Hey, all. Seth and I still need more beta readers (people to proof read and play-test, before anyone unfamiliar with the term asks) to sign up for the School-Based Contest.

If you sign up, you'll be randomly assigned to a competitor (perhaps more than one, if we cannot get enough beta readers to have it be 1:1) and if you're able to fulfill your obligations in assisting your assigned competitor, you will be rewarded for your hard work. (With points. I'll determine how many according to your workload.)

Note: Yeah, I removed the links for the individual stories, I'll just let you guys work with your authors about getting into their games. Most people here don't really need the link anyway because you know how to access the games regardless. Please do not co-author with your beta because this is not a co-author challenge. They're assigned to test your game and inform you of mistakes, not to edit or write for you.

I plan to pitch in if needed and take whatever projects no one else is able to do. Also, Tim just offered.

EDIT: As betas, will there a limit to how much we can help the author? Can we only help with fixing gameplay/writing error or can we give deeper advice than that?

EDIT EDIT: And as contestants, are we only allowed to get our betas to play/give feedback on our storygames before publishing?

I am not allowing writers to be betas. You guys have enough to do on your own projects. Mm... I don't have a problem with other people offering feedback in the writing workshop threads, but ... the thing that would bug me about that, and about Betas doing more than just pointing out errors, is if someone tries to get a large chunk of their plot from somebody else. I'm iffy about preplayers beyond the betas, so... let's see what Seth thinks?

@Sethaniel - additional play testers, yes / no? And any input on the feedback thing?

I'll do up to three.

3-5, depending on schedule.

I can do up to two.

Preferably I would like to do two, but I'll do three if it's necessary.

I'd preference to stay at two unless they are short entries, could prob do 3 short ones.

You sure you weren't using any subtle suggestion for us to beta-read mizal's story? Jeez, I know she's bad, but not THAT bad.

Do you assign what stories the beta's will read, or will they be allowed to see which story they want to read?

It's going to be random. Otherwise it's likely to tip in the favor of popular authors / members.

I am doing the beta assignments right now, but if anyone else is willing to jump in and lighten my load or that of the other betas, it would be appreciated.

Your assignments are up, please check the OP, and thank you very much for your participation.

You will be rewarded for your efforts at the end of the contest, (provided you actually get the chance to make said efforts, a couple of those entries only have a few pages and may not make it to submission) please discuss schedules with your authors individually as I am not privy to the times when you or they are available.

Well, I think that most of these betas are going to end up saddled with most of the work from shitty authors who try to push the burden on others.

That's why co-authoring with anyone except me is not allowed. So betas cannot edit.
