
Alright I'll tell you what. You worked hard on your story regardless so I won't be disqualifying it. I don't want my points or anything to do with them. Just don't do that sort of thing in one of my contests again please.
I do for what it's worth appreciate you powering through and submitting. The rest just seems a bit much to me lol
Anyways hope you're feeling better by now
This turn of events is very on theme and fitting, hope it will be recorded in CYS history :)
Anyways thanks for entering and submitting those of you who did. I'll get to the judging portion soon just been real busy
I read and reviewed Bezro's story before seeing this...but I've read all of the other entries anyway.
Here, I've just made it easier for everyone involved by getting rid of one contestant.
Bezro has been thrown into Triple SHAME and had 511 points taken away for being a Toaster Fucker.
Nice. Toast fuckers be gone!
Can we distribute his points to the other participants?
He only had 11, but yeah do whatever you want with them.
Oh right.
Just banning that one right now and another 531 points taken.
I distributed them to the people!
Hope yellow can stomach the unbearable wait of whenever I post again. Whenever that is.
The results will he declared this upcoming Wedneaday at the latest. It will probably be done before then but that's the timeliness I'm giving
Contest Results:
Alright, I could not make an announcement thread so just doing it in here. The turn out of this contest was better than expected and had more people finishing than I had hoped for. Very good job to those of you who finished. This contest was a rollercoaster of typing, peeing on the floor, contestants entering and exiting. Only a few survived and persevered, and some are covered in the juices of gay men.
The contest quickly went awry when the gay rebellion sprang up. The entries of which still make my skin crawl but were at least pretty funny and entertaining. Stalling is for fags so without further ado:
The winner will be announced, and though there is one winner over all, each has won for themself a trophy as well. Each member will have a section with their distinctions and trophies:
MadHattersDaughter
WINNER:
Well, MHD wins the contest. I am happy to announce, despite her swatting me with newspaper and me nipping her ankle. Her story was not as long as I had thought, but though it was on the shorter side it had a lot of fun choices. Of course, the writing was very decent and I didnt see any jarring mistakes. It also had the distinction among a pile of degenerate stories of NOT shoving homosexuality in my face. The overall story was not distracted from by the tones of the uhh, themes. It also had really cool cover art. Like most of the entries I would not mind if this one had a second edition where branches and such were...ahem, extended.
Achievement Unlocked: The Only Story that Knew Corgis Love of Milfs
Fluxion
Second Place:
Fluxion really surprised me. I thought for some reason his was gonna be one of the most obscenely grotesque stories. It probably had the most wholesome bits in some paths which was a nice change of pace. The story also seemed to focus more on the plot and narrative stuff so it got big points there. It definitely seems like this one would have a lot of room to grow into a sprawling story if you wanted to continue it or even rework it into something bigger in the future. But as is I really like it. Yours was also the most muted in terms of the gay stuff out of the stories that contained it. This story flowed really well and did a really good job of flowing me through the story.
Achievement Unlocked: The Most Chivalrous Crusader
RKrallonor
Third Place:
The latest installment of the Gay and Depressed series was hilarious. The internal narrative of a man who was a gay hating radical turned aggressively gay homosexual butt rapist had me dying. There were a decent amoutn of choices, and definitely seemed like the most complete story at least of the ones on the shorter end, maybe other than Flux's. Though Cats had the same vibes it was a longer story. You really did a lot with a little bit. The sheer humor of it carrried this entry quite far.
Achievement Unlocked: The Most Aggressively Homosexual
Darius Conwright
Darius, your story was very well written and I really liked the setup. Starting with a letter being written by a dying fellow was very unique, and I was wondering what his childhood had to do with it but I know European writers always have to include that stuff as per contractual obligation. But also I like how it tied to the recipient of the letter. I wish there was more about the rebellion stuff since that was interesting, and Id definitely read an expanded version of this story too. It was very well written and took its time establishing details and characterization in a way that felt concise and not meandering at all. Its a hard vibe to pull off.
I dont remember too much gay shit but you're Darius so I know that just makes the story gay. I would have loved to place yours higher, and in fact intended too but there was just too much that was too good about the others ones.
Achievement Unlocked: The Flying Gay Dutchman
Cat
Your story places in last, but does not place last place in our minds. Well, of the finished entries. You still beat the shame pit. I appreciated the effort you seemed to put into your story. At nearly 50k words the story was impressive for such a short length. Alas, it was the most obsecnely and uncomfortably gay story. Which marred my understanding of it a little. Still, it was written decently and I liked the plot, it was interested and seemed like a very fun story. Though you have placed last you have still placed which is a testament to the effort you have put in. I also think this story is the sequal to another if I recall correctly so that is cool too.
Acheivement Unlocked: The Most Uncomfortably Gay Story
So there it is folks! This was a great contest and a good time. Thank you all for finishing and making this a very fun contest.
Thank you
Congrats everyone! Good job on finishing!
This was a fun contest though, and I feel like the rate of completion was a little higher than usual, although I'm too lazy to confirm that.
12 entries, 5 valid submissions = 42% submission rate
Ogre already did some of the work: https://chooseyourstory.com/forums/news-and-updates/message/30278#904606
Glad that worked out for you lol. All in all this was a very good contest
Thank you for judging Corgi!
I'm very much ashamed of my work and poor planning abilities.
I agree. I think it is better than you are self-evaluating it as Darius.
Nice job, all!
Adorable, and neatly explains corgi's extended review period.
Cute drawing!
Well done on the win, MHD! It's impressive how you managed to finish Eros alongside a spectacular Secret Santa masterpiece and create artworks for the newsletter all at the same time. And congaytulations to everyone else who finished something for the contest. Kudos to Corgi for hosting it too.
This is funny lol
Basically how it went down. Whoops
It was a very scarring scene
