Alright it's that time again for this pointless ceremony where one side that doesn't like the other side have their chosen leaders have their final showdown to see who gets to control Freedomland.

Ultimately nothing much will change other than the winners cheering way too much and the losers wailing too much but we've been doing it this way for a long time now and people still seem to cling to ancient traditions for some reason.

It's going to be a long day and night with lots of fee fees running high, so just remember though regardless of what happens, nothing lasts forever and we'll get to do this all over again in another 4 years, so if your team loses they can make a come back next time. The point is don't worry about it too much.

I mean as long as you're either banging red or blue of course. If you belong to any other team, you're fucked and you'll never win. Lol.

Yeah, I mean as entertaining as I find that sort of drama to be at times, I also find the language somewhat inappropriate and concerning for a political candidate to use. The number one emotion that propels people to want to commit genocide or hurt someone beyond in the moment poor impulse control isn’t hate; it’s actually the desire for purification. A kind of  intense craving for a 'clean' or 'pure' society. Youll notice the first step people tend to take to dehumanize other humans is to compare them to bacteria, or pests that need to be exterminated like rats or cockroaches etc. 

Its a well documented psychological phenomenom at this point. Even if Trumps being hyperbolic we know how some of his follows are, and how far down a rabbit hole some of them can and have fell into

 

The only saving grace is that in this country if a president really crosses that dictator line, someone's eventually going to 2nd Amendment him in the face.

Mentioning politics to someone currently listening to a band of communist revolutionaries who consistently tell you to go against the government and create chaos is some crazy work.

I think we should have a government, and each of the positions must be fought for in the ring. Because if my leaders can't fight, then what are they even doing? And we should still get to vote, the two candidates with the most votes have to fight bare knuckle until knockout, no rounds, no breaks, no time-limit. That, is how I would have liked to spend my Tuesday instead of looking at Liberals and Republicans bitch about everything.

I feel like that probably means kamala will win, but I'm not sure. I feel like trumps anti aborrtion stance probably puts off so many women in general. 

Well you might think that, but Hillary had a lead in the polls and won every debate and it didn’t help her with the female voters.

Meanwhile Trump pretty much says any old bullshit and it really doesn’t do much to hurt him. Granted it doesn’t help him much either, but he’s got a solid base of fanatical loyalists. Kamala doesn’t really have that, she’s having to rely more on actually convincing more folks than Trump has cultists.

Kamala probably does have a better chance than Hillary did, but still could go either way.

Win or lose though, this is definitely Trump’s last election year. He’s either going to be a two time loser that might still be going to jail or he’s winning as a two time woman beater.

It's still anybody's race. After all only 277 EC votes out of 540 have been called.

I'm too lazy to see what it looked like in 2016 at the moment when most of the red states were counted and few of the blue states on the west coast were. You'd need to do that to make an accurate comparison.

In particular, WA, OR, and CA have 74 electoral votes. That'd put it at 178 to 173, just by those states that are all but guaranteed to go to Harris.

In all likelihood this is probably going to be decided by two or three states.

I'll say this though: currently Trump has taken a lead in PA. If he takes that state he wins. It's still close enough to go either way, but I think that one decides it.

Could still be a landslide for him in electoral votes, but even then that doesn't mean it wasn't a close election. The popular vote will tell that. Close in twelve states but all twelve go one way says Americans are very close in which one they prefer. To me that means it's close. The electoral college is not a pure democracy, so it doesn't really reflect the actual closeness of the vote. It reflects the WEIGHTING of votes.

A democrat being ahead in Kansas is not something I thought I'd ever see, but we're here. I've got no opinion either way. It's just surprising.

Probably just related to the timing of results being released. If Kansas goes blue it will probably trigger the premature return of Christ.

I know my crowd is not a clear representation of Kansas as a whole, but there's a decent chunk of people who went for Harris this go around. Some of them are people who've been republicans their entire lives (parents of friends). With the exception of the hicks, those in my grade who can vote said they were voting blue.

While I don't know how that reflects across the state, it's surprising for me. Young voter turnout's supposed to be pretty good this year here in our lil wheat field. I realize hicks make up a lot of Kansas, but I wouldn't say it's a majority. So far they're the only ones I've found sold out for Trump. I think my parents would shoot me if I didn't pray for his safe return to presidency, but my closest friend's mom switched up her vote and went against her party affiliation this year. I know she voted Trump for the past two elections, leaves me wondering what changed.

Personally I don't think it'll be a huge difference either way. I will say Harris sure seems to be a lot more polite, if not the brightest.

Part of me wants Harris to pull in Kansas just for the plot.

EDIT: not an entrance exam. SAT scores. But again, the school doesn’t list those for transfers. The chain of reasoning: the school requires a certain SAT for FRESHMEN. Trump transferred there, therefore he had high SAT scores. Never mind the fact that doesn’t apply to transfers and that money talks. The evidence does not support the claim. Only ball licking supports the claim.

Also, he's not a convicted rapist. He's a convicted felon, yes, but that's for falsifying business records. To the best of my knowledge, he's never actually been charged with a sex crime. Again, falsifying records is still a bad thing to do, and should be a disqualifying offense for the presidency.

The fact that "here we go again" and "both candidates suck" are two things almost every American thinks during election year is a problem. It's ridiculous. Even if I had the motivation and self-disciple required to attempt to do anything about it, how would one even start?

So many people would rather sit back and watch something suck than put the work into changing it, as long as they can do so comfortably. Myself included.

For a decade now half the country has been locked into the same news outlets and FB circles, and only getting search results that match their established preferences. The stuff you're saying is not even a factor in that worldview, it's all being packaged and marketed completely differently.

Everyone who doesn't like Trump should be way more concerned about the fact that his cronies got the Senate, anyway. Not sure about the House yet but we might be looking at a fun four years of this all going full throttle. And that's the actual worst case scenario, not Trump himself. It's unreasonable for the left to shit all over a key part of the electorate, and then say they are pieces of shit for not liking it, and then expect for those people to vote for them. Until they get someone who doesn't believe, for example, that a man acting like a man is "toxic masculinity" and until they stop bending over backwards for 1% of the electorate, we'll keep sliding towards fascism.

 

The reality is the US is not ready to go the way of the Den of the Biting Beaver, having their boys pee sitting down and march down the street in drag, gallivanting all over the place. If you want to win the election, you can't put Democrats on the ticket who claim they are gun owners and barely know how to operate their weapon. Kamala picked the most feminine man available for VP. She had a goddamned astronaut and fighter pilot she could have chosen, or a guy who would have gift-wrapped Pennsylvania for her, and instead she picked a cockless grandpa. It's like she sat down with her advisers and said, "White men who voted for Obama have already started hating us, which VP can we choose that will make them hate us more?"

 

The Democrats need someone like Matthew McConaughey to rescue them. Maybe even Jon Stewart, if they can't stomach non-extremism. Either a charismatic moderate, or someone who knows how to talk like a moderate.

I swear being a woman is such a debuff for top leadership positions. Maybe I'm stretching here but I'm sure you could make a statistical analysis of it. Just feels like women are pretty rare at the very top, especially if not Inherited. 

I think it probably has to do with the perception of "strength", Same with being tall. Pretty sure there hasn't been a president under 5'10 in 100 years lol

Or as Jordan Peterson would say, men just work harder and work longer. There's definitely merit to that so it makes these judgements hard to quantity in a study due to how much things would overlap. 

But the height one is way beyond coincidence. Of 46 US presidents 23 have been 6 feet or taller 3 inches plus taller than the average man. While for men 5'6 or below (3 inches plus shorter) only 3 men have been president. That's an insane correlation and goes beyond coincidence

I mean, before he was president, there was some funny shit of him creepily smelling women's hair, but while he's been in office, he hasn't done anything lol worthy that I've been aware of. Granted Trump never stopped doing lol worthy shit but the fact that he wasn't president anymore meant that less people paid attention to it anymore, so I didn't get to hear about it as much.

Happy to bet any amount of money that, if he manages to survive the next four years, he tries to extend his presidency, saying that the eight year limit is extreme leftist propaganda and actually declares himself God Emperor. It will either end with him being physically dragged from the White House or turning America into a legitimate Empire. Neither would surprise me. ^_^

It is nice to be reminded this is a place for chilling, reading and writing (and my productivity may well sky-rocket to blot out reality after this). This thread has made me chuckle and you might even be right, that Trump's election won't lead to some of the horrifying scenarios I've been envisioning befalling the Ukraine and Taiwan after this (perhaps living in China rather than the USA makes worst case scenarios seem a lot more likely to occur). Anyway, it's nice to have a healthy counter-balance from the opposite and more relaxed end of the spectrum. :D

Yeah, that one definitely did end up being an interesting decision by the UK in retrospect. Most British people voted for it just for immigration, lets be honest, but what most British people failed to realise is that most immigrants arent actually illegals, theyre either Asylum seekers who just say theyre gay and in fear of their lives, or that they're actually a christian (most of the time probably lying), and the other immigrants that come to the UK the vast majority do so legally from places like india or hong kong since its super easy for them to come here due to being former colonies, so actually leaving the EU doesn't do shit to stop the main forms of immigration, it was a farce to begin with lol

Even with the immigrants actually coming on the rafts, they cant even get that one right either lol

I'm the inverse.  I think I only know two or three people who are happy with the outcome.  Even several of the Repubs that I know are not happy to have Trump in control again.

My dad put up a Trump 2024 sign back in 2020, and I wasn't joking about some of my other relatives wearing What Would Trump Do bracelets.

But I still have a 90 year old lady who is my closest neighbor, the old black guy I buy BBQ from, and also I guess, a few Jehovah Witnesses who might have political opinions, but they at least will go to Hell if they talk about them.

I definitely hope "nothing will change" is true. As a queer woman it will be depressing if I have to return to the darkness. More importantly, I hope I still don't have to pay on my student loans. And even more importantly, I hope the public library where I work won't feel the effects.
