Player Comments on Ground Zero
First playthrough was quite enjoyable. The choices in Ground Zero are weighted much more than most games, and the copious branching paths have made replaying it irresistible. I love the influences from Fallout and the general plausibility of the story. As for the role we assume at the center of this game, I appreciated the personality itself but longed for more choice in whether to be antisocial or more receptive of others. Overall, Ground Zero is a complete game. It's writing, especially the introduction and various endings, blend a serious tone without sacrificing reader enjoyment. There are just the right amount of questions left unanswered, and this provokes the imagination to complete the tale. More than worthy of everyone's time and appreciation, this is a story game of rare, high quality.

The last time I left a comment on Ground Zero was a very long time ago. At that time I had only played through this storygame once, and whilst I hadn't died immediately, I wasn't exactly close to getting an epilogue. To paraphrase myself in this comment, I said that I would have liked more choice in the protagonist's actions. Looking back, I see that not only was I being unfair, but I didn't understand at all what makes this game great.
Since then, I have played through every page and discovered all the wonder and intrigue this deep, rich world has to offer. As is often the case with EndMaster's stories, it is the characters and plot which are most memorable. It is amazingly satisfying to see how your choices affect not only your own character, but other characters and even the world around you, in believable, really interesting ways. Not only that, but I was treated to a whole giant spider-web of such delicious stories, branching off in many directions, even when you think you've finished it all. Not one of these tales, on any page, did I find boring or dull. All the endings were a fun read and the epilogues provided good closure, with (most of them) giving us a glimpse into the life of your descendants. In this aspect - this incredible use of interactive fiction in its most basic form - Ground Zero is second only to Eternal.
I always find it strange when people complain about the linearity or lack of choices in an EndMaster game. Do they even know what linearity means? This thing branches like a motherfucker; it's anything but linear. I concede that there are less choices insomuch as there are probably less combinations due to lack of variables and scripting, but when you have such story-driven and meaningful choices that completely change the direction of the plot, the choices in Ground Zero are better, I would say. Yes, it means you don't control your character as much, but the protagonist is a (metaphorically) real person with his own opinions, feelings and motives. It allows for a much more complex and fascinating main character than if the player could decide every single little action.
Thank you, EndMaster, for writing such an epic tale that kept me entertained for hours on end. It was one of the first storygames I played on this website and it certainly left a fantastic impression. If it wasn't for Ground Zero, I might not have stuck around on CYS. Thank Dendrin I din't stumble upon Warrior Cats fanfic before reading this beauty.

Very addictive reading/playing, certainly held my interest! I liked the developement of the main character as you make your choices, and the interactions with other characters were always interesting and fun to read. However dialogue could get slightly confusing; there were some points where no indication was made as to who was talking. Also, I felt that we could have had slightly more control over the storyline (one point that sticks out is the vote over who initially became the leader between Ron and Elliot, you could have given the option to actually choose rather than have a default). That aside, I enjoyed the storyline, was totally compelled to keep going to find out how everything worked out for the characters, and will definitely play through again to try all available options. Really good work!

I was honestly surprised that I lived in my first try. The epilogue makes me wish I leave such a legacy when I pass away.

This game is really worth playing and reading. I've been looking for a good chose your own story game and this was one of the top 8, So far. Give it a try, I know you'll like it.
-- Naitve Kid on 4/23/2017 5:37:41 PM
I went through the genocide route, and I feel as the amount of time, effort, and choices made on this game was so high, and insane, I was honestly made. While detail was very nice, I wish in the town of Jim's Reapers, there was a choice to stay, or at least a choice to not go roam the streets like a serial killer. The first part really inspired me for a section in my story I am currently working on. I can say one thing though, this story is anything but linear. I just wish you had a bit more control of the person on the genocide route.
on 4/15/2017 10:15:24 AM
a little bit longer and a 8
-- lob on 4/14/2017 10:07:57 PM
Perhaps the greatest game I have played this far here. Multiple story branches taking you down wildly varied paths, excellent writing, solid but not quite perfect dialog, characters who for the most part act true to their nature and not as plot devices, and more. The background characters show distinct lives and developments which can differ greatly based on what they've experienced through your choices, but tend to stay true to their cores. Humor, tension, a sense of the unknown and choices that don't always have obvious or imediate outcomes. I was never asked to "DODGE" which is a nice plus, although there was some obligatory hamfisted sex which given the setting was excusable. The classic female wish fulfillment device was also present but not over done. This was a solid work and I am glad I took the time to (I think) find all the endings.
on 4/13/2017 12:25:38 AM
Interesting and relatively well written. The sex and relationship components seemed to be the standard teenage wish fulfillment common to sci-fi/fantasy, and par for the course a bit awkward and artificial. They weren't nearly as extreme as many works though, and post apocalyptic fiction almost requires a sexual component, so I didn't find those elements too detrimental. Overall an interesting read with good choices that left me wondering and wanting to find out what came next.

I just read the ending with the AI and must say that I am very impressed, not many story would go this way and I must say that I am very happy this one did. I found the ending very nice and will continue to read the story with different choices (even though this will be probably my favorite ending). You have really created something great with this story and I hope this review shows you how gratefull people are for people like you and your work.

EPIC I finaly got an epiluoge. I managed to join the compaound and turn it into the allience. This is my favorite ending by far, I wonder, what else could happen... if I joined a different side.

I folowed my motto, but again, it failed, it failed me. Next time, I will try to help others. Wait I've already tried that. Now it is time for a change, I've gotten like one "good ending, the one where I win the hack-war, and live with Becky. This time, I'm doing something different.
on 3/11/2017 3:09:17 PM
I've been posting too many comments XD well this happened just the same as the rest. Dead, again. I wont tell what happened. ou have a pretty good guess by now, I'm sure. anyways, here we go again, my quest to get every ending is taking too long. I'll probably take a break.
on 3/11/2017 2:57:53 PM
Well, that was that, I didn't know why, I knew the right path, but perhapes I know I have to find all of them, I left, I feel asleep, I don't wake up, but yet again, I do. I wake up every time, yet nothing I do is remembered, I am a type of time-traveler, seeking every timeline posible, this is going to take longer than I thought.
on 3/11/2017 2:54:40 PM
Suicide, the only way, I shoot myself, nothing else goes through my head. Except this: I know what I must do, Miranda is the enemy, to break the loop, I must stop her, And as I pull the trigger, I am back in bed, back where I started. I sigh and call again, ordering the same shelter, again, this time, I'll get it right-
on 3/11/2017 2:50:38 PM
revenge was certainly not sweet, I fail to realise why I hated Shadow so much, but I do. I tell myself he isn't the real enemy just as many times as I tell myself "i was right". And as I die after my miserable days alone, I remember something. something that will certainly change my next path, I am stuck in this loop untill I suceed to save someone, and that someone is Rockerchick. Then I die, alone, but knowing I will come back untill I suceed.
on 3/11/2017 2:46:14 PM
Something inside me, it begged me not to listen to the logical side of me. Told me not to dare touch rockerchick. I didn't Next time, I won't let this get in my way...I will win, I have no idea why I fight anymore, I thought I would, but I don't. All I know is someone is up to no good. The last thought going through my mind is, someday, someday...I'll have my revenge.-Loser of the hack war
on 3/11/2017 2:41:46 PM
I didn't realise it was more than an AI I thought convincing it would be pointless, I was wrong. I begged it to stop my suffering it killed me. I should've thought it more than a compputer. It got it's revenge. I will trust it with my life, perhapes in another life, I will remember this.-The one who thought a computer was just a computer
on 3/11/2017 2:37:44 PM
I knew it was her. But I was stupid. How could I think she wouldn't catch onto me? Is my last thought as ERROR blinks on my screen. My last that is to hope Becky is safe, and that she will rise above Miranda. In another life, I'll do everything in my power to protect her... I'll chose a different path, and another, and another. Untill, finally, we can be together.-A loser of the love-hack war.
on 3/11/2017 2:33:16 PM
I ended up partying, like there was no tommarow, turns out there wasn't. I finaly got my girl, at least I acheived that in life. I am looking into the horizon, I am at peace with myself. I have acomplished things that may not change the world in these last few days, but have made an impact on myself. I have been a free spirit, for these last few days, and I feel like nothing can shake me. As I look at her for the last time, I wonder if we could've been together had things been different. In an alternative universe, I will chase love.-A free spirit
on 3/11/2017 2:28:52 PM
How stupid was I? I heard the sound, I had no reason for going out. I did, I drove, even... casualy? Idiot, I tell myself, as a bright light blinds me, the last thing I'll ever see. My life, it didn't count for much, I did nothing, nothing but go to work, pretending everything was alright, pretending everything is normal. I died, obviously. In another life, in a parralel universe posibly, I'll remind myself to listen to common sense, and not be so stupid.-The stupid person who thought the world was normal
Hope your liking these, I will get every ending immaginable :D
on 3/11/2017 2:23:38 PM
I was a complete sycopath, my life ended with someone shooting me after hiding in a bunker, his answer was "because you could" But, I know the truth, I did it...because I wanted to survive. I did it because the world was savage and chaotic, and killing seemed the only way. I tried to make it right by helping civalasation unfold again, but I had already created a monster, I was a monster. I'm not sure what I could've become, (other than dead) but I tried my best to survive, and in the end, I failed, in the end I realy just commited suicide. I failed in my quest to live, and created a monster of myself, I lived with a motto, "Never trust anyone" I broke it a few times, and that led me on this path, or maybe following it did. I don't know, I'll never know. I did horible things, and the last thought as I leave this world... "I am a monster, nothing I did really mattered in the long run"... but, perhaps, this is a lie, perhapes my life wasn't pointless, maybe along the line, I did something right, maybe...just, maybe. In another life, I'll follow this motto, I'll see what happens, in a paralel universe, I'll remind myself-The monster I have become
So deep! I love this, I have had many different endings. I'm going to find all of them, and replay the ones I have, leaving deep messages like this :D enjoy, I love stories, reading them and telling them.
on 3/11/2017 2:16:11 PM
FINALY I got aq good ending, I'm on my way to meet becky, I don't know if I'll survive or not, but I hope I will, and I was able to save her, even if I don't.
on 3/11/2017 1:34:52 PM
OMG so much hacking XD I died of hacking so many times...
on 3/11/2017 1:19:07 PM
I partyed like no tommarow, cause there was none... best ending so far, better then getting shot by an angry women after killing a ton of people, or getting eaten by radioactive wolves, or getting stabed after starting a rebelion, wonder if there is an ending where I'll actualy survive XD.
on 3/11/2017 12:53:49 PM
Dang it, second time playing started a rebelion, I'm not sure how I feel about it... I killed Eliot, I don't know if it was a good choice or a bad one, but I also killed his wife, and left his children orphaned, dove the thing into chaos, but if I learned something from my last playthrough, it's dont trust anyone, I trusted the family, they killed me. And so, I hope I saved everyone By killing Eliot, I'll never know...
on 3/11/2017 12:48:31 PM
*sigh* trying to do the right thing always gets you killed. But it is realistic. Also, I like last-minute discicions, and would like more choices.

Inspires me to get back into the fallout world, too bad you can't play as a mutant or start in a vault in Fallout NW. I do feel like there could be more side stories, branches that come back to the main story-line instead of the many 'dead ends.' Thanks for the GREAT read!
-- David on 1/27/2017 12:26:41 PM
This choose your own adventure story is probably the best I've seen in years. I appreciate that you went very in depth. I especially like the fact that you didn't hold back on the adult subject matter. Great job.

This story won me over in a way I never expected. In most CYOA games, I got through by placing myself in the character's shoes and making the choices I would. I found that to be a wholly unfulfilling experience with this game because the character wasn't much like me at all. I stopped thinking "Can't win them all."
Then for some unexplainable reason I decided to give it another try. That's when it hit me. This story isn't amazing because it relates to you. This is a story that you as the reader get to tweak. The author wrote a compelling story with compelling characters and gave you as the reader the option to "what if" at any given number of points. Bravo for making a story truly interactive as a reader.

This is so far the best gamebook I have played. Its vastly superior to all the ones that are on the appstore that I have tried for free or paid for. My favourite storyline is hands down the Dominion one. I encourage the author to introduce more literary (read some classics like Dorian´s Gray Portrait) and RPG complexity (stats, percentage of morality or karma system, perks and items) in this or upcoming creations and start asking for money. I´d pay.

This was the first story I read on the site, and its really cultivated both my interest and curiosity in this type of storytelling.
Endmaster has done an excellent job in character development. Even on the different multitude of arms of this adventure the character is still true to his own nature. I really liked that. By allowing the character to die, he is able to avoid horrible character changing deus ex machina scenarios that drive us all crazy.
I've made an account here after this experience and am excited to do more reading and recreation on this site.
Thank you for sharing your literary talents with us.

Ground Zero is inventive, exciting, unpredictable, well-characterized, thought-provoking, and entertaining. I would give it 9.5/10 if not for one thing: The GODAWFUL ENGLISH. Incorrect word use, run-on sentences, changing tenses, redundancy, bad punctuation, and clunky wording distract and detract from almost every page. I admit I'm a grammar Nazi, but this story looks like the author did no proofreading whatsoever. (I mean, come on, at least keep the characters' names straight. Is it Jack or Jake?) It's a shame this wasn't edited properly (or possibly at all) because it could be a rough draft of something great.

Gosh, Where do I start? The mutant campaign is definitely the best ending. It raises real questions of morality. Are the mutants wrong for conquering the humans? They obviously have a superior society, but that's the same argument that the British used to commit numerous genocides.
The question that is never answered is: are humans biologically more predisposed to violence then their mutant counterparts?
I wish that a peaceful solution could be established, but honestly I don't know how that could happen. Weighing the collapse of your civilization in one hand and the destruction of another sentient species in another is a moralistic choice that I'm not prepared to make.
But I suppose I'm prejudice. If I were facing an army of aggressive, manipulative, and inventive mutants who were hell bent on exterminating me I would probably kill them. I would at least try diplomacy first though.
I just wish that my mutant family wasn't so unstable. With their support I could probably make peace work. What the heck does my wife have against humans anyway?

Great story and a good length. I like the "fallout" style setting and the good amount of morality choices throughout the story. The writing is amazing and detailed as usual from Endmaster.

What? Nuclear war always breaks out no matter what you do.
on 10/4/2016 7:17:55 PM
It's a nice story it just doesn't really make sense how different paths mean different events happening in the world. Like if I take the shelter, the bomb actually didn't go off. If I go to the hospital, the bomb then goes off.

This was my first story on this site and I found it very enjoyable, I love the variety and the writing is brilliant, the scenarios in the community shelter are very believable and it's very fulfilling to live a long happy life. This story covers a range of emotions and I felt for and with and for the characters. 8/8 all around, brilliant start for new 'players'.

My second favourite is we go outside the shelter and she is killed. But I escape with great supplies and her memory chip. There are also other great endings!

I've recently started playing a popular and well-known role playing adventure game with a group of friends, and in between campaigns, I find myself fiending for adventure! That's how I've come to where I am now -- stumbling upon this website, and choosing Ground Zero as my first choose-your-own-story sort of dealie. I'm not really sure what to expect from these, so please only take my comments with a grain of salt.
I love cussing. I swear (pun intended), it releases endorphin's when I swear -- it must. Cussing feels great. However, I'm not a huge fan with the over usage of it. Or, at least, swearing that isn't in the right place and time. At times, I felt uncomfortable with how awkward the swearing was at times in Ground Zero. Sometimes, it was totally permissible, but at most points I felt some cringes surfacing up. This is really only my biggest complaint with this adventure.
Suffice it to say, I was thoroughly entertained. I've read through – played through, what have you – twice now and plan to do so again after finishing up these comments. I'm a huge fan of the post-apocalyptic genre, so Ground Zero is fun and thought through well.
on 7/24/2016 4:14:22 PM
Too many built in assumptions of what you do, not enough actual choice. The writing was good, though.
on 7/24/2016 1:17:50 AM

This clearly had a shit ton of work put into it. Great story, great characters, and a great plot. It made me laugh, which no other stories here have (I am fairly new, though)
With lots of intense parts, which kept me on the edge of my seat, and realistic dialogue, this is probably the best "storygame" I've read!

I'm disappointed that human beings are so predictable. I'd hoped that I'd continue gaining resources first by killing the couple then by winning the trust of the family so we could look out for each other. I would've liked an option to let the family stay and formed a group. To be fair I got what was coming to me. Makes me wonder if bill would've changed his mind.
-- Dan Beirne on 6/19/2016 7:15:07 PM

I ended up going through 2 endings (the sex bot one and the new haven one) Bravo to you if theres more.. But wow I enjoyed it. After playing your Bard and Necromancer ones years ago, I was pleased of how dam GOOD this was
-- Andrew on 6/10/2016 3:47:28 AM
I personally felt the protagonist was lacking in choice as in he didn't have many options or actions to choose from and that it was too short (unless I'm just ignorant or something because I only played through it once but I didn't really get an epilogue I was expecting (unless it wasn't an epilogue at all) I kinda just left the shelter and... Boom the end, but then again it has a large amount of potential it just needs some more work/content put into it and interesting topic by the way good choice.)

Oh my god, this story has given me so many feelings. I've made it my goal to get every ending. In my opinion, I felt the happiest when I stayed in the shelter with the lady as a robot. It made me glad to see how this guy was able to live an almost perfect life. I was also very proud after setting up the community shelter community and the compound community. This story is absolutely amazing and I love it!
-- Daniel Greenfielde on 5/31/2016 3:47:48 AM
I played the the game twice and about 3 hours later I reached two epilogues. One was the Eliza Epilogue, and the other was the Empress Hera Epilogue. I absolutely LOVED this game! The possibilities ranged from being brutal dictator of Cinderville, to falling in love with a robot.

Very well put together. It was engaging and immersive. I do think there could've been more options because the story felt quite linear. It was black and white in terms of which choices would kill you and which choices would lead to your survival. However, I am very satisfied with the 75mins that I pumped into this. Although I died, I feel I am doing the story justice by not returning to find a better ending.

Wow! Excellent writing! This is my second go through and I tried a different story arched and I'm so impressed at how different it is from the other sorry arch I did and how emotionally attached I got and how creative it is! Can't wait to read it again!

Very enjoyable! Obviously a lot of time and effort was made to produce this story as it is very in depth and has many possible diverse storylines to follow. This is the first 'choose your story' that I've read and am pleasantly surprised by the quality. Apart from the foul language (overused IMHO), and the completely psychopathic path one can follow (which allow for a disturbing, extremely sadistic, violent choices and storyline), this story is very entertaining and well written.
-- Alex on 3/9/2016 9:15:08 AM
I really loved the games, it made e question my own decision so often I myslef started to get nervous in certain situations.
I loved the idea with the the rpivate shelters but now I want to know what happens if I go into a community shelter.
Thanks so much for the fun!

I love the setting of the story, and will definitely play it some more, it's just that the swearing and the many typos kinda ruin it for me from time to time.. But that's nitpicking. While I'm anything but anti-swearing, it just seems a bit too much here, but maybe that's because I'm European :P
on 3/3/2016 7:25:24 AM
Controlled the combine and got another epoilogue! It took AGES though >.< Longer than the 50 year lurking in my shelter epoilogue!
on 3/1/2016 5:52:00 PM
For starters, this story made me cry. It was a gigantic emotional roller coaster! Every word was placed perfectly, and thought through quite well! When writing, one of the hardest things to do is create dialogue that doesn't ruin the story, and the author managed to do just that.
This was my second time playing this game, and I spent maybe 2 hours on it before I got one of the 4 endings. (Ending #2, I believe) In the beginning, you may feel as if it is a waste of time, but this story is the best I have played in a while. I just LOVE the character development in this game! It definitely added the final touch!

A good story, albeit a little short. The author is pretty good at writing, but the choices are a little too obvious, as long as you play the moralfag you'll mostly likely get a good ending
-- BoredUser on 2/4/2016 4:02:23 AM
Stay in the shelter and you'll get the feels. I'd rate 10/10 (already rated 8/8)
-- Ferrous Oxide on 2/1/2016 2:46:30 PM
I love the endings and the choices are certainly easy to understand. At points I didn't understand by what choices meant as in "stay put" didn't mean follow orders temporarily, but rather forever.
One of the best.
-- Jace on 1/26/2016 1:33:29 AM
My god, i got the 150 years later community shelter ending, and the story was amazing, plus i got an epilouge!
-- Ethiano on 1/25/2016 2:15:10 PM
Second time I've gotten an epilogue, but the first I've been logged in to leave my thoughts on it.
Ground Zero is a good read. Like most of Endmaster's stories it offers several entirely different, but equally enjoyable main paths rooted in the same setting. At the end it just feels as though you've finished a good book. The beauty of CYS is that the first end of a good work is just the beginning of the enjoyment you can get out of it. If you haven't read this, or any of the other great stories on the site I'd recommend you get started.
Thank you Endmaster for your excellent storytelling, and world building. I probably haven't said anything that hasn't been said a million times before, but it's no less true.
on 1/25/2016 8:50:42 AM
The first time I died in about five minutes. Reached the epilogue the second play through! A lot of fun.

The story's good, but I was shortchanged a bit, I thought it would go on longer like the 'dead man walking' stoyline. The writing's serviceable, the dialogue is sharp and witty. The protagonist is a bit of a jerk though, albeit a lovable one.

on 1/10/2016 10:34:57 PM
Wow this story is great! First time I played it I got an epilogue, and man I was proud of that. I loved the story, and I felt like the pros and cons were very well balanced. If something bad happens, you can almost be sure that something good comes with it. I think the best way to play these games is to stick with your decisions no matter how bad it may seem. A couple times I went back because I chose a decision that didn't agree with my gut, but for the most time my instincts proved correct. Just do what you believe to be right and it'll work out ok.
-- Reelru on 1/10/2016 7:12:13 PM
It's good. There are quite a few different story lines you can experience, which make your choices (especially in the beginning) seem really meaningful. It's definitely worthwhile playing through this a couple times to read the other stories.
However, for a game so focused on writing, there are quite a few grammatical errors, even a few spelling ones. The syntax is often rather clunky too, and there are many cases of run-on sentences and improper punctuation. A lot of the dialogue feels a little awkward as well at times, though it's not the worst. Proofreading and fixing these errors would be what changes my rating of this from a 6/8 to an 8/8.
on 1/10/2016 2:36:27 AM
HAD to replay and see all of the different endings. Great storytelling, and decisions mattered. I've spent quite some time playing this and trying for all the endings, and I can confidently say I've enjoyed every second!

-- Kevin on 12/18/2015 1:38:31 AM
Brought tears to my eyes at times. A wonderful, compelling story where your choices make a huge difference in the ending. Loved it, loved the characters, but had to admit I was extremely sad as my protagonist grew alone once more as his wife and the people he grew old with died off.
A wonderful piece of art. If anything, I think it could even be expanded upon to include more story and more decision making to effect the potential outcomes.
-- Wolffe on 12/17/2015 6:17:18 PM

I've only taken one route so far, the Experimental Shelter route, and I'm just a little surprised at where it ended. It seemed prime for another "arc" so to speak where you journey to the other shelter, and I was just a little let down that it didn't continue. However, I know there is MUCH more to experience, and will surly check back later to see what else this story has to offer.

Thank you for making it obvious that I suck at decision making. I think that out of all the times I could have died, I died in about 80% of them.
-- Joseph on 12/8/2015 5:23:31 AM
I've never wanted to replay a storygame as many times as I have this one. Usually I'm content finding one 'good' ending, but this one changes so dramatically based on what you do at certain points (mostly the beginning) and yet easter eggs the paths that could have been taken so well that it's hard to just stop playing it through to the various Epilogue Endings.

-- Gage Brady on 12/1/2015 1:02:43 AM
For some reason, I always get what I imagine to be the worst/most gruesome ending whenever I play one of your games. For example, on this one, I ended up dying in a bunker, which I was trapped in, after living a life of putting skulls on stakes, raping women, killing children, joining gangs, and then killing leader of said gang. At least, I think that's how it went. I spent hours getting other endings. Can't remember which game it was I ended up shooting up the school in. Anyway, great game. I played it for hours, because I wanted to see how many endings I could find.
-- Anonymous on 11/28/2015 5:19:43 PM

This is one of the best games that I have ever played. Every choice has a consequence and can lead you down a new path. Like Bethesda said that "player freedom remains our number one goal." You have done exactly that, and for that I bow to you.

I've played Ground Zero many times since I first discovered it last year. I had never realized this whole other story was here; so far i've played both Shelter stories (Community and private)and once on the surface as the crazed maniac. I am somewhat new to choose your own story books, but this is one of the most amazing experiences in reading I have ever had, I loved the book so much I took up the task of trying out every single ending (which is insanely worth it). This story made me think "what a stupid death" at sometimes, yet many ones made me want to cry out of either joy or sadness (all in a good way). To put it simply this story has amazed me and would recommend it to anyone who can read (except for maybe younger kids due to heavier topics). :'):'):'):'):')

It's a very interesting concept and I definitely felt sympathy for the characters and wanted to make the right decision. The one problem was the text felt a little dense.

An amazing story to get involved and connected with.
-- Hastil on 8/10/2015 5:10:50 PM
This is a very well done choose your own adventure, I know it takes a lot of effot with all the outcomes but you could have had a bit more options but with less text, But still this was a very well down book.
-- Louis on 8/8/2015 11:11:37 PM
I like it, its interesting and I feel that you should keep going on with doing stories like this. You do you.

Quite nice. First story I've read on this site, but a great read.
-- Terry on 8/3/2015 10:18:02 PM
Its a fantastic experience, whether it ends after 5 minutes or half an hour. But the true greatness of the game is were you get to see your legacy, the effect you've had on this whole new world.
-- Adam on 7/25/2015 4:51:17 PM
This is an amazing and well thought story that everyone should check out! The plot is well thought out, and there is a nice mix of story and choices throughout the entire thing

Officially read all of your stories on the site, I even read the other two you mentioned though I couldn't finiah the one because my Internet kept making me restart. I found all four epilogues and, even after trying, I can't say one's better than the other, they're all good.

Lots of fun. Good story. Happy ending.

I have resd through towards the first good ending. I really rnjoyed it! I felt immersed in thr universe, and the epilogue fits my personality well. Thanks for this amazing story
-- Gareth on 6/28/2015 1:41:10 AM
This is a really great story and I have only done two of the endings. Unlike most stories which have long text that you can skim. This one it is well written to the point that if you skim you can barely scratch the surface of the phenomenal story.

Great game, it really shows how every little decision can have a huge effect on the outcome. It was well put together. I reached a ton of endings, some I couldn't classify as good or bad. A nice way to open up your mind on a rainy day.

Great read, really felt like the story was rational and that the options I chose reacted with the plot in a serious and realistic way. I loved the characters and felt that they were just as relateable as the protagonist. Hope to continue the awesome stories on this website (this is my first comment!).

First Endmaster read I'd made, and I must say I loved it! Ground Zero was just so surreal and visual for me that I couldn't help but go back and read it again! I should probably go read some more stories now...
Seriously though, Ground Zero is NOT to be overlooked. I would consider a CYS classic, even! Not that we have those but that doesn't matter. :P
on 5/22/2015 6:50:52 AM
I got out of the shelter.
on 5/20/2015 1:34:21 PM
The first time through, I got one of the short endings. Then I figured I'd go back and try again.
I've been reading this over and over all morning, trying to find the different endings and loving every second. This has been a truly unique experience, very well-written and engrossing, but realistic in many minor ways.
on 5/19/2015 5:02:25 AM
This was a fantastically made story, and I can't wait to try things another way. Definitely very intense, at least as far as the two paths I've tried so far.
Helps capture the frightening feeling of a world on the brink of collapse, which is very impressive
-- Bs on 5/19/2015 4:22:39 AM
Pretty stellar CYOA; well-fleshed story archs and a dark personality to boot, definitely made with a lot of care.
The writing and grammar won't make you shed tears, but it's still good enough to the point where it'll get genuine emotional responses from you - and it does a great job of setting the stage for whatever mood it wants to get across.
My one complaint is that the protagonist is an absolute ass in almost every rendition, and a totally anti-social one at that: definitely felt a bit distanced, as a gay male, over the lack of choice as far as some of the story archs took towards the protagonist making relationships with female characters or treating gay characters in the story. I would've appreciated some choice on not being a passive-aggressive, condescending dick to people in general conversation too: you can't really get around it.
Aside from that, a fairly-stellar experience that had me going back to see all the different endings. Great work!
-- Wolf In Arms on 5/18/2015 5:12:32 AM

-- Dead Man on 5/9/2015 6:57:34 PM

on 5/6/2015 8:25:11 AM
I feel like the narrative could've been broken into more individual pieces so that there's more room for choice and to avoid overloading the reader with text. Otherwise, a reasonable game with some interesting characters in a familiar premise.
-- khang on 5/1/2015 4:45:02 PM
Great experience. I'd of liked to meet Becky though.

Brilliant. Detailed. Really plays on some common fears of the end of the world. Reminiscent of Fallout and other apocalyptic games/films/books.
I lived 10 years, but it came to a depressing end... About to try again and hope for something a little happier. Wonderful story and characters. I was there for a moment.
10/10, would play again.

-- Randy bucket on 3/24/2015 7:43:42 PM
This was an awesome game! I spent several hours exploring the different paths, and eventually reaching the epilogue was exciting. All in all, the story was well written no matter what decisions you made, and wasn't one of those games that only felt complete if you followed the intended path. One note: I don't believe the game warranted an 8/8 rating for length; Maybe more like a 6.
on 3/22/2015 2:45:44 PM
beautifully deep story....or would I say game?
It can start as a choose your own path book, but then it becomes deeper, a whole lot deeper. It throws you into a moral pit and expects you to come back up, you'll find yourself living in vaults, engaging in diplomacy, establishing cities, fighting for your life and barely struggling to survive, or becoming a tyrant....the possibilities are endless
But then, you could suddenly die due to your stupidity, your choices also affect the personality of your character.

EndMaster, you are honestly one of the greatest story-tellers on the planet. On par with Stephen King and Harper Lee. Although Ground Zero could use a little proof-reading (typos could sometimes interfere with the atmosphere of the tale), the main idea and story-line is one of the best ones I've read in a long time. Thank you, kind sir, for bestowing upon us this gift.

-- RJ on 2/26/2015 6:10:33 AM
I find the story kind of depressing. I mean, when you have to make important decisions (ex: Picking Elliot or Ron) you can't pick, just able to pick if you vote or not. What the hell? Many storylines lead to death of you, and thats kinda sad. Good game, though, either way.
on 2/23/2015 11:17:50 AM
Perfect Game! Lol it's kinda unrealistic for the viruses but for other reasons it's awesome! Like the different endings, as you die 75% of the time. Plays around with your brain as well like if you play to get all endings... You die, you find your last friend and you die you die you die die die die party and die. Perfect crude humor included as well. Nice job on that as well as the derpy photos

-- Alex on 2/8/2015 6:38:58 AM
This book is full of bad words and is too inappropriate.
-- Margaret on 2/6/2015 7:34:57 PM
The text was well written and the story made sense, but some of the choices were boring. For example, when going to the survival shelter, I could decide whether I wanted to vote or not, but couldn't choose who I wanted to vote for. I suppose in the long run this wouldn't have affected the story, but it would have been more fun and I would have felt like I made more of an impact, even if I technically wouldn't have. Finally, I absolutely loathe how, despite the fact I was supposed to be playing myself, was forced to be a complete asshole, even though that doesn't describe me, at all.
-- Corwin on 2/5/2015 8:23:20 AM

very expansive game, can't wait to find all the endings, the main characters personality was a little off putting however, sort of like an antihero, it all mixed together quite well, died with nina and jack after choosing to stay and fight

The book was awesome. I am left with no words. Its amazing. Like wow.
-- Melvin Wolf on 1/19/2015 2:25:42 PM
THe story was good, but choosing to stay in your room will win, there was no real twist, I feel that there should have been a punishment for doing nothing.
on 1/16/2015 8:48:02 PM
I loved it! Great plot, etc. I gave this an 8.
on 1/16/2015 8:09:22 AM
I spent hours playing this game but it was worth it.
-- Mac on 1/16/2015 5:22:32 AM
150 years later, the world has changed.
But war? War never changes.
Story was pretty amazing. Well done! Definitely recommend, especially as a Fallout fan myself.
-- Abbendis on 1/13/2015 9:50:52 AM
This was some deep emotional stuff. An excellent read. Thanks for the hours spent with Ground Zero
-- Steve on 1/8/2015 7:22:17 PM
This was meaningful, massive, deep, how much can you say about a Fallout-like story. It's a story that actually makes me feel complete but also sad when the character finishes the Community Vault in the good ending after many years, it made me want to salute the frikkin'character even if Nina died and he had to...you might say that the story had so much choices and meanings that it made me feel deep and reflective... GREAT JOB!!!
on 1/8/2015 2:54:26 AM
I fucked kate then died, hell yea!
-- Billy Bob FuckFace on 1/5/2015 9:23:29 PM
I got so into this story. But the cliff hanger with your character not knowing what awaits him on his trip to find becky just made me want more. please make a part 2
-- Swag dog on 1/4/2015 2:39:18 PM
The story definitely seems to be interesting but as is a problem with characters in many books (or it may just be because of events during time skips) they do seem to act very slightly cheesy sometimes, but other wise the story is quite good. (The rating is because the story progresses a tad to fast and I sometimes find my eyes skipping over a few lines, and having zero clue whats going on, not really the authors fault, but something that could be improved.)
-- Alea on 1/3/2015 8:24:04 PM
This was amazing it was really cool the end i got when New Haven was built and was still being built when it ended with zachary. It took me a few tries for example i died and so did everyone but in the last 1 i lived a full life and New Haven lived on
-- Calza on 1/3/2015 1:50:01 AM
This is a really beautiful story, you get to see the evolution of your character. 10 out of 10
on 1/2/2015 2:17:27 PM
I have to say: this game at the start maybe seems that your character is an asshole but give the choices you make he will change (in a good or bad way) overall the game is eggselent :D
on 12/31/2014 2:18:23 AM
That story was beautiful, i love how u wrapped things and unlike other stories u genuinely took ur time. So thanks for that cool experience!

this is a work of art.
-- cesar on 12/27/2014 8:50:19 PM
This comment is rated T for true, as anyone who hates this story is a neanderthal. This is the best fucking story on the site (Next to Homo Perfectus 8) and all you neanderthals that think this is "Too long" or that this is "Boring" or that it's "Bad" are fucking idiots. "needs a sequel" says one of the comments, well this is a fucking EndMaster story, it doesn't need a sequel. So all you degenerates who think this is bad are neanderthals and are incredibley stupid. Dumb retarded neanderthals.
on 12/24/2014 11:19:18 PM
eh it was ok, don't think people immediately jump to killing someone for supplies so that was slightly exaggerated

-- Brendan Harris on 12/13/2014 12:17:14 PM
Thank you for providing this interactive story. I have only played through once. It was interesting to me that playing it safe resulted in a bad outcome, so much like what led to the crisis to begin with. Kudos.
-- J. Baker on 12/12/2014 3:50:08 PM
This was really good! I would of liked to have seen a longer ending in which you travel to Becky's place (but then again the whole romance thing was kinda' creepy) and I would of also liked to have more control during the battle with the cat lady. Overall I really enjoyed it.
-- Chrisbo99 on 12/11/2014 5:46:52 PM
Really enjoyed both the purchasing of the shelter and the "going it on your own" I loved the AI involvement and the twist of Miranda hacking the systems instead of Shadow.

-- Jesse on 11/19/2014 11:49:19 PM
Okay, I've dumped a repulsive amount of time into this game getting every ending.

Probably the best CYOA book/game I have had the pleasure of entertaining myself with. Followed every path there was... and oddly enough, the last path I was left with got me all the way to the end. I'm sort of glad it ended that way. Excellent work on this.
-- Kamakani on 11/6/2014 1:27:21 PM
it was an extrordinary game, but I did feel kind of forced into doing shit, and the fact that there was only two options for all the reading done was sort of dumb, but a good story and great game over all
-- ryan on 11/6/2014 3:47:00 AM
This is a must play.
-- Ludvig on 11/5/2014 9:10:50 AM

Cool story bro.
Seriously though, it was a good story, though the incessant cussing is sort of a turnoff.
on 10/25/2014 1:46:18 AM
I began this story with the idea of it being a traditional post-apocalyptic story. Not at all, such a wonderful adventure and I truly felt involved and felt myself taking a little while longer to choose my next action. I loved every minute of it!

-- Anthony on 10/14/2014 5:12:14 AM
Too many bad words. But excellent story otherwise!
-- Me on 10/11/2014 8:58:22 PM
Very nicely written and atmospheric. Great development in character through interactions with other well-created characters as well. The paths are very different so it's got a great replay value and the endings are fleshed out so they're not sudden, but rather satisfying. A definite must-play which left me wondering about what I'd do in the case of a nuclear war or apocalypse.
on 10/8/2014 9:53:01 PM
Overall, good story. Lots of run-on sentences though!
-- Vic on 10/7/2014 1:11:09 AM

Ill be honest, i like it. but there is a bit to much reading for my liking
-- Kyle on 10/5/2014 2:51:11 PM
Very well done with a lot of different story arcs depending on your choices. Dialogue is a little stilted at times and the F bomb is overused but these are very minor complaints.
-- Alex on 10/2/2014 11:03:06 AM
i was hopeing to explore the world in this but Miranda hacked me.
-- eddy on 9/28/2014 12:19:25 AM
The writing style is certainly... Interesting.
-- Anonymous on 9/27/2014 3:36:55 PM
I'm not sure why you think I'm pissed off at you Corvo.
Unless you're talking about listing hints, which doesn't mean anything to me since it isn't the first time somebody has done it in the comments section, in fact I've done it myself a few times for this very story.
on 9/27/2014 2:35:16 PM
I just got the other 3 epilogues. 'Epilogue 1' really surprised me. Completely based off of romance. Nice.
Btw, I'm gonna give a hint.
'Epilogue 4' is attained by going to the city.
'Epilogue 3' is attained by going to work.
'Epilogue 2' is attained by going to the community shelter.
And 'Epilogue 1' is attained by going to the special shelter.
I'm sorry, Endmaster, if I pissed you off, but I had a pretty damn hard time getting 'Epilogue 1', so I just wanted to throw some hints out there.
on 9/27/2014 12:57:56 PM
After I read Necromancer (Which, in my opinion, is the best story-game here), I was rather... Skeptical about this story, seeing as how Necromancer had you delve in-to the realistic characters and feel proud when you successfully changed the surroundings around you... Save, this was like in opposite order. The epic scale was also there, and it had me waste 4 hours just to get to the 'Epilogue 3'. I still haven't played the others epilogues, but my god.
As far as I could see, there were hardly ANY grammatical, or spelling errors. There was only, on average, one error per 2 pages, which I'd say is about 1 in every thousand words. Pretty damn impressive.
You also have things that simply pop out, and surprise you in various ways. Such as... Nah, I'm not gonna spoil it, but there were a couple things in there that got me, in the 'Epilogue 3' path alone.
Over-all, 8/8, would buy this on the iTunes store. You should try it, bro. And, now that I've tasted the great flavor this story had to offer, I'm gonna check some others... Hope they're just as epic.

-- shayan on 9/20/2014 12:54:17 PM
I really enjoyed this!! I loved the fallout theme and it also sort of had a walking dead / road warrior feel as well. Very good. Would love to see the story continued further!!!!!!!
-- Michael on 9/17/2014 11:36:05 PM
Totally love the story... my character finally resting in the end always bring a tear in my eyes
-- jacob on 9/17/2014 9:06:16 AM
I think the writing was fantastic, and the variety of choices and the extremely varying paths the story can take took a lot of work, I can tell. My only gripe is the main character. It seems like (at least in the routes I played through) he's a massive asshole, even where he has no cause to be. And I have no problem with swearing in stories; I've used it in plenty of my own, but I feel like there was a swear every other sentence in this story, which for me, is pushing it a bit, almost to the point of disturbance. But that's my only gripe. The positives far outweigh the negatives in this story, so fantastic job.
on 9/16/2014 7:38:17 PM
one word, terrific
-- josh on 9/16/2014 3:57:34 PM
This is great. Very reminiscent of Fallout. I don't think it needs to be 7/8, however. I didn't see any explicit sex, or overly gory violence.

Well... I just got eaten by barbarians after GLaDOS kicked me out of a bomb shelter so... that was pretty cool.
on 9/8/2014 9:37:26 PM
Interesting story. The main character's set and self-serving personality was both appropriate and different. As usual, now that I've found one epilogue, I'll have to return to the apocalypse to find the others-the mark of a talented author and solid writing. Well done! Thanks!
on 9/8/2014 4:39:31 PM
got about 3 choices in before the main character raped a girl. oh, but don't worry, she ended up "liking it." i don't care that it's fictional, there's really no situation where that line of thinking is acceptable. no thanks. excuse me while i vomit all over the writer's delusions. can't fathom why this is one of the sites top stories
on 9/7/2014 12:44:56 AM
Could have been expanded... I especially want to know what happens after I leave the shelter. Also, did the main character have to be so rude?
on 9/6/2014 12:38:28 PM

on 8/31/2014 7:46:40 PM
Wow...absolutely brilliant. Just wow. Five post-apocalyptic survivors, conversing purely by internet? What a brilliant recipe. Love the ending where (spoiler!) you leave your shelter to try and find RockerChick20.
on 8/30/2014 6:34:50 PM
definitely harder than I expected but it was good, except for the fact that the character is a complete asshole

A great adventure, and with so many well written paths that intertwine its hard not to become engrossed. If you have played once you will want to do it again, because it only gets better each time. My thanks to EndMaster for taking the time to create this rich playground and the staff at chooseyourstory.com for makeing this posable.

I have gotten all the epilogs so I can lay this game to rest
on 8/21/2014 7:13:01 AM
*This comment may contain spoilers* (it does) Wow, once again another great written story but I felt the whole lone wolf theme ruined some potential choices but other than that no complaints. I believe my favorite ending was becoming the mutant emperor with the great legacy and all.

good options but sometimes not enough information about the surrounding things, (for example how many man/soldiers/mutants) or the fact that you live in the city!
but that might just be me since i grew up in a small town.

Incredible game and wonderfully told narrative that keeps you going up until the very end, very sweet in parts and very sentimental in others I thoroughly enjoyed my experience playing this game I would love to see more games like this.
-- Brandon Sands on 8/4/2014 9:23:13 PM
I liked the multiple endings for the choices you made at the beginning. It could have used a lot more choices though-there was a lot of text and not as much actions you could do (being in the shelter opened slightly more choices.)

on 6/1/2014 4:31:06 PM
After an hour and 24 minutes, many restarts and "damn, wrong choice!" moments. I finally reached the best ending. (I think)
All I'm going to say is that this was a fucking fantastic adventure.

Interesting characters. I tried guessing what would happen next. Good story.

Wow. This is amazing. I started 5 hours ago. I just got all of the endings. I loved it. A few minor spelling mistakes, but it didn't diminish the experience at all.

One of my favorite stories on the site. Great job.
on 5/24/2014 9:58:44 PM
Great game! Most of it was very very gripping and kept me interested in the story. I did notice some miss spells but not too much. Harry may have personally annoyed me but that may have been what you were going for with his character. By the way, I really enjoyed the special shelter story line. It was simply fantastic. I loved how the characters were living in seperate areas and talked through some sort of chat room. It was very interesting and cool! Just like this game.
on 5/22/2014 1:17:44 AM
Very nice story, it very much felt as though I was truly there and
Even had me feeling guilty at times. (Ok not that big of a spoiler) I wish it had been a bit longer, but perhaps I just got a shorter ending.
-- Rickles on 5/19/2014 9:13:50 PM
This was a wonderfully written story!!! It took me a while to find an epilogue, but I liked the other endings as well.

-- wriju on 5/10/2014 6:16:39 AM
Another great game from Endmaster. Very detailed. Plenty of "true" endings...just kinda wish you could've had that threesome. JK. 8/8
on 5/9/2014 11:49:43 PM
Absolutely loved the ending! The environment and atmosphere described through some of the many choices (a lot which don't lead to a dead end, which I in general hate) really gives off the whole apocalyptic/new world theme. I recommend this to ALL who love long-lasting stories/games. And to you endmaster, you did yet another great story! (Keep the work up!)
on 5/8/2014 11:23:30 PM
Really good game! There are many endings, much more detailed than other stories. The author really spent time on this story. No wonder its on the front page! I would give this 10/10!
on 5/7/2014 3:46:22 AM
Really good I felt really proud at the end when Sirus was speaking in the bar! Amazing
-- Wilko on 5/2/2014 5:31:44 PM
ye have an amazing game here! the "chat room" speech should've been spaced out between each person's individual comments to make it easier to read & easier on the person's eyes, & it would certainly help to get the choice of which options to take into the special shelter & to have an armory in it with the choice of what to take from it if going outside (& this can also lead to advancing the storyline beyond the shelter), & it would've been better to have more in depth interactions (& quantity of them) between the other "chat room" people. other than this, AMAZING storyline & after I finished it felt like a great accomplishment & having the feeling of just finishing a long epic story that spans lifetimes in a small story (very few can make a story that becomes epic & this certainly has become such).
-- James L. Taylor on 4/30/2014 10:29:31 PM
It was to long to read so I didn't and I just clicked on random things but then I felt bad and gave you an ok reading and it did want to leave my email. Also it was a cool web site but I saw better and I also saw worst so it was ok that's why I gave you an ok rate a four
-- Fleeb on 4/30/2014 1:51:58 PM
Amazing! By far one of the very best story games on the site.
-- MeisterGull on 4/30/2014 10:18:18 AM
Great Game/Story! The daughter and father bit was pretty surprising and cool at the same. :) 10/10
on 4/29/2014 9:17:59 AM
It was everything I expected and more, a true masterpiece where none of your choices can be said to be "bad". Dual morality, interesting character development, great touches of realism, and a glimpse at human nature. The only "bad" thing about it would be typos, but it still did not stop me from enjoying myself for about a couple of hours now. I'd be happy to help fix those spelling mistakes to make this story the best it can be

Almost every scene has him dying...
-- lol on 4/3/2014 8:27:18 PM
The fuck was this. Terrible, pathetic, horrible waste of time with no redeeming qualities. The author should commit suicide.
-- Derpadoo on 3/29/2014 4:51:17 PM
The story forces the character to descend into a "Every man for himself" attitude, giving you options that have nothing to do with how your character develops. Very poor.
-- Jackster on 3/29/2014 1:47:52 PM
This story is VERY well written, has a nice plot and interesting outcomes to various choices. Although i died many times (about 6) i really loved my epilogue (2). The story ends very nicely and even when you die without an epilogue it's still cool. I would recommend Ground Zero to anyone!
on 3/28/2014 10:56:36 PM
Really loved it, played it multiple times to get different endings and they were all really interesting and intricate. I always enjoy a good post apocalyptic story. A plus was that there were some similarities to fallout, love that game. Make more stories!

The ending where you get eaten by dogs needs to be taken out and you need to make it to the city, and other stuff, die in a shoutout when you found a gun and you kill 10+ people before tyou die, the rest of the details is up to you

Great game! Sad when Marina dies and all.
-- Pleier on 3/23/2014 8:03:45 AM
Great stuff; I'm impressed how many branching storylines there were. Lots of the "dead ends" have a lot of plot behind them, and overall it's very well-written. If only the whole thing were a bit longer!

Not bad, but too short.

I wished the story had an option to work with the gov and salvage the situation.
-- jackoustop on 3/17/2014 1:59:03 AM
Wow!!!! This game is brilliant!! I don't understand how the author was able to create so many differnt storylines and twists, but every choice has a consequence and each time the story plays out differently. I've Been playing for about an hour now, restarting the game each time I reach the end, and each time I make a different decision, the events that follow continue to surprise me and keep me interested. It has happy, sad, scary and sweet/feel-good endings and twists, and I am in awe of this game and the author who has such a creative and vivid imagination. I thought that "The Walking Dead" game was amazing, but it has nothing on this game. I've only played out about 20 scenarios and there are still a couple more that I haven't tried. Will be doing that for the rest of the night :) Thank you for this game!!!!

-slow clap- Excellent game. You never disappoint, Endmaster.
on 2/25/2014 10:01:19 AM
I enjoyed it a lot, very much like a modern day sci-fi World war two setting, it was majestic in it's own little way, and definetly had that spark to make it amazing.
on 2/21/2014 5:44:56 AM
Wow... I finally completed what I'm sure is the "winning" ending and I've gotta say... It was amazing! In all honesty though, the other branches in the beginning all kinda sucked. They all seemed extremely short in comparison and no matter what, you were screwed either way. But I guess that's how nuclear apocalypse works right? But never mind that! Overall, it's one of my favorites! Great storygame! Play it or live in eternal ignorance!

Absolutely brilliant. I wish I could give it a higher rating.
on 1/29/2014 2:34:34 AM
Over all, after playing the game several times over time, I'd have to give this a 6. It's a lot of fun, and well worth the time spent on it, but there are too many endings that could have been better. So many things are left undone, and in the end, you really only have a few choices to make during each scene. Sure, it branches out a lot over-all, but when you only have so many options. It could have been much, much bigger than it was.
on 1/24/2014 4:06:16 PM
This play-through, I bought the shelter and left it in search of the lady friend after surviving evil hackers. The ending was terrible on that one, you know. I love this story, but that was a cop out. Once you went top-side, there should have been the hunt to find the place, and at least a descent epilogue. It just ends, however. A serious cop-out. I'm very disappointed in that ending.

Woah I just got all 4 epilouges! I give you a 5 just for the length and apparent hard work put into this. But in all seriousness this was an amazing story. Though some of the deaths seemed to occur through random "accidents" or coincidences, it really only needed to follow the simple logic; pussy out now, you're going to pay for it in the future. And LOGIC!

-- Pugboy on 10/30/2013 11:53:35 PM
It was a very good game with choices that felt meaningful. It was very interesting to see how the situation changed and developed over the course of years.
However, I did sometimes feel that the actions of the main character were forced, such as when he votes for Ron or when he shoots himself in one ending. It would have been nice to have some sort of choice in these situations.

on 10/24/2013 4:55:49 PM
Which one didn't you get? I'll give a general guide since I'm not sure which one you're trying to find.
One is in the Experimental Shelter (Turn off the net and talk to someone much closer)
One is in the Community Shelter (Develop more of a community spirit)
One is in the Compound (Stick with Marina and eventually become more of a leader)
One is in the City (Head to the city and embrace mutant destiny)
on 10/22/2013 8:10:12 PM
Great game overall. But some of the choices end up leading you to die without any warning whatsoever. It's feels like you just need to be lucky to end up picking the right one.
Also sometime the cusing seems a bit too much.
Anyway so far I've finished 3 of the 4 endings but I can't seem to find the last one. Could someone give me some sort of hint or clue to get all the epilogues pls Ty. :D

Really well thought out storyline. I've gone through every possible path. I really like how the stories fit into each other. The reuse of characters, like Damon the thug. All the epilogues really give you a sense of closure on that particular story arc. By far the best story I've read so far.
-- Al on 9/2/2013 11:10:38 PM
that was a fuckin awesome story but it could have not gone by that quickly. Also it should have eventually gone out to a city or something where you have to make some hard decisions but i guess thats for the advanced stories.

I like the long perspective, and I like how many different personalities the same person can develope into is shown. Great potential for heroism, villainy, and leadership all wrapped up in one package.
Personally I enjoy the heroism most, but each perspective is very well done, and there's multiple routes for all tastes.

Great game, once again, Endmaster has risen to the occasion, and preformed superbly.
Noticeably not as many options with this one compared to Eternal...
(although he could have made this one first, not sure) I managed to find 3 of the four endings, and have to say I am slightly sad that I wasnt able to get an ending for both the Special Bunker or for the Insane murderer/GangLeader... Which is a shame, but I guess the endings main theme is to see what impact you left on the world through your offspring... *sigh*
My first play through ended up with me heading out to meet my fellow survivor in a specialized bunker.... Like how open ended everything was, although when playing I felt that it was more than just a little inspired by the Fallout series... not that that's bad or anything, just an observation. (although the pictures were nice!)
Had to rate it slightly lower than Eternal for the Endings...
-- Who really cares? on 8/14/2013 5:40:04 AM
Very good story. It takes a couple questionable turns, but all-in-all it was a fun ride! The character dialogue, especially in the beginning, is very real. It made me feel as if I was actually reading a conversation between two very real people. Without spoiling anything, after the exposition, the characters become pretty confined. And I mean that literally. I found myself wishing for more of an adventure, but I highly recommend this story.
on 8/13/2013 4:02:13 PM

Still great I love all the endings

Beautiful story with a few Fallout and Borderlands references here and there. I sure hope there's a sequel in the near future.
-- Myles da Man on 7/30/2013 4:34:24 PM
I like the way you incorporate a legacy into the story and a sense that the story continues even when you have finished.
on 7/29/2013 4:46:40 AM
The writing was interesting, and the story overall was good; the problem is that too much of the story wasn't my choice. Too much of the story just 'happened' without my having a say-so in how or why I would do something. An example: I ended up helping the family with the broken leg and left when threatened. I, personally, would have lied and come back to kill them or even would have liked to head to the city or something other than "Leave" or "Stay".

-- evan on 7/27/2013 1:04:25 AM
This is amazing! While not, in my opinion, as wonderful as LoveSICK, it was an intriguing and delightful story none the less. If only my shelter would have had all the porn.. *sigh* well some people have all the luck. Your character development is exceptional, I really felt like I knew my fellow survivors within a few paragraphs.
on 7/23/2013 7:57:13 PM
Nice! You need to add an actual Raider epilogue, where the protagonist builds a raider kingdom.
-- Cyberpunker on 7/23/2013 4:55:14 AM
Definitely an interesting story. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories that have multiple possibilities and endings. Honestly if your browsing through this site or have become a member, I believe you are one of these people. This is a must read or play as the case may be.
on 7/23/2013 2:29:37 AM
this adventure gets more interesting the more choices i make.
-- Paul on 7/19/2013 11:17:51 PM
I have so far unlocked two of the epilogues, and although it is sometimes hard to find the path that actually does what you intended to do it is a fun journey, and if you can make more like this that would be great.
-- Paul on 7/19/2013 5:51:46 PM
This is amazing! I got an "good" ending and I did it!
-- Juan on 7/11/2013 5:52:57 PM
Best 6 hours ever!!
-- Spencer on 7/9/2013 8:10:35 AM
Worth every minute, and every page. The story was amazing I had to go through the whole thing twice just to enjoy it properly. Kudos to the author. Excellent game and read.
-- David on 7/7/2013 3:00:06 AM
I really liked this! It was the best "Chose your story" I ever played! I write a bit myself, hope to one day write something as good as this.
-- Jack on 7/7/2013 2:05:28 AM
Thanks, glad to know this story catered to the homosexual community in some way as sometimes my stuff gets accused of doing the opposite.
on 7/3/2013 11:59:25 PM
its kind of gay
on 7/3/2013 9:17:31 PM
It took me a while, but I played through all of the 'Special Shelter' endings, and a few of the 'community shelter' endings, and I have to say, this is one of the best games I've played so far.
Keep up the good work!
on 7/2/2013 1:02:47 PM
Well, I died. It seems like it would have been a fun game otherwise. XD
-- Human on 6/28/2013 9:18:52 PM
The guy's name is quite ironic on the epilogue 3. Anyways, I'm not sure if I got the best ending but it seems like a good one.
-- Sirius on 6/27/2013 1:15:21 PM
this was so good! so many choices. i was glad i finally got the epiloge
on 6/27/2013 7:04:50 AM
I've read a lot of stories on this site and this one is without a doubt the best one.
I can't tell you how many times I've replayed it and I find something new each time.
on 6/18/2013 7:51:01 AM
Interesting but still feels short, maybe i always die too quick
on 6/18/2013 3:37:24 AM
Lots of choices and a fun read. If this could be built up with stuff like inventory, stats, etc it's a great concept!
on 6/16/2013 12:12:43 PM
This was very interesting. I like my crude attitude and frequent grogginess. But partying like it was 1999 was worth it. I recommend this!
-- Lex on 6/16/2013 12:26:08 AM
kinda short but packed with good choices. it needs a sequel.
-- xxx on 6/15/2013 2:57:45 PM
Fantastic. I don't know why so many people are saying they wish the game was longer. I played through to all 4 epilogues and lo ed all the twists and turns and how the stories connected. Great work.
-- wizdum on 6/12/2013 8:07:31 PM
It's nice, little on the short side, but nice!
on 6/10/2013 10:37:09 AM
good story but you have no say in your character creation or personality so your naturally a dick to every body, beside that though its good
-- kabal1199 on 6/7/2013 11:51:14 PM
Pretty fun, probably the better of the games on here
on 6/6/2013 3:35:16 PM
Awesome game! I have played it several times and the only thing that annoys me is that all endings that i fave played end in you getting killed or in a dead end
on 6/6/2013 3:21:26 PM
can you make a part two? the story was great!
-- alex on 5/28/2013 3:51:51 PM

I'd like to know if there are more games similar to this ! Kinda wish I was there. I really lost myself in the story and is the best iv played on here so far . I liked the lack of an inventory and logical choices but there is a quite a few default choices. Great game
on 5/26/2013 7:00:51 PM
Speechless. Utterly mind blowing.
It's absolutely astonishing how this story sheds light on human emotions and never ending resiliency. I'm not usually one to connect with a work of fiction but I really felt as though I just lived my entire life in these mere moments it took for me to read this.
Keep up the spectacular work!
-- Anubeast on 5/25/2013 4:40:14 AM
I got epilogue 3... Spent an entire day playing this, an amazing story no matter what ending you get.. Great job on this! Lots of emotion and sad scenes, RIP Marina :(
-- Zeroinco on 5/23/2013 12:34:49 PM
I didn't get too far, but I would like to try again and not make the same mistakes.
-- Luke on 5/22/2013 10:30:51 PM
Great game! I'm going to have to replay this to see the different scenarios. I died too early! LOL.
-- BeiGo on 5/19/2013 4:01:17 PM
You have created a haunting adventure through a shattered post apocalyptic America. It has been a phenomenal experience!
-- Max B on 5/17/2013 12:35:55 AM
Extremely in depth and thought out story. went through it 4 or 5 times and i still diddnt get all of the story's.

Got epilogue 3. First time I played, I wasn't that impressed but after being able to actually get somewhere (damn my humanity and conscience) it is really enjoyable and lengthy. Actually what I liked most was that gradually the focus shifted from survival if you so choose, to what you so choose. Definitely love the dynamic feel to the story since a lot are "railroaded"
-- Tyler on 4/22/2013 1:20:25 AM
Best story ever! I only wish it was longer! I'm definitely playing his other stories!

Definetely, one of the best interactive stories I've ever had the pleasure to read. I found myself taking all the paths to see the different outcomes.
The comunity shelter path was specially good.
on 3/13/2013 5:32:07 PM
Yeah the story was okay, but could you put slightly less swearing in it? my er, lil bro was reading over my shoulder and dinner was not that good last night with y parents.

I liked it and it was funny as hell. Had me in tears. Plus a few times i had to say, "Look out! We have bad-ass over here." LOL but over all I loved it.
-- Tristan on 3/11/2013 1:55:15 AM
Holy fuck that was awesome. I'm not usually one for this "massacre" style of story, but that was fucking amazing. Only in CYA stories can I get away with being a cynical bastard that gets a hard-on from licking a dying chick's face.
-- Ryan on 3/10/2013 10:28:41 PM
sick nasty ill my computer is about to die. i love this game, this is all i do.

I FINALLY FINISHED!
I love it. I'm a reader, as well as a writer. This was certainly well done. In fact, I suggest this person attempt to make some sort of profit from his/her skills! Totally enjoyed it, thank you!
It also took up a lot of my time, haha xD
I finished with Epilouge 4, with The Chosen, Hera, triumph and uniting of the mutants, etc.
-- Jobrjo on 2/27/2013 1:53:14 PM
I can sum this story in four words... This. Story. Is. Perfect. It has the right balance of story play and game time, and no choice left me bored, like some others. Also has a great ending!
on 2/26/2013 10:22:13 PM
this was great! i was surfing the internet for no reason and came across this. Then as I kept reading I was getting attached. It was good ride. I loved it! Also got the best ending on the first try. But yeah, this was good.
-- Gomi500 on 2/26/2013 5:28:22 AM
Originally I gave this a six. Post-apocalyptic stories aren't really my thing, so to speak, and the paths I originally took didn't really do much for me. As some people pointed out, your character can be quite the jerk. However, I don't see that as a flaw in the writing so much as it just isn't my personal tastes. The writing, as for all your games, is exemplary (barring the few technical mistakes here and there). While I don't LIKE a lot of swearing, it really does make sense for the time and situation, and I really get the impression you're not walking on eggshells for anyone. I can respect that, even if I personally don't swear and hate being sword at in reality.
Anyhow, I finally got the 'Eliza' ending, and it was beautiful. And I think that's what I love about your works. You present these gritty worlds with horrible people and events in them, and hard choices, but through it all, you still have this magnificent portrayal of beauty and an odd sense of justice also. So, Bravo, Bravo!
on 2/26/2013 4:45:56 AM
i love the way endmaster tells stories it's like the options he gives are some that i'd actually choose it doesn't feel like i'm playing a game i can physically see it like it's actually happening right in front of me its descriptive and realistic and idk i just love it
on 2/24/2013 12:25:13 PM
Nice story man, did some few go backs to finally get the right one (I think) well, whats the right one? I got satisfied on the option of attacking Miranda and going to Becky's shelter, is that the right one?
-- Angelo on 2/24/2013 3:49:57 AM
Great choose your story! Its like the old choose your own adventure books but for adults! Nice work!
-- frank on 2/22/2013 2:50:23 AM
I got through both epilogues and I liked bother but I like the vault ending more cause it was deeper. Great story in all wish there was a sequel like from a different point of view.
-- alec on 2/19/2013 10:16:05 PM
Sigh. If you're going to make unfounded fucktard accusations of "sexism" then it might be best if you actually gave examples of such things.
Otherwise you're just talking out of your ass.
on 2/18/2013 10:32:53 PM
Didn't like all the sexist writing and outlandish cliches like doomsday cults and cyborgs.
on 2/18/2013 5:08:31 PM
It was really good just wish u had more choice but it was a very good story to introduce one to the choose your own adventure world. Such as my self.
-- Stretch on 2/14/2013 4:24:30 AM
Honestly, I'm not as keen on this one as I have been on other stories by the same author. Still, I was intrigued enough to keep going until I found an epilogue. Wish there was less swearing though.
on 2/13/2013 3:13:23 PM
I thought this was a great little game! I tried several endings and died each and every time, but still enjoyed the adventure!
-- Ang on 2/12/2013 4:07:18 AM
got another epilogue... epilogue 1... i didn't notice this path before..hmm. now, for the 3rd epilogue..
on 2/11/2013 3:29:08 AM
Okay...so is there really a way to "win" through buying a Special shelter? I tried practically everything but I end up dying... So how to get to Becky, eh? Send me a message, please? :) Thanks!
on 2/10/2013 3:45:59 AM
Got one of the epilogues. Wow. Still wondering how he was able to save up money to join the community/buy the Special Shelter.
on 2/9/2013 6:31:54 AM
Interesting game, although a bit short. Like the post apocalyptic theme and the humorous character! In short a good game! I'm off to my second playthrough!
-- Jonathan on 2/8/2013 9:56:57 AM
Very good! I think this is a GREAT game and maybe you could make a 2nd game? It would be nice to see what happens later in the game. I only got one ending, but it is excellent. I like the pictures too. They relate well to the current scene. This game will bring you enlightenment!
on 2/6/2013 9:52:49 PM
I think it's a great game, and I played through several different endings, and I have to say, it's very well done. But in the beginning, I had issues connecting with a character who was such a jerk. Aside from that, I think this is a beautiful game. P.S. Love the Fallout pics.
-- undeadbatman on 2/6/2013 3:22:14 AM

Definatley got me hooked with all the multiple paths. I found an epilouge which was quite sweet in a strange disturbed way. Still an amasing game and shows the effort of a true writer
on 1/30/2013 5:16:43 PM
Okay the second time round
on 1/30/2013 4:50:12 PM
How the hell do you win ?
on 1/30/2013 4:47:15 PM
Quite good, this. I wouldv've liked a bit more choice than what was offered, but I get that it was a story-centric game. Still, the variety was certainly there so it remained interesting and entertaining, though I didn't really understand the characters motivation for being such an asshole at the beginning. Perhaps with a little back story, but I didn't and couldn't have written something with this much charm and variety. Congrats to the writer.
on 1/30/2013 10:42:33 AM
I thought i'll never see this game again, I've played this game year ago, and i was in love with it. but i forgot the name of the sit, but now I've found it again. So i'm gonna get each and every ending now.
This story is simply awesome, I even go as far to say that this is the best story game i´ve ever read.
What an astounding experiance.

Fun story. I was a little disappointed that there's no wasteland survival part of the story.

Strongly recommended for cyoa beginners and cyoa veterans..

This was a good read, and an interesting way to spend some time. I found a few typos, but nothing is perfect. I rated it an eight. Good stuff, but I kind of wish the story continued after the dude left the shelter.

This is my fourth game on this website and omg is it good. I went through all of the endings... And I do mean all. I started this on Friday and it is now 3:30 am on Tuesday. Now granted I didn't do this straight through but still. This series is very well written and strangely enough does have many true different paths for the different people. My first true ending after about three deaths was amazing. This is a novel within novels and takes a great deal of time to enjoy all of its points, but is definitely worth it.
-- Misaka12 on 1/22/2013 3:28:38 AM
Needs more variety and options, it would be more stimulating to be more active in the decision making process.
-- Justin on 1/21/2013 8:08:03 PM
I loved everything about this story I choose it expecting a few seconds of something to consume my time but little did I know that I just unlocked the best freaking choose your story ever I really hope others get this same satisfaction from this story as I did and I hope the author will make more stories like this.

Interesting story and good writing. Endmaster, you're a real pro. If you please can redirect me to one of your stories I wouldn't like, do so? I think we'd get along well. I am pretty good at writing in swedish, maybe we should work on something.
on 1/1/2013 10:55:24 PM
Too few choices, although the setting and Fallout-ish references are quite interesting.
At most there were two choices to pick from, which is, quite lacking for a Choose-your-own-adventure game.
-- Kiele on 12/31/2012 2:28:51 AM

As I found the Special Shelter Ending I finally realized the true intelligence of Endmaster and every story he wrote. A 9.9 out of 10 and no matter what ending one takes the characters develop nicely and even Shelter/Eliza is an amazing character too.
I highly recommend this to anyone with the time.
-- TheImmortalOmegagoldfish on 11/17/2012 9:54:41 AM
This is another great story by Endmaster (even though he dabbles in fantasy adventure most of the time) the characters develop and every situation has depth
to it as well as almost NO errors or bugs. A 9.9 out of 10 and I recommend this for anyone who wants to be entertained I know I was.

-- johnny tomsons on 11/11/2012 2:15:37 AM
This is one of the first games I've played on this site, but definitely the best so far. I like the fact your choices require sensible, logical decision making. It is important that even poor decisions often lead to further choice rather than instant death.
It also makes a change to be able to have your own place and ride out a lot of the trouble, rather than forcing you to constantly wander aimlessly. Nice story game! 8/8
on 11/4/2012 10:17:50 AM
Amazing. I cannot imagine what else I would have done with these three hours. I applaud your innate grasp of complex decisions and their repercussions. All in all a one of a kind, well planned, classic create-your-own-adventure tale!
on 10/28/2012 7:57:41 PM
wow, this is great! is it based on fallout? the cartoon character is the same.
on 10/28/2012 7:22:31 PM
Hahah. Gave me a nostalgia trip when you used pictures from the game wasteland. I really enjoyed this
-- Flamen0d on 10/26/2012 6:07:25 PM
I enjoyed it a lot, but I kinda wished there was more action than just sitting in a bomb shelter reading about how your character gets his freak on before some random lesbian hacks your system and you have to leave.
Other than that 6/10
I think I'll have to play it again to find the other endings.

Amazing! Best choose your own adventure type game out there. Just the amount of different interlinked story is astonishing And every one has an epilogue of its own.

First time I've ever done one of these and now I'm addicted! Wife not to happy about it lol
-- Bryon on 10/20/2012 12:52:31 AM
this was brilliant, couldn't put it down. So many different twists. I played until i read all four epilogues. I loved the inter connectivity of the story. If you went with the, it told you about what happened in the second. Then if you went with the second, it told you about what happened in the first. Each one had the human element present. I fell in love, i was betrayed, i knew humanity. The best story on here and i don't want to see one top it.
-- Kris on 10/12/2012 11:30:29 AM
Best so far, it's peppered with swear words, but no more than regular conversation. This story has everything. You go from being attacked to being seduced. I have gone through twice, and am about to go a third time.
-- James on 10/11/2012 11:38:53 PM
i really like the atmosphere, the story telling and the sense of foreboding. you did a great job.

-- Red on 10/11/2012 8:59:26 PM
Beautiful, raw, believable. This story made me want to survive, not as a means of beating the game, but because I felt it was real. It gives a sense of immersion the degree of which I had yet to encounter on this website. I was able to get Epilogue 2 on my first run, and you can bet that I'll be back to find a few others. Your focus on storytelling is something I very much admire, you don't let gadgets and goofy systems distract from the sheer magnitude and cohesiveness of the story you've crafted. My only complaint was the frequent Jack/Jake switching which I assume is an oversight. I'll assert this again and again: astounding from the very first page.

on 9/18/2012 2:58:55 AM

on 9/10/2012 6:35:34 PM
I like this. The detail is just right, not overly done but paired with the simple choices it gives you satisfaction. Like i said, the choices are simple, but that doesn't make it boring, you just have found an extremely efficient storytelling manner. You have given me some ideas about my format. good job!

-- Jack on 9/2/2012 10:47:36 AM
I picked this up thinking it would be a simple post-apocalyptic survival story. After checking almost every single page could find, I can now compare my previous idea to saying that the world is about four feet in diameter. This story is infinitely expanding and every option is brimming with excitement that defines the human psyche as in-depth as you can get. The beginning is light and humorous, the middle provides tension and edge-of-your-seat thrilling suspense, and the ending (or at least the only epilogue I managed to find) actually made me cry. This story is so flawlessly written that it has made me question almost everything I have come to know about the literary world. My only major complaint is that the community shelter's story was fairly weak in my opinion; the special shelter storyline provided everything that makes me rate this a flawless 8 out of 8. I would rate this higher if I could. The unforgettable characters and their exploits will stay with me forever, and I cannot thank EndMaster enough for introducing me to them. Bravo.

I killed leon because if I hadn't he would have killed us all. It was because of me we found the village! Even in my death I served the colony, ending their dependence on the shelter. This game is too long, confusing and messed up.
on 4/18/2012 1:45:43 PM
I just can't find the fourth epilogue. I've found the 'Mutant Leader' ending, the 'Atomic Alliance' ending and the 'Community Shelter' ending, and I could have sworn there weren't any others. This is going to bug me until I find it, damn you!
on 4/5/2012 8:58:23 PM
Found another one; one that was more related to the combine and the cyborgs. I'm going to try to track down the rest - there's at least one more.
on 4/5/2012 7:58:04 PM
I finally found a second epilogue, but when I looked at the title of the page it was 'epilogue 4'. 4!
Anyway, it has an interesting plot and is difficult enough to be entertaining, with writing good enough to keep my brain from exploding from the sheer volume of text (I'm going to have to postpone the hunt for the other eplogues because finding 2 in a row has incapacitated me). All in all, very fun - and worth the enormous amount of time I sunk into it. A particularly entertaining game is trying to spot, before choosing, the points which subsequently open up an entire vista of story.
The only criticism I had (and it may not even be valid, having not gotten every epilogue yet) is that I would have liked to have been more involved with the Combine or the Cyborgs, and to have participated more in the conflict.
on 4/2/2012 1:25:33 PM
I never really comment on anything. But after reading this story I have felt compelled to. The funniest thing is on my first try I ended up taking part in the work orgy and dying early doors! I can literally picture every scenario as you write it so well. My favourite ending was the one with Alex!!! I really hate that guy!!! The mutant king was inspiring!! The loneliness of the special shelter. And the feelgood new haven. You are an extremely talented and visionary guy. And I look forward to reading your other material. Truly awesome.

on 3/1/2012 1:05:05 AM
on 2/29/2012 3:12:22 PM
I thought it was really good with obvious inspiration taken from fallout lol But the one thing I would say... I'm not sure I agree with where the story ended, given my choices... I mean... It would be typical of a fallout-esc feature to enable you to do things your way and also use things to your advantage in order to achieve seemingly impossible tasks... i.e infiltrate Alex's compound/headquarters on your own... More importantly, even given the turn of events I befell... It would have been nice to like... I dunno... Use my new cybernetics and cyborg components, again, to my advantage in order to become more powerful/reap new benefits and ultimately complete the mission (ideally in my own way)... Just something to think about.. As I said, other than that I loved the stylistic components of it all namely the postapocalyptic story etc etc Additionally ( I don't know for sure if you can do

Hey endmaster, have you ever thought about writing a "Post-Regeneratio" story? It would be during or after somebody started terraforming the world. Possible alien interaction?
-- Jermo the potato on 2/17/2012 12:59:24 PM
Well written I got through on my first try but I still needed to try every other scenario!!
-- Claymann on 2/16/2012 4:59:07 PM
It was much better than Necromancer, in my opinion. It much more extensive, the characters were fully fleshed out(which they were in Necromancer, but sometimes I just didn't feel like the dialogue or actions were justified), and there was a vast array of actions and sequences which I didn't expect.
Epilogue 1 also made me cry! I rarely cry when I read stories.
The universe you've created is sparse and I enjoy how that and the events that take place, overlap in the different journeys you go through.
I also love how you emerge a completely different personality/character depending on which path you take.
Perfect, except for a maybe a superficial thing or two, but otherwise you have me impressed!

on 11/4/2011 2:27:13 AM
Help, I'm stuck... I found New Haven (great epilogue) and The Shelter (my absolute favorite of the two, contrary to popular sentiment in here, it seems), but - how to get to the other two? Author, feel free to email me, I'd like a hint at what direction to choose. Amazing that I've overlooked both, the way I've been obsessing about systematically scanning each branch to get to the unread ones. Oh, btw: Please learn punctuation, the missing commas make this great story (I refuse to call it game) a bit flawed.
-- Paul on 11/4/2011 12:47:45 AM
Oh! There were three more "full" endings - forgot about those when finding just one epilogue. Got back to reading, found the "Epilogue 1" ending - and was touched! I love how the reader's investment of both time and afterthought reaches such a conclusion. Will definitely find the remaining two, and probably write more here. Absolutely love how these scenarios play out!
-- Paul on 11/3/2011 10:50:40 PM
Got completely hooked here. Love how a dead end storyline isn't treated as such, but provides enjoyable reading in itself. Would love to see how things went with "the other woman" as well - how about fleshing that part out to the same extent as the epilouge storyline? Two equally rewarding wins, in a way. Epic story - in the word's true sense.

I don't like this story because it is very Complex story i I do not understand what is the purpose of the story
-- bader on 9/25/2011 10:49:46 PM
Brilliant. Love the fallout connotations as well.
on 9/25/2011 2:55:27 AM
Got to the epilogue! Great story overall if you follow the right path. Wish I could have made more choices throughout the story though.

I thought this story was very exciting and interesting.
-- Lisa on 9/22/2011 6:04:15 PM
lol i found an ending i never knew about!
Join the compound stay silent go to the city and explore by yourself. Quite entertaining.
on 9/14/2011 12:53:23 PM
Seriously Amazing, tried everything and every ending is logical and brilliant. Great story combined with great characters make this the best "choose your own adventure story" I have ever played.
on 9/7/2011 2:49:02 PM
This was a great game that uses sound logic and has no B.S. endings. Truly a great game.

Great game needs a even

This is definitely one of the better games on this site.
on 8/14/2011 8:43:50 PM
i have to say this is a really interesting and awesome story. about the only good one on the site actually. i really recommend it. ive played it for 7 times so far, whenever i get bored and there's nothing to do i come here and play it again. i finnaly managed to get 3 epilogues. still looking for the last one i think. i will for sure play this again when i get bored its has a awesome experience. i myself hate reading but this isn't like reading its like playing a video game like fallout or another post-apocalyptic game. anyways to conclude this i will rate it a 8. the author must have spend a nice amount of time and patience writing this. BTW if you were to sell this in some kind of form i will buy it.
-- Omar on 8/12/2011 5:49:35 PM
Very well Written, loved the ending I got!
on 8/11/2011 11:21:15 AM
My favorite story on this site. Should be required reading for any writer who wants to post here.
on 8/10/2011 10:30:32 PM
This game has several different endings. After several replays I finally got one of the good endings! This game has a high replay value and will easily entertain anyone wanting to play this!
on 8/1/2011 8:37:18 PM
I look up to this author, haha.
This is freaking amazing whether it was the dialogue, plot, and no matter what option was chose, the results logically made sense.
on 7/31/2011 5:29:31 AM
can't beat it.
-- james on 7/29/2011 4:56:57 AM
Wow . . . pretty awesome. I actually kinda got attached to Shelter there for a while. Alittle spit and polish it coulda made a bigger, better one too. You should think of extending the "Go to Becky" storyline.
-- Matt on 7/29/2011 4:17:44 AM
they really need to make this into a real video game!
-- bigheadwarrior on 7/25/2011 7:37:13 AM
This story was probably the reason that I joined this site in the first place. Whenever I read it I get really nostalgic and it makes me wonder what the hell i'm going to do when the bombs finally do drop. For those of you browsing through and see this story I have a few words to say. Read. This. Story.

Really a great game, i finally got all four epilogues, and i liked how all of the story lines tied together in some way. The game was really well written and enjoyable. Nice work.
-- FalloutMatser on 7/23/2011 7:46:57 PM
An amazing one. The endings are amazing aswel. Especially the one where you build a new town out of the Bunker.
The game reminded me so much of Fallout, that I ended up enjoying it much, much more because of it...

More romance options? I put in more than enough, this isn't an Anime/Bioware dating sim.
on 7/20/2011 10:30:45 AM
Really a good game, although like some pople in the comments ahve said it is more like a story, its a good one. It was very well written and interesting to play. highly reccomend
-- falloutmaster on 7/18/2011 7:11:52 PM
Great Story. Maybe more romantic options.
on 7/16/2011 11:41:50 AM
it was good still havnt finshed all the parts of it
on 7/15/2011 6:27:41 AM
Well I've played this game a couple of times now and I have to say its one of my favorites with so many ending and each one holding you in the story.
on 7/15/2011 5:30:24 AM
As far as I can tell uglick never made any comment about this story before until just now. He did make a similar complaint about Necromancer though.
on 7/14/2011 7:59:10 PM
Because this is more of a story than a game.
on 7/14/2011 1:52:03 PM
I recant my old whiney comment about this game. I still dont like how you can make a descision, that gets you killed, but not because of that descision, but another descision you had no controll over. Dispite that, this is an overwhelming story, in depth and length. 8 out of 8.
on 7/14/2011 1:28:11 PM
Wow dude. That's all i can say without giving away massive details about the entire story that i got but i do have one thing to say: The Vault-Boy pictures from the Fallout series. Every time i saw one i had to laugh :)
on 7/9/2011 4:40:04 AM
I have to say, this game does not disappoint... again.
The first time I played this, I got the "New Haven" route finished and thought I got one of the best endings after messing around with a few other routes. I come back to play again a few months later for kicks and discover the "Atomic Alliance" route! I always did wonder about the Combine and those cyborgs; I love how every route connects in small ways to the other ones! I still kinda like the New Haven ending best, but maybe just cause it was my first. Hmm... maybe it's time to play Necromancer again. Love that one too. Continue making storygames like these two, EndMaster!
-- Raziel on 7/5/2011 10:29:45 PM
Nah, I didn't draw anything, those are all images I found. I did some minor photoshopping on some of them though.
on 6/12/2011 8:48:34 PM
This is unbelievably detailed. I'd almost say it falls under the psych genre as it follows various lives with a sort of grim self-observance (though, inevitably, your character is a "leader" type).
EndMaster, did you draw the cartoons?
-- Rowan on 6/12/2011 6:31:08 PM
This story is too good, you should make another similar game.
on 6/9/2011 10:01:08 PM
It was a Sunday afternoon... The Jaegar had been poured and the Cherry Cola was there to wash it down... I found this lil' site to stop and visit... The story was like a GRANDE meal, I couldn't have enough! Tanks!:)
-- Nick-o on 6/5/2011 7:09:44 PM
Great game, got the "Sirus" epilogue on the compound path. Typos throughout, but mostly minor ones and I wouldn't pass an experience this memorable up for something so trivial.Highly recommended.
-- Dejanus on 5/31/2011 4:12:34 PM
Very nice! It took me a while to figure out the first page, but when I did, it was hilarious. There was definitely some major effort put into this piece of work.
on 5/31/2011 11:43:53 AM
More interesting than most books I've read. So many possibilities to follow that it's mind boggling. Someone definitely put some hard work and effort into making this the most interesting read in existence. Double thumbs up to the author.
Fantastic job. ;)
-- Jeff on 5/26/2011 8:21:21 PM
I like this, but it doesn't really give you enough choice. There could have been more choices as to who you voted for and such.
-- 1nd1g0 on 5/26/2011 5:23:38 AM
Reminded me alot of Fallout
on 5/24/2011 7:07:59 PM

-- roro on 5/23/2011 9:36:54 PM
yay i wins
on 5/22/2011 10:25:04 PM
Impressive! Shelter, New Haven, Atomic Alliance and Zero Dominion. Each story with its very own themes and atmosphere. The same characters used in some of the stories are also amazing as they just reflect how the path you take affects other stories that might have taken place. Besides all these, when all 4 storylines converge they reveal the main character's personalities completely. (His loner side, leadership, hidden nature, etc)
I want to give a 9/8! :)

-- Orpehus on 5/15/2011 5:43:16 PM
Yay! I finally got to an epilogue!
-- Will on 5/14/2011 6:32:21 PM
Wow-your writing skills amaze me. As a grade 9 high schooler I was always looking for something more interesting than video games and doing homework. When I found this homepage, it was like finding a cave full of treasure; but what was the most expensive piece was this story. Your ability to create a funny and interesting piece of work really helped me to understand the importance of making every decision. I think that this story made it to my top 10 stories I have ever read (that is very high, for I am a book worm). Thank you for spending so much time and effort in this-it is truly a masterpiece!!!
-- Jay Wang on 5/12/2011 6:46:56 PM
What's not to love about this game? Plenty of options to explore. Good times to be had.
on 5/11/2011 9:26:28 PM
very good work on this
-- reader on 5/11/2011 8:01:35 AM
Finally made it to the epilogue! I liked your various references to different kinds of mythology by the way
on 5/9/2011 10:07:11 PM
Did someone really post that this needs more endings? try playing it twice, then three times, then four times, then realizing that there are way too many endings to read at once and leave for a day or so before trying again. That's what I did at least.
on 5/8/2011 8:49:26 PM
Very good story/game. It has a lot of endings that are all interesting. It is clear that the person who made this put a lot of time into it. Definitely one of the best choose-your-own story gams ive ever played.

By the way thanks for the help. I am Cole and your game is the reason I joined this site. It really is just that good. I also enjoyed Necromancer. I would love to see sequels to both of these "games". Really I just like the interesting story lines you have.
on 4/29/2011 1:30:02 AM
Finally got the fourth ending. That was good but I like the New Haven ending best. Acutaly I like the endings the way I got them NH, MK, AA, and RL.

-- Hmmm on 4/26/2011 5:21:28 AM
What a remarkable story. I had to sit there for a whole two minutes, trying to figure out which of the two options given was going to lead me to a disirable ending. And I did this twice. I don't think a different game has made me think quite as much. Usually, I'm the fantasy type of reader, but this was a refreshing change.
on 4/24/2011 12:47:58 PM
Got all 4 epilogues, great endings, great stories.

on 4/23/2011 10:56:40 AM
it was a good concept :)
-- brandon on 4/23/2011 8:23:42 AM
I really like the game. Just wondering what is the start of the path that leads to the fourth ending? I have already done mutant king, Atomic Alliance and New Haven endings. How do you get the last. Other than the difficulties with finding the last epilogue. It was one of the most fun games here.

on 4/10/2011 3:50:36 AM
I love this story probly the best thing I have seen in a very long time. I expecially like the pictures from the fallout universe it captured the story perfectly. I applaude the author for creating a story this captivating.
Thank you for making my day.
-- Garrett on 4/9/2011 2:46:38 AM
Intresting Story, I think it was a really good story on what the world would be like after the end. It took me about 17 times of failure to find the True Ending.
-- Fireplay on 4/8/2011 5:58:47 PM
Thanks. Yeah, I did have choosing Elliot as an option in the original voting choice, not sure why I ended up taking it out. Probably should've had a small branch dealing with the repercussions of it though.
Oh well, if a remake is ever in the works the choice branch will be added along with the popular demand to travel to Brenda's shelter!
on 3/28/2011 8:58:16 AM
Nice 1 :D
-- Jon on 3/17/2011 8:13:43 PM
Certainly best story i read here. All paths are excellent
-- epiloger on 3/15/2011 4:36:33 PM
Great story! Really interesting, I definitely enjoyed it. The only problems were the grammar mistakes that sometimes made certain little parts difficult to read, and the little control you had over what you did, but still, great read :)
on 3/15/2011 1:03:01 AM
That was awesome, I enjoyed the story...reminds me of Fallout, LONG before people like the Vault Dweller went out and made his living. Everything here is cool.
-- Alex Young on 3/10/2011 11:30:38 AM
the first page was funny, then I kind of lost it. however, really well thought out and immersive. replayability is phenomenal. 8/8
on 2/27/2011 9:27:00 AM
Brillantly written story. A lot of parallels from the Fallout universe but it has its own character as well. A must read for post apocalyptic fiction lovers.
-- Engin on 2/19/2011 11:38:58 AM

-- Sires on 2/14/2011 11:53:22 AM
Great game. It reminded me a little of Fallout, but in the end I found it to be very different in many ways. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and am proud to say, that, I beat the game in 4 hours. I tried many ways, but found success in building my 'Chosen' Empire!
on 1/29/2011 4:08:43 AM
I thought the story was nice and very entertaining though It was a bit short. I thought that perhaps the entire story would continue once above ground.
-- STeven F on 1/28/2011 5:03:37 PM
First off, this story was - amazing. - I'm just going to get that right out there first.
Second off, that said, it had a few of it's blunders. I love how each decision isn't nesecarily a life or death thing, and how some decisions are, while invebitably futile, lead you on a sort of fun rat race before you get wasted.
But, there are some decisions that are either wholly decieving, or are just pointlessly annoying. As in, some choices are very logical, but with a little more knowledge, are incredibly stupid, or some just give you a paragraph saying "You died, failure." for making a perfectly rational decision.
Mayhaps you have some more entertaining goose chases to add?
Just my two cents. Thanks for making such an awesome story, mate. You gave me a night and a half well spent.
-- Waldy on 1/27/2011 5:18:27 PM
best game ever made!!!!!
and i got the map ending!
on 1/26/2011 10:28:22 PM
I got an ending that made me feel like a neutral hero and then I got another ending that made me feel like a real hero, even one that made some mistakes, with an epilouge where my descendant still brags about me. Seriously man, your stories are pure gold.
on 1/11/2011 8:41:12 PM
very good, there are a few endings where i wish it continued, i would say what it is if it wouldnt give away so much.
-- supersafe on 1/9/2011 3:08:05 PM

Thumbs up for the storytelling, bro. Got a nice sense of fulfillment playing through.
Keep it up

-- J.T. Pugh on 12/5/2010 10:41:16 PM
Wow, this is like Fallout, albeit a bit closer to home in terms of personal interaction. The Fallout franchise would be much more interesting and successful if they choose to incorporate this element.
Thanks to the author for this wonderful experience.

Well worth a few click throughs, can turn even the most bad tempered a$$hole into a decent man!
-- JD on 11/16/2010 10:45:41 AM
To quaker: There is a proper epilogue to the Experimental Special Shelter, but it probably isn't the path that most people think. (Big Hint: It doesn't even involve of lot of the chatroom stuff)
on 11/16/2010 9:28:18 AM
I loved the flow of the story, and the influence the Fallout series clearly had on it. I've only played through it once, but I was very pleased with how my story went and how it ended.
on 11/15/2010 11:23:14 PM
Outstanding. The first way I took was the community shelter story, and I think it's the best of them. Though I'm not entirely happy with the way I got together with Nina... She seemed to be quite insane too and I originally only took her to save the two men she was going to kill.
The chatroom story was a bit disturbing... is there a way to get a proper "Epilogue" ending on this route at all?
The militia story is cool and well written, and the mutant stuff is crazy but that comes from making the crazy decision of going to a major city unprotected days after a nuclear war. The "shelter" stories are much deeper though, psychologically.
on 11/15/2010 5:27:50 PM
This was well written, imaginative and engaging. I found only a few minor errors in the whole story. I couldn't help myself and went through multiple story arcs. My only sadness was that the main character was so male. I need to look for a story this good with a female lead. GOOD JOB SIR!
-- Natascha on 11/15/2010 4:17:35 PM

O my god! I forgot about the community option! Wow! You really out did yourself! I love how when you choose between single experiment shelter and community, all reasoning works. Choose a community and you deal with human nature! I cried a little at the end of both. :)
-- aaron Wolff on 8/15/2010 6:41:28 PM
I think I'm gonna cry. *sniffle sniffle*
Wow, what a demented imagination you have! Aramgedon, fringes of civilization in a chatroom, relationship with a computer, it's all so creative. Well done.

Words fail me. Truly in my top 3.
on 8/9/2010 5:39:09 PM
It was a brilliant story which so much depth, it kind of reminded me of Fallout 3 with the whole high tech shelter. But is was great to the end and it would definatily make a great book or novel. :D
-- Conor on 7/13/2010 6:01:46 PM
IT WAS AWSOME when will u make a sequel? the story left me wanting more
on 7/13/2010 4:31:39 PM
Lol, right because in a story where you've got cannibalistic mutants and killer cyborgs running around in a post apocalyptic wasteland, that particular part is unbelievable.
on 6/4/2010 6:36:22 AM
The party scenario was ridiculous, the main character takes an outrageous turn for the worst in a very unbelievable manner.
-- Jeremy on 6/3/2010 10:25:37 PM
Wow, what a depressingly accurate story. I knew I would get killed if I chose to fight back, but I honestly couldn't see myself leaving without a fight.

I liked how the circumstances (i.e. city mutants, the Combine) were constant no matter which path you chose. The only drawback was the occasional typo or omitted word, but there was so much story in this game that it would be difficult to smooth it out perfectly.
on 2/7/2010 7:40:35 PM
This is still my favorite story by far on this website. It's thoroughly entertaining and original. It's also great that there are so many completely different possible storylines.
on 1/20/2010 9:25:46 PM
Excellent game. So many endings possible.
I particularly enjoy the one with Becky after you destroy Miranda.
Keep coming up with these awesome ideas.
on 12/22/2009 6:30:42 PM
it was interesting.
-- jeremy on 12/14/2009 11:32:17 AM
Hahaha this is great stuff, just had my first try, man oh man i cang wait to start over and try again! Love the style of writing and storyline, fun!
Fyi, its all compatible with an iPhone,
-- Jorn on 11/16/2009 4:48:51 PM
This is awesome! Maybe you could make a sequel.
-- qwew80 on 10/16/2009 6:52:45 PM
No matter which way you go about it, the endings are NEVER the same, and the story stays as interesting as ever. Very nice work!
-- Mark on 9/27/2009 11:06:17 AM
Fascinating... the psychology of survivors of a nuclear attack hiding out in cramped quarters is masterfully and believably executed.
on 9/22/2009 1:28:58 PM
i. cant. stop. playing. it.
on 9/21/2009 11:07:55 PM
Well there's many endings, but only 4 "epilogues". You said ending 3 so I'm guessing you got the one where you founded the Atomic Alliance.
If you want a hint, there's 4 different paths you can take just before the nuclear attack. Whatever choices you made before then is going to lock you into a certain path. Two of them are inside a Shelter, and two of them are outside a Shelter. (And you got one of those already)
Technically there is a long "5th path" which occurs outside a Shelter too, but you don't get an epilogue for it.
on 7/21/2009 4:19:43 AM
great story but how do you get the other endings i get ending 3?
-- 123colby123 on 7/20/2009 4:13:31 PM
completed it it was good i love the ending :)
-- 123colby123 on 7/18/2009 1:17:31 AM
the storyline was gripping, good enough to be turned into a movie.
-- Sam on 7/2/2009 11:25:19 AM
Excellent story. love it
-- oriol on 6/28/2009 10:43:15 AM
The next time you see someone decry branching plot fiction, send them a link to "Ground Zero". Its quality and depth not only show the authors mastery of the form, but also reveal the mediums as yet unrealized potential.
The Aarseth/Montfort/Murray devotees don't know what they're missing.
on 6/5/2009 10:37:43 PM
I cannot believe I forgot to comment on this. All four endings are superb, even the dead end paths, which would normally be neglected, have been carefully written. The writing is so good it doesnt even need for the choices to have logical conclusions - finding out what could happen more than makes up for it. 8/8 man. Equal to Mommy.
on 5/26/2009 8:36:34 PM
it was so good i came to tears at the end may i say THIS IS THE BEST STORY GAME IN HISTORY... this story is amazing.
-- mack on 5/21/2009 11:12:12 PM
What the fuck is up with all these "too many bad words" comments lately? This story doesn't have near the gratuitous level of swearing that some of my other stories do. If anything the swearing is reasonable for the setting.
People, it's given the highest rated maturity level for a reason. Don't read something you know is going to offend you.
on 5/10/2009 12:08:13 AM
It was good but just a little to much bad words
on 5/7/2009 7:48:59 PM
My character became a king!!!!
-- Fniff on 4/4/2009 5:29:15 AM
My character became a mutant, Join zeropils guard and wandered into the wasteland. All the way,It was a beautiful game.
-- Fniff on 4/3/2009 3:43:41 PM
Considering you misspelled "too" I take it your reading comprehension is as bad as your spelling and you completely failed to understand the part where the story was rated with a "7" Maturity level.
See, I didn't even use any "bad" words. :D
on 4/2/2009 9:56:18 PM
To many bad words!!!!
-- Random dude on 4/2/2009 9:36:49 PM
Dang that was awesome. I'm gonna start stocking my basement with supplies right now.
on 2/20/2009 7:24:27 PM
Very good game, reminds me of Fallout3. Its very obvious you plenty of time into this. Again good job
on 1/27/2009 4:07:36 PM
Wonderful story. Very well put together. Epilogue is a nice ending too! Great job author!!
-- Maz on 1/26/2009 12:22:20 PM
I got one epilogue!! XD This is pretty cool. I didn't think I'd be this into the story. Good job. Though I'm not into the characters, but what the heck? That's just my opinion, but the characters themselves are okay.
on 1/5/2009 11:19:26 PM
Whoa so many branches! I take it back
-- Michal on 12/13/2008 5:25:09 AM
That was short
-- Michal on 12/13/2008 4:18:49 AM
Lol. You guys REALLY want to get to rockerchick don't you?
on 11/24/2008 8:45:02 AM
A nice fun game though to mean it seemed a little short. (Ended searching for Becky's shelter)
-- Seto101 on 11/22/2008 9:22:40 PM
Ah yes the rockerchick ending. More than one person has expressed their desire to see if you "made it" or not with that one.
Like I said in one of my other previous comments on here, there's a reason for why it ends like the way it does, however, maybe I might just make a short little "semi-sequel" detailing that journey, so that some people can get some closure on it.
on 8/18/2008 5:39:06 PM
I'd have love to have known what happened in the ending with you going to rockerchick, but it's taken almost 2 days, however i've finally just about got every ending possible.
on 8/18/2008 1:57:30 PM
Mind elaborating on which one you got? There's like a bunch of endings.
on 8/17/2008 12:39:20 PM
cool game but a rather lame end
on 8/16/2008 7:21:40 AM
good game. 8/8

One word: FANTASTIC!
on 6/10/2008 3:30:10 PM
Sorry, entered early on accident.
Anyways, the detail and elegency in the writing is optimal. I've only played through two of the story lines, and will certainly try to end of all of them. Grand game. Epic game, even. You, sir, are what this site is all about.
on 6/6/2008 2:29:56 AM
At first, when I first saw this game listed, I didn't think it would be as good as it was cracked up to be. But hten I played it. It's simply and utterly amazing. The detail and elegency in the
on 6/6/2008 2:26:54 AM
That was a truly excellent game, my friend, 2 thumbs up
on 5/12/2008 6:56:04 PM
Now I understand this sort of comment. This is a legitimate "complaint" rather than some idiot saying there were too many words!
Yeah, I know what you mean, some endings are left ambigious in what happens to you, but there was a method to the madness.
Basically you don't get a proper epilogue if you typically leave the "area" of your nuclear salvation. The idea is if you just wander off into the wilderness then you don't leave any "lasting legacy" and whether the rest of your life is long and good, or short and bad isn't relevant because you weren't really important in the scheme of things. At least not in the rebuilding of civilization process.(Or you were forgotten about over time, it's a harsh world afterall)
One of the four epilogues doesn't have a "lasting legacy" thing, but given the events in that branch it still deserved one.
on 5/9/2008 1:28:51 AM
I liked the plot of the game. my only issue is that some of the endings dont have a epiloge. such as the one where you leave the shelter with janes help. the only issue with that one was that there was no epiloge when there should have been one in my opinon. otherwise a good game.
-- Nick Metrano on 5/8/2008 3:49:29 PM
Great game! One of my favorites around this site. I always seem to get a new story each time too; replay value is great!
on 5/8/2008 2:40:44 PM
That was a pretty good game. I only did the community shelter one, so maybe I'll go back and survive the nuclear strike alone. It did feel more like a story than a game, like you said in your description, but a pretty damn good story.
Long live Fallout, by the way.
on 4/1/2008 9:13:26 PM
I haven't yet played the game in all available ways (and didn't even reach a happy end) but i can surely say I like this game. Yes it's wordy and I don't know english so well (i'm russian) so i sometimes had to switch my attention to find the meanings of some words in dictionary but even so I enjoyed the game's atmosphere. I was surprised the game doesn't have general storyline (or it does?) and consists of different independent stories with their own characters (Becky and Miranda; Ron and mad sociopath) and so on... And I very like these stories of living in the shelter :)
It was a little hard to understand the main character 'cause he seems to be a real misanthrope and uses too much "f**king" in his speech but I got used to him after some time. So thanks to the author for this game!
-- Aeroalex on 3/22/2008 4:21:55 AM
Too wordy? It's a writing site, what the hell did you expect?
But if you're having problems, tell your mom to not see so many customers in her bedroom and help you with the big words instead.
Either that or go back to reading "The Cat in The Hat". That's not as wordy.
on 3/6/2008 2:24:11 PM
Too wordy, too expository. I don't want to wade through so many speeches just to get rocks-fall-everyone-dies'd by mutant wolves.
-- warnthepenguins on 3/4/2008 7:26:04 PM
That was a lot of fun. I had trouble occasionally, because I'd forget my character's personality occasionally and choose an option that was obviously bad. I actually went and got every ending available, because I have no life. I liked the community shelter ending best, but the Marina ending was also good, and probably better for the future of humanity. Anyway, as I said, it was really fun. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
on 3/3/2008 10:56:52 PM
Wow! I am so proud I made it through to the end!!! (It took me two tries but i got it the second time!) This was such a great story with a wonderful ending! Im glad I took the time to take this adventure!
-- stevicoye on 2/22/2008 2:12:07 PM
Wow! That was an excellent story i only wish i had made better choices and gone further. Your writing is spectacular good job.
on 2/18/2008 8:07:57 PM
Holy crap, man! This story is remarkable! It has well-developed characters, an incredible storyline, great dialogue, and fantastic epilogues that wrap up the story and tie up loose ends (if there are any. I've only gotten Epilogue 3, but it is awesome). In short, you are an amazing writer, and this is one of the best CYOA games I've ever played. :)

That was to linear. I just clicked and owon the game. It was funny but I was too lazy to read anything

I haven't got the Scooby Doo ending yet.
on 1/6/2008 10:41:20 PM
That was better than the last ending, but I still wanted more!

Died a horrible death. Is there a way to win? Just kidding. I'll play again.
on 1/6/2008 9:57:25 PM
I liked the story; it's very well written. Lots of effort was put into it. I liked the "Fallout" feel of it. IF YOU CAN'T WAIT UNTIL FALLOUT 3 COMES OUT, THIS IS A MUST READ.

I've played it many times trying to get every ending(even ones where i end up dead)

keep up the good work

this is one of the greatest sci-fi story ive ever read, and ive gone through most of the endings...i just like how every thing connects with each other to form the whole story...its really epic and i can see that u have put in tremendous effort for this...keep up the good job mate...
-- tgan3 on 11/25/2007 11:51:20 AM
Awesome! I got 2 of the good endings and I really like how things can turn out completely differently for each choice you make. I really hope you write more stories in future.
-- doseki on 11/3/2007 10:52:49 PM
This was fantastic! I love how you could get completely different stories depending on the choices you made. You have obviously spent a great deal of time on this - let me tell you that it was time well spent... 8/8

This was a great game.
Good job mate.
on 10/22/2007 8:08:20 PM
I'm really liking this game. I've already played it four times and it's nice to see that there's about six endings I've seen so far. I wonder if I've completed the right one though?
on 10/22/2007 5:15:09 PM
Indeed. Happily there's none of that in this story.
Alright enough about deviants, and more comments about the actual story! (If anyone so desires to leave one)
on 10/20/2007 11:57:06 AM
That makes me sick.
on 10/19/2007 9:11:17 PM
Sexual deviants that get off on anime animal porn and dress up in fursuits to have sex with each other.
Their destruction will be one of the good things to come from a real nuclear war.

Oh...my...god. Here I am thinking going into the shelters was the main story, only to go back and do TONS of other things. The writing of not going into the shelter is amazing, well thought out, and imaginative. I saved the world, and am now back doing something else. Excellent replayability and definitely one of the best stories on the site. I upped the rating to 8/8. Wonderful job, End.
on 10/14/2007 6:32:53 PM
I loved the Fallout and Alpha Centauri pics, as well as the way you use language (i.e., the chat dialogues, the differences in AI versus human). The story was imaginative in that it basically dealt with total human isolation despite the ability to communicate with words - I may be looking too hard, but it seems a good analogy to the way humans interact in today's society with total wireless information beaming around. However, for me at least, the romance thing doesn't work well here and a lot of the hacking techniques seem sort of disingenuous.

This time I helped Society...
on 10/11/2007 7:46:06 PM
This is one of the finest pieces of work I have ever read. I absolutely loved it. It is written in a completely different sort of format to Snow, so I'm afraid I can't really compare them, but this is one of the best storygames I have read. No, one of the best pieces of writing. Ever.
on 10/10/2007 4:58:25 AM
Hooray! I won the war! Cool game, and is MissKitty a l*sbo, or what?
on 10/8/2007 4:58:49 PM
Amazing story. The only thing it was lacking was a link where you could somehow kill or harass or do something to that Bomb Shelter Lady on the phone! GRRR!! lol, Great job, man.
on 10/8/2007 2:47:48 PM
One of the best games I have ever played. I need to play it again to see all the possible endings. My only complaint is the ending I get is a bit of a cliffhanger. I won't spoil anything, but you don't know what happens to him as he walks to meet the girl.
Overall though. Epic. 8/8
on 10/7/2007 5:12:21 PM
Played again, I gotta rethink this. This is truly an amazing game, although I think Im still loyal to mommy as my favorite -- this is a close second.
on 10/7/2007 3:58:55 PM
Love it everytime I read it, EndMaster. Thanks for bringing a STORY to this GAME SITE. High quality story, excellent read. The choices you make have lasting consequences. Still my favorite story (with Alpha Wolf coming in a close second).
on 10/7/2007 10:58:57 AM
Great job! :D
I liked it, 6/8
on 10/7/2007 9:14:51 AM
Very, Very good! Behind Mommy, and a few others but still extremely good. I really love the length on each and every page. My only complaint is that as your playing you seem to feel this sense of hopelessness because so much happens on every page. You choose an option and then the character does this but it leads to something else and he does that... and another.. and another so that by the time you get to the next choice you feel as if you didn't really determine your path.
on 10/7/2007 4:08:44 AM
Wow. Great story, end. 8/8
