This holiday season while you count your blessings, remember that your admin-given commendations are one of them. Sometimes they're truly deserved, sometimes they're just a gift for being funny, or because of blatant favoritism.

But do you know who lies awake alone on a cold night, and doesn't have any commendations? That's right, the Wardens. (Lol.) Somehow in our land of plenty, where commendations seem free for the taking, a veritable caste system has arisen, and you know how CYStians feel about countries with caste systems.

This holiday season, you can help out these disadvantaged CYStians, who are like you in every way, except for the fact that God made them Wardens. (Lol.)

For every 1000 points donated, we can come together as a community, combine our resources and buy a pity comm for a deserving Warden. (The 1000 doesn't have to fully come from one person, just donate what you can spare and it'll be tracked in a pool.)

Now you may ask, what makes a deserving Warden? Well it has to be one in the top ten list by the end of the year, because I mean, the bar is not high, wtf have the rest of you been doing all this time? Lol.

The qualifying Wardens can choose to share the comms equally, or compete for them, but since we're dealing with Enterpride, Petros, and Chris here I already know what the answer will be. Therefore whoever does best in the New Year's contest will gain the entire prize.

And if none of them have a qualifying entry? Then lol, guess people will learn better than to try and help an Order that won't help themselves again.

And I will make the first donation of 500 points.

Well... I'm trying to get points not lose them but whatever. I'll donate 7. Specificaly that because it'll even me out to 300. I'm also not willing to risk many points from what I've seen of people's ability to get in an entry here.

Unfortunately, I only have like a sixth of the commendations required to qualify. I doubt I can make myself eligible for this.

As for the point donation thing, I'd be willing to donate some points provided one of the eligible contestants is actually willing to confirm that they'll participate in the new year's contest.

Looks like you need 100 commendations in less than two months, which means you could do one of the following:

• Get 100 posts commended
• Write 50 feature-worthy comments
• Publish two 29k storygames
• Publish a 100k storygame

However, my best advice would be to combine these techniques, e.g. finishing a 29k storygame (which, if I remember the calculation correctly, was the optimal number which gives you 54 comms), reviewing 20 games (another 40 comms), and creating 6 funny/ helpful/ artistic posts. Now doesn't that sound feasible?

Also, as a plan b, I'm sure if you get within the top ten before the contest ends, which gives you a few more months, you could potentially qualify for stealing the commendation prize pot.

Damn.. I actually didn't know getting a story game featured gave so many comms. Maybe it isn't as hopeless as I thought. :D

Guess I'd better get to work on producing something feature worthy. I might as well end the year swinging.

Why write a featured comment when you can post a couple of sentences agreeing with Mystic?

That wouldn't work 99 more times, unfortunately. I did double-check some recent commendations first to make sure ironic comms still occurred and this wasn't an abuse of my power.

All those points for 2 comms? Congrats, you've saved a Warden the trouble of writing a featured comment or creating two funny posts!

(Unless I've misunderstood and it means two storygames would get commended, in which case that is a very different scenario)

But the Wardens are incapable of helping themselves.

I could potentially consider giving out 1 comm per 500 points, but originally I thought that would actually make it too easy given the number of surplus points floating around and the fact anyone can pitch in over the next month and a half. I hadn't quite expected anyone to throw their whole pot in though.

I think I'll refund RK half those points though just for extreme wholesomeness.

Obviously I'm not offering to commend storygames lol, they'd have to produce storygames worth commending first now wouldn't they?

I'll hold off on donations until I see any actual effort, then. I wonder if this allows a Warden to buy comms for themselves using points (or if they even would).

They can add to the pool, but they still need to get themselves in the top ten and then step over their unmoving neighbors in the contest.

     You definitely deserve the points you're giving away and that Liminal is giving you, have you stopped and took a moment to realize how nice of a hot dog you are? (don't take that the wrong way) And those are hard earned points anyway. You even have a story game, something that a shockingly large portion of CYStians don't have.

     Thanks, but I don't think I did too good with it and I would implement more of an education factor but I don't know all too much in the field I was trying to do. My idea was too ambitious, and it's probably going to reflect in the result.

     Also I think you're nicer, all things considered.

Don't beat yourself up Avo. Focus on getting it in. You'd be surprised how many people mess up and don't submit anything. By submitting, you'd already be above many competitors. I bet you'll be happy with the results, by the end. Just focus on doing the best you can!

Standing desks are a thing... can't confirm whether people who use them are in their right minds or not though.

I would never use them at home, but they're pretty chill at work. Just so you can hop in the booth, write up a quick report, and be out again dealing with the next shitstorm without even having to overcome the mental barrier that is standing up from a comfy chair.

It seems to be around 2887 points in the pool currently? A lot of people have said that they were donating points to specific members; I have no idea if those are being added to the pool or what. I didn't count those in my total.

Can't say as I approve of this as the Wardens should be pulling themselves out of the mud by their own bootstraps, but I'm sure this will all fall on deaf ears.

I'll give 149 of my points but I think it would be more effective if the Wardens tried to earn Commendations themselves by writing decent story games, writing commendable reviews or doing the forum post thing. If only there was some writing competition taking place right now that they could join and try to turn out a good Edutainment story for :)

And it's really nice that RK has randomly bankrupted himself points-wise on their behalf but we need to stop giving him opportunities to do stuff like this :D If he ever went to donate blood I can see him trying to insist that they take all of it.

As a representative of the Wardens, I find this post to be an offensive act comparable to only the worst of atrocities in recorded history. Though commendations are few, we are a proud people. Some of our members don't contribute as much, but there are those in our community that are striving hard to lift up our good name from derogatory, hateful and spineless declarations like these.

Keep your points. They are not ours. We do not accept them.

Yeah that's a good point, it's less a bold statement on bootstraps and more just removing any pressure on himself to get into the top 10 in the timeframe the way Clayfinger's trying to do. Smh.

If you can write two commendable 15k storygames you can do it.

Writing is the one weird trick the Wardens never figured out, they're heavily weighted that way for a reason.

Sindriv being smugly proud of his 700 comms only works when compared to the rest of you.

Speaking of top ten, no matter what you think of Sindri, he is still among the top ten commended individuals. So even if you're not a warden, you can use this as motivation to climb the commendation leaderboard!

The Marauders are winning because they have End, the only person with over 2k commendations, and Ninja, who writes a lot. Of all the orders, there are the most Architects among the top ten (not propaganda or anything). We lucked out having by Will and Ogre who have an insane number of storygames. As for the Sages, two of their top members have not been around for a while, leaving Mizal to carry the torch. And yeah, there's only one Warden on the leaderboard.

Now, if you excuse me, I have to write. It looks like publishing another 100k storygame (or even a 90k one) could put me in fourth place.

Sages used to be in first place at one time.

There, I contributed to the Sage Donation Drive by commending Wildblue's post about not wanting help the Wardens.

What killed us was the adjustment to let older games be commended.

That should've always been in place anyway. JJJ was making up dumb rules as usual as far as that was concerned and a great injustice was finally corrected.

Did End used to be a Sage and switched to Marauders to end Sages' overwhelming dominance of the leaderboard or did I imagine that? :)

The only changes that happened were us figuring out a way to commend older games (For some reason JJJ had disabled that, but iirc someone discovered a workaround, I think BZ?)

And there was later a readjustment to give longer games more commendations. Both of these obviously worked out really well in End's favor.

Ah right, another acid flashback then :) Being able to commend older games is definitely a big help.

My having even slightly more than Mystic proves the system is broken.

I think the system is fine, since you have had an account for much longer, wrote 11 storygames and contributed lots of helpful posts to the site. Meanwhile I just showed up roughly 6 years ago and spammed 100k stories every now and then. Besides it'll only take about a hundred comms surpass you, which I would feel bad about doing if not for the fact that this ranking likely wouldn't matter to anyone else but me.

@SindriV, if you have time and you're interested, please accept! You'd essentially write a 2000 word short story on a prompt Mizal gives, and then people will judge from 2 anonymous stories. It's very cool!

A 2000 word short story is usually the absolute most they can usually be convinced to do.

How about we give it to the Warden that does best, no matter whether they are in the top 10? That way this donation drive achieves its goal. Surely at least one Warden would show up to the contest and submit something, be it Clayfinger (who now seems to be leading the charge with a reviewing spree) or a random noob that shows up for the contest.

This whole conversation just underlines how pathetic they are really. Maybe charity is the wrong idea, maybe we should force them to dig ditches instead.

Actually, after having done some math, I've chosen to redact my previous donation. There's a lot of numbers that don't add up neatly to 1000 here, and it's pissing me off because it means all of you may as well be throwing your previous point donations into a flaming dumpster. I mean, you already are doing this by commending wardens, but I mean, there are noobs out here being like, "I want to give 10 points" or "What if I gave 39 points or some other autistic weird specific number", you are BURNING YOUR POINTS, you can't give out 1 tenth of a comm. If the point total doesn't add up cleanly to a number divisible by 1000, up to 999 points of donations will have been wasted! In order for every little bit to count, somebody rich has to step in and fix things.

So I'm amending my donation no longer to match SindriV, but to be a minimum of 1,000 points, plus whatever bumps us to the next commendation when the final total is counted.
