I got the cool ending!

I had so much playing the game. It was an open world exploratory game where you have to save a bunch of hostages from terrorists who took over a Walmart shopping center.

The premise of the game was delightfully absurd! The idea is so ridiculous, yet the author was so creative with how he structured the game. From the creation of a bomb, to hiding in terrorist clothes to blend in to the terrorists, all of the mechanics were so creative.

Alex did a really great job on this game! The only negative is that the uber ending doesn't work. I really wish Alex would come back and add that ending. You have to use the spy ear in the Toys section.

This is one of the best games on the sight. Alex makes great use of variables, delayed links, and he makes it challenging enough to where you're having fun, but not hard enough that you're stuck. I also love that he doesn't just give you an easy victory, you have to work for it. Even something as simple as navigating a car maze, you have to reverse the directions.

There are so many puzzles and games. Alex did a fantastic job and made a classic that will endure for many years to come!

Okay, I'm going to say it... This is one of those games whose ratings are skewed disproportionately positive because you can't even leave a rating unless you've dedicated however many hours of your life clicking random buttons in the hopes that you'll be able to figure out whichever fucking item it is that you're supposed to be using. (Here's a hint. It's the go-kart. Whatever puzzle you're trying to solve right now, I'd say there's a 90% chance you're supposed to use that bloody go-kart.)

Now don't get me wrong, I like puzzle games. In fact, I love puzzle games. I'd say the old-school point and click puzzle solving games are probably my games of all time. Tell you what kind of games I'm not so keen on... This weird brand of, "Spend several hours collecting a trolley full of pointless crap that you'll never end up using, until you find one item which you'll need to use for more than half the puzzles" games that CYS has going on.

Here's how I like my puzzle games: You collect a bunch of items. Every item is used once (maybe twice if you're feeling REALLY spicy) and then it disappears from your inventory and you never see it again. Also, most importantly, the puzzles actually make bloody sense! Like, "Oh look, a hungry monkey... And I have a banana. Whatever shall I do with this banana? And however shall I cheer up this hungry monkey? What a dilemma." Not, "Oh look, a group of terrorists. Whatever shall I do with these 100 useless items I have found, that no being in the world would have pockets large enough to carry all this crap in? Maybe I should use my go-kart for the 57th bloody time!"

I'm sorry but these games are just a bloody headache! There's no rhyme or reason to it, you're just wondering around aimlessly, picking up useless item after useless item that you're never going to use, wasting time searching for an Uber Ending tha doesn't even exist and driving around that bloody go-kart!

So, what did I think of the game? ... ... ... Yeah, it was alright. I mean, I don't think it's worthy of the ridiculously high rating it has (personally I preferred Jurassic Fairview Park, but that's probably just because it had dinosaurs.) Still, the game was very well put together. It came with a walkthrough, which is great for the pussies like me who can't be bothered to try again after one failed attempt. As a Brit, I had to appreciate the dry humour, and... Well, who doesn't like playing with go-karts? 6/8.

The game is fun, but holy hell is it hard. Eventually I had to resort to using the walkthrough. The game uses the items in a fun and unique way, and by the end of it all you'll have an arsenal of seemingly everyday items that you can use in creative ways to dispatch terrorists or solve problems.

Still, fun as the game is, it's not very well written. I noticed more than its fair share of typos and grammatical errors. Not to mention that it's kind of tedious doing some things, like having to check the lawn and garden section multiple times near the end in order to tell the manager you thought of something or check on the bomb.

Still, this game is a true CYS classic, and I really enjoyed it. 6/8.

I really enjoyed this game! I think the lack of item instruction was perfect for this type of game. It would've been pretty boring if you were spoon-fed every detail. I see why this game is so popular, and I may return to explore things I didn't get to the first time (if any). I did get to all 3 endings, but I'm sad the Uber ending wasn't available. I'm thinking that ties up a lot of the loose ends that were left unanswered. 8/8

This game is incredibly challenging, and not in an enjoyable way. There isn't any clear logic to the majority of the "puzzles", you just have to try to use the right items in the right order, and sometimes do the same thing repeatedly. For example, Step1: going to a specific location, Step2:using the right item, Step3:talking to the right person, Step4: asking the right question, THREE TIMES IN A ROW. That entire sequence, three times over before you get the ability to move forward. You will feel like you have exhausted your options before turning to the walkthrough and figuring out you need to choose what seems like a dead end repeatedly.

I got the 'cool' ending with the help of the walkthrough. But how do you get the 'uber' ending?

This was a challenging and creative game with good detail. Finney at times, it was very entertaining.

Only problem is, I couldn't figure out how to get the best ending, and that was probably bbecause I couldn't find a use for every item. Like how and where do you use the spy ear at? Or the fact blaster? Some things I just couldn't figure out how to use.

Over all, it was a fun game, but it's likely you won't find the best ending.

I got the Über-Ending, or at least to where I can access the Über-Ending, which is still under construction. Overall, I really enjoyed this, but it got really confusing, and I only won out of trying random things in random places. I decided to give up after getting the "lame" ending, and I'm going to assume that since the last update was in 2003, that that's as far as I'll get with the Über-Ending. Still, amazing game, and really funny.

This is perhaps the best Story Game I've ever played! It was perfect in my opinion, so I rated it an 8 :)

I had trouble at first trying to figure everything out, but I really like how the author brings that difficulty to the game. It makes it a very well-written story and also very strategic, which I love.

Overall, great job to the Author and I would definitely recommend this story! :D

To pogress on the uberending you have to get the spy ear and use it in the toy store. Currently you can't pogress on it but that's how you start it.

This game is awesome! I don't see any room or need for improvement, and it's one of those games where you could play it over and over again while getting different items and endings. This is definetly one of a few favorite games that I have played on the site. Even though it's a bit old, it's still very good with detail and plot.

The Uber ending was meant to be gained when you use the Spy Ear in the Toys section, but it is broken.
Did the Cool ending before (with the walk*thru) and did now the Lame ending (get the RC car, distract the guard at Tools and Hardware with it and opt to flee).

I loved the complexity of this story, it really is a challenge. Needless to say I completed the 2nd ending on my first try (hehe I'm really proud) but it was a challenge and it made you think. This game ate up about two hours of my life. I figured some stuff out and got pretty far, but then I realized that I didn't want to keep losing everything I had and starting over at such a far point, so I cheated a bit and used a walkthrough.
It's funny, but getting to the "under construction" UberEnding was WAY easier than the Cool Ending...
This was a really well-thought-out game and was fun to play! Too bad it didn't help me get my homework done, though... :/

A fun and funny game!

Good: The story is good and there are many choices to choose from. I liked the radio controlled car and disguise tricks!
Bad: Not enough clues given on how or when to use the items.
Ugly: I spent hours trying things: seemed to have gone everywhere and gotten everything even the Loading Dock location, but none of the other items seemed to do anything and I couldn't figure out how to use them. So I settled for the Lame Ending :(

First of all really terrific game. But i marked this game down for some reasons. I understand why there's useless stuff scattered about, but one thing that irked me was WHYYY you couldn't just keep the terrorist uniform on. seriously, think about it. it would make getting things alot easier. Another thing, I disliked the repition clicking in the end. Keeping the terrorist uniform on would've halte some of that. Also, you should've been able to give the guy the bomb materials right when you guys are planning to make a distraction,. Just having to mindlessly reclick through is not fun. also, minus points for making me click 3 times through the lawn garden place to get the final bomb.really? after all the times you made us go to that place, you're making us sweat MORE for the final bomb? once wouldve been enough.good game thoguh overall, im very impressesed and had alotta fun^_^ Kudos!

There's also a glitch where you can restart with all your goodies to get more by going for another pipe after you already have one, but pretty sure all this stuff is mostly useless anyway :D You don't get doubles, you can just collect, like, all the magazines xD

My mistake in the last comment. You use the SPY EAR on the "Toys" Page, and it can't be done before the Lame Ending, because you need the two quarters for the vending machines at the exit.

This was amazing. I had to use the walkthrough, but I got all three endings! (Although one doesn't work and never will)
The Uber Ending is actually waaaaaaay easier than the cool/great ending (forgot what its called), and can actually be done BEFORE the lame ending. Get the FRS radio and use it in the toy department. That's all.

This game was AWESOME!!! I want the UberEnd now, though. I saw both Lame ends, but I had to use the guide on finishing the normal way :( I had almost all of the items, but couldn't tie it together. Oh, well, it was still so cool. GLITCH: When you are in the plumbing section, if you choose the bottom option (something like "Maybe I'll go do something else..."), you get taken back to the start screen, but with all your items. I used that to use the guide and not have to restart. I loved the game, 10/10, 8/8, whatever, it ruled. I have one complaint: In the normal end, the greeter who gave you your sticker is never found! I fought to save the people, and they get rid of everyones favorite. I literally almost cried when they said the old greeter couldn't be found :(

What an awesome way to kill a couple hours. I must say I am disappointed that the uberending doesn't work, cos I got it, and then had to hit the back button to get the lame ending. how do you get the cool ending? i swear i have every damn item in the WalMart. I'd like to be able to use the porkrinds and swanky suit, too. Sometimes, on Sunday, I like to go to the West Memphis SuperWalMart, which is in Arkansas. It reminds me that the human race has no future. Now I will have elaborate fantasies about terrorists when I feel the need to do some serious shopping. RAWK!

It was so hard awesome game up until I couldn't figure it out, I had to look at the walk through because I didn't get the bomb option until I got canola oil and yeast but I had everything else. I'd loved the game but I got suggesdtions it was too hard,

This was the most clever, complex game I have played on this site. It took me an hour and a half and I still only got the "good" ending, not the Uber. The writing is well done and I love the ability to pick up items and then use them, like old Zork. A lot of items went unused, but perhaps that's because I couldn't find the other ending. I would love to know what I was supposed to do after setting off the pipebomb to get the Uber-ending. The only complaint I have is that once in a while, if stuck, I was forced to run to each location and try using almost every object I had. That may be my fault, however. Oh! I love the fact that the writer knows every detail about every object, every specification and all. Heheheh! Great job..more!!! And thanks for playing mine! :)

Well, I got the okay ending. I REALLY wish I could figure out what all I need to do to get the best. The big thing is that most of the items I found were never used. Oh well. I can see how this game won first prize in that contest!

Hey thatguy! WOW! THIS GAME ROCKS! When finished it has potential definately to be the best game on the site. I think i tried every possible alternative but only got the "lame" ending. so im not sure if i missed something or not!
