Each of you has cast yourself into a crucible, one that is so apathetically viewed I'm the one dealing with it. That's okay though. I needed to bloody my newly built agreena anyway, the sand is far too tan for my liking. 
 

How this works: 

Each of you has till February first to submit one (1) piece of writing to my site private messages. This piece should be no more than one thousand five hundred (1500) words (this is less because it'll mean I can get through them more quickly). To prevent you from just putting forth something you've already written, the piece must be in the 'Lovecraftian Horror' genre and include a yellow garment of clothing.  I'll decide the winner, though I'll give a piece of criticism and compliments to each piece that deserves it. If you're worried about me picking favourites, knowing the authors and all, you've made the massive mistake of thinking I actually care. 
Anyone not tagged may also join, as long as they follow the prior rules. 
 

Failure:

Failure to submit anything gives you the pleasure of being put into the shame pit. Whatever sad souls that are still in there are starving, so your skin should be a welcome sight to them.

Success:
Some admin may give pointless points to the winner, but don't count on it.

Honestly I'm probably going to lose due to the fact that I've never been that great at short stories anyway, and then you had to shorten the word count and add horror. I suck at horror. I suck at horror really, really bad. 

Shortened word count does make it more difficult, but should lead to stronger stories overall. You have to stop and think about what's the most necessary to include.

Horror does suck though. But if it makes you feel better, Lovecraft honestly wasn't that great at it either.

That's true, I'll try to keep it in mind. The only thing is, I often come up with larger plots that won't fit in with the small word count unless I just use telling instead of showing. Then I either have to scrap the idea and come up with another one or have a bland story that isn't as fun to write or read. 

At least we have a little over two weeks so I have time to procrastinate more experiment with and get better at horror and just writing short stories in general.

I'm going to make Shadowdrake exempt from SHAMING, I originally put him on the list with the understanding there'd be an interest check closer to the time if he wanted to stay on it. And he has the kind of job where he gets excuses for becoming extremely busy at random.

From what I know of him this seems very fair. Hopefully we'll get something from them at some point regardless!

I greatly appreciate the consideration for my original request and real life schedule. This seems to have popped back up, changed formats, and taken off quickly; however, the lower word count and considerable time frame mean that I might be able to put something forward. 

My apologies to Green in advance. Anything suspense/horror that I write is either painfully or comically bad. This will be a nightmare.

is t ok to have fantasy like dragons or vampires with the horror parts or does it have to be the Cthulu time period?

By 'Cthulhu time period' im assuming you're referring to the 1920s or so (when CofC came out). In which case, no. Feel free to experiment with any setting as long as the story 'emphasizes the horror of the unknowable and incomprehensible more than gore or other elements of shock'. (Wikipedia)

Looks like I have to write here, perhaps I'll get lar to start off my story: that new Gutenberg command sounds quite decent!

Does this exempt me from being double-shamed? I'd love it if so.

While you can be SHAMED for failure, obviously you can't be UNSHAMED for writing 1500 words in two weeks. What kind of operation do you think we're running here?

I suppose I should publicly throw my hat into the ring instead of just playing from the sidelines. Hope some really cool stories come out of this mini-contest. But I'm mostly doing this because I like to play chicken with the SHAME pit when I can. I've heard it's a horrid place. I can almost guarantee that some names will be added here and can't wait to see which ones.

For all future people asking 'can I please enter': yes you may. If you publically post it here and don't deliver though, you're getting SHAMED.

As an average lovecraft enjoyer, I think I'll join in on the fun. Last year, I was writing a lovecraftian CYOA on here but I never got around to finish it, so this will be fun to get back into that mindset.

Don't forget it isn't lovecraft if it doesn't have racism.

Thread might need a rename since this is just a big free for all now, no one is dueling Ebon specifically.

What's the time zone of the deadline? If you're cutting it six hours short of the usual, they should probably be told.

Ebon gets title privileges because when/if he fails people NEED to remember he brought all of this on himself. 
 

They've had a ton of time to write a minimal amount of words, six hours won't hurt anyone. However the cut off will be 1AM February first 2022 GMT. That's the time my inbox operates on, so honestly it's just easier for me. Any entries after this point don't count: you'll still be shamed, I'll still steal your points (minus corgi, for roleplay purposes).

Shadow is also safe from SHAME per prior agreement.

Ok two things: 1, where do i submit it? 2, is it ok if it is not more than 300 words?

I didn't even know anything about this until I checked the site yesterday, I thought these had just been canceled after Ebon failed the other contest. But I still wrote a story and sent it in on time. I hope everyone else did too.

Oh yikes. Can someone break it down for me? What time In mountain Standard Time was  I supposed to submit this by? All I did was type in GMT time, and I realize now I may have made a mistake.

What about EST? I thought I turned it in on time because when I typed it in google it said it was 8pm for me

I really don't understand how anyone is having any confusion at all when all anyone has to do is type in 'GMT time now' to get the exact current time there in large bold numbers, but somehow this happens every contest.

And with that display of googling knowhow, marginally late entries and 'lovecraft-ian horor' (I'm real sure this is how you spell it), the first Agreena match closes its doors.

I will require time now to read everything, decide upon a winner, and make a post determining their victory. After that point you can expect a review of ALL the Agreena entries (in the order they were submitted) over the next week or so!  Watch this space.

You ought to make a new thread for the reviews and the stories themselves. And I hope other people join in on providing feedback.

I made sure to use my time very wisely.

I was more just talking about me, and I knew how well stargirl's went ( she told me she did it between the time of 5:00 Am-7:00 Am, on the same day. and that day was yesterday).

Green, I'm so sorry you had to burn your eyes on my story. 

At least it wasn't my ears, those are already damaged
